About Keopjil
Keopjil, a Quiet Glasshouse on the Page
Created by Sian Lee for UNDER THE PERGOLA, Keopjil arrived in 2024 as a fragrance for women and men.
Think first of bergamot, pear, bluebell and lilac, then of lotus, gardenia, rose and jasmine made matte by paper.
At the outset the impression is of clear air and wet leaves. Pear lends freshness without sweetness, bergamot lifts, lilac and bluebell cool the mix.
The paper accord then does the interesting work. Laid over lotus flower, gardenia, rose and jasmine, it takes down the creaminess and leaves something closer to an illustration than a bouquet.
That keeps the whole piece light and aquatic. The white flowers glow rather than bloom heavily, while rose drifts through with a soft, legible presence.
Ambergris with ambrette musk forms a skin-like base, and cashmere alongside woody notes gives it a faint, smooth warmth. Nothing feels heavy or sharp.
Overall the character is floral and fresh, white-floral and watery, with roses well to the fore yet always kept in check.
It should appeal to lovers of fresh aquatic florals, to those who enjoy jasmine, gardenia and a restrained rose, and to anyone after an understated unisex option with a literary edge.
Keopjil closes as it began, gently: bright top, papery floral middle, musky woods beneath. A serene, well-judged offering from UNDER THE PERGOLA.
