LAYR’s Hinoki Sublime, launched in 2025, is a fragrance for women and men built around hinoki cypress wood. The treatment is spare and present-day, poised between clarity and comfort.
Mandarin, pear, rose and tea open the composition alongside a silvered, mineral impression. The effect is luminous and cool, clearing the way for a denser, wood-led heart.
Through the middle, hinoki cypress lends a dry yet gently creamy, balsamic profile. Lily of the valley and jasmine keep the white floral element airy, steering clear of pronounced sweetness.
Leather is placed within this central stage too. Rather than dark or smoked, it feels burnished, lending shape and a whisper of animalic warmth.
The base carries the dialogue of crisp and cosy onwards with cashmere, styrax, olibanum and amber. Cashmere smooths the weave, while styrax and olibanum incense supply pale, carefully judged resin.
In sum, fresh spice, white blossom, leather and amber are held in balance. The impression is of fine timber and light resins revealed gradually, layer upon layer.
It should suit those drawn to tidy but characterful unisex woods, and to the contrast of tea, white blossom, burnished leather and gentle incense.
