I tried this fragrance yesterday to see if it improved its eau de toilette version, but no, I don’t smell the cinnamon I loved so much (in the EDT only in the initial phase). I find this parfum version less evolving, more linear but more artificial, slightly more fruity, and it even reminds me of strawberry sweets, without cinnamon… a disappointment.
There are many people with rage or hatred towards this Paco Rabanne fragrance, of which countless inferior copies are made. The truth is the brand got it right with this intoxicating scent (it’s normal it doesn’t please everyone, we are different), turning it into a classic that, unfortunately, is becoming generic due to so many copies. On my skin, with the ABSOLUTELY GOLD PURE PARFUM version, I sense a sweet and powerful fragrance where I do detect cinnamon (full gourmand), vanilla, leather, and an oud note I can’t quite identify, perhaps missing the mandarin. It’s a fragrance that accompanies me all day and lasts until the next day (I wish Spicebomb had half the projection and longevity). It’s a pity it’s not available as widely as others; a perfume I would buy without hesitation, suitable for cold climates and moderate use, as over-application relaxes due to its concentration. I insist… not everyone has the same sense of smell or skin pH, nor the same tastes, otherwise we would be incredibly boring. Final note: 10!!
Personally, I found it very good; it’s very sweet, much more so than its predecessor… to a point where it struggles to define itself as either masculine or unisex. But it’s delicious. Although on my skin the fixative was weaker than the 1 Million, I still recommend it 8/10 if you like a sweet scent that attracts women greatly. It’s warm and sweet, ideal for winter and evening wear.
1 Million Absolutely Gold is less sweet, more masculine, dark, and agreeable. Longevity is well above average, and projection is good for its concentration. It feels less synthetic than the EDT; in my opinion, quite decent for a mass-market brand. It’s a better-blended oriental. It seems to have plenty of leather and some oud, plus a very pleasant rose that adds elegance and makes it less ‘flashy’ than the EDT. All the notes blend perfectly (mandarin, pepper, absolute rose, cinnamon, and iris), creating an outstanding oriental. In short, it smells very ‘golden’. Along with One Million Prive, these are my two favourites, so different. Absolutely Gold brings out the best in the EDT.
If you enjoy men’s perfumes that veer completely towards the feminine, this is one of them. It is 100% feminine and boasts excellent performance.
