To me, it’s a fairly mediocre fragrance, perhaps too overpriced for what it offers. I remember picking it up in a US shop while visiting my mum; I grabbed the first bottle I saw, finding it attractive and cheap, probably around ten or twelve dollars. My mum saw no issue and let me take it. Upon trying it, the scent was decent, not particularly standout, but it suited the weather and city perfectly. For me, it’s a 6/10 simply because it’s so ordinary.
Every fragrance, good or bad, enters through the nose but activates other senses, creating images, suggesting stories, and portraying characters. When I try BHPC Classic for Men, I see a young Californian from the mid-90s in a polo, fishing trousers, and trainers. He’s about 28, stands 1.85m tall, with an unforgettable smile, brown hair, and good looks. He’s sociable, a bit of a womaniser, slightly arrogant and boastful; he cares more for his physique than his manners, yet isn’t rude and knows how to behave. It’s a very American, summery scent where cedar, ambergris, and musk define a balanced animal masculinity, tempered by clean citrus and classic vetiver. It has moderate projection and longevity, performing reliably, neatly, and formally enough for the office. The behaviour is linear with a base very much of the 90s.
