About Safran Boisé
Safran Boisé: Warm Saffron Against Cool Balsam Woods
Safran Boisé by L'Occitane en Provence is a Woody Oriental scent made for women and men alike. Introduced in 2026, it sets heated spice against a resinous, wooded backdrop.
The creation is signed by Fabrice Pellegrin, Florian Gallo and Coralie Spicher, balancing aromatic brightness at the start with a mellow amber-resin depth.
Saffron and cardamom open the composition. The saffron offers a warmly spiced character with a faint metallic gleam, freshened by the aromatic lift of cardamom.
At the heart, balsam fir, violet and cashmere wood take over. Balsam fir lends a green, resinous balsamic quality that draws the fragrance towards the forest.
Violet softens the picture with a powdery, velvety touch, whilst cashmere wood provides a supple, cosy woody framework leading into the base.
Myrrh, amber and sandalwood form the foundation. Myrrh sustains the balsamic resonance, amber gives a rounded, enfolding warmth, and sandalwood adds a creamy woody softness. Altogether the effect is warm-spicy, ambery and woody, with hints recalling leather and tobacco and a gentle violet powder.
It should appeal to wearers who enjoy mixed Woody Orientals that are spiced but understated, built around balsam and a powdery amber-wood drydown. Especially fitting for those who like saffron rendered in a restrained, sylvan manner.
The fragrance closes on a settled, resinous warmth, with spice mellowed into wood and amber. A composed and quietly woodland interpretation of saffron by L'Occitane en Provence.
