At first, in the shop, I found it indifferent, but when I tried it for free, I noticed it became too heavy once dry. The coffee note dominated so much that it smelled of tobacco, a horrible sensation for my tastes.
A difficult fragrance for the kids… The 212 VIP Black is aimed at young people aged 17 to 27, and this perfume seems geared towards an older audience as it loses some of that characteristic sweetness of the line. It’s not a challenging fragrance, but it is difficult for its target demographic. It’s coffee, leather and something clean yet slightly dirty; at times it reminds me of the opening of Ch Privilège.
I bought it today, 12th March. I applied it four hours ago and it’s simply delightful. The notes evolve over time and I can’t stop smelling it; I hope it lasts longer. In the shop, they told me it’s a special edition that won’t return, and a sales assistant recommended it, so I didn’t hesitate to buy it. I got lucky, what a beautiful scent. The VIP Black also smells nice, but as they say, every nose is a world.
I bought it today, 12th March. I applied it to my arm four hours ago and… what a delight! As the notes evolve over the hours, I can’t stop smelling it; I hope it continues to spread that rich scent for longer. In the shop they told me it’s a special edition that won’t return; a saleswoman recommended it, so I didn’t hesitate to buy it as soon as I smelled it. I was lucky, what a beautiful scent. The VIP Black also smells very well, but as they say… every nose is a different world.
A difficult fragrance for the younger set… The 212 VIP Black is aimed at young people aged 17 to 27, but in my opinion, this one is for a more mature audience because it loses that characteristic sweetness of the line. It isn’t challenging, but it is difficult for its target demographic: it’s coffee, leather, and something clean yet dirty. At times, it reminds me of the opening of Ch Prive.
Tested on skin and on blotter. It doesn’t remind me of 212 VIP Black at all. Here it’s a bit of coffee with a marked lavender, wrapped in that characteristic Carolina Herrera DNA. I feel the coffee sits well in the background behind the lavender. I don’t see it being as youthful as the VIP Black line (original, Wins, Red, Smiley, etc.). I might try it again, but for now I haven’t liked it. 5/10.
A very good fragrance for weather up to 22 degrees; notable its similarity to the Black with a coffee aroma. Highly recommended 100%.
Like all 212s, it smells artificial and medicinal. The coffee is very hidden, which is why I tested it; it’s noticeable but very faint, as if from a distance. Its standout notes are lavender and absinthe, with vetiver in the base. It’s an odd perfume that won’t last long on the market and its trail is intimate.
Very surprised by the quality, longevity and projection. It’s delicious; the opening is intense like a morning espresso, with a bitter yet elegant touch, suitable for someone serious or for the office. It has a shot of freshness that makes it not for everyone. It’s not the typical sweet CH scent; it’s an original flanker, interesting, with body, intense and deep. It’s not for everyone; I see it for men aged 30 and over, with a serious personality. The coffee comes out intense, then leaves bitter, woody and occasionally alcoholic notes. Scent 8, Quality 8, Projection 8, Longevity 8.
I took the time to write this review: one of the best fragrances of the last year. The opening is fresh due to the grapefruit, you can detect a bit of lavender and absinthe, but above all the coffee, bitter and hard like an espresso. This combination lasts about two hours and makes an impression. After three hours, the hard coffee yields to a soft and sweet aroma thanks to the cardamom and lavender. If you aren’t used to sweetness, you might find it cloying towards the end; it’s a characteristically nocturnal scent and looks better in temperate or cold climates. If you’re a fan of the Carolina Herrera 212 line, you’ll feel the famous ‘DNA’; I wasn’t using anything from this line and it was my first perfume from the brand, I was so fascinated that I consider it the best in my collection (disputing the spot with Bleu de Chanel EdT). In conclusion, it doesn’t fail, offers something different, and is enchanting. What a pity it’s limited; if you have the opportunity, don’t hesitate to buy it.
I took my time with this review: one of the best fragrances of the year. It opens fresh with bergamot, you can detect the lavender and absinthe, but above all a bitter, hard espresso-style coffee. It gives two hours of presence before settling into a soft, sweet aroma due to the cardamom and lavender. The dry down can become cloying if you’re not used to sweetness; it’s a night scent and better suited to temperate or cold climates. If you’re a fan of the 212 line, you’ll feel its DNA; it was my first Carolina Herrera and fascinated me, competing for top spot with Bleu de Chanel EDT. It never fails, it captivates; pity it’s limited. If you have the chance, buy it.
Tell me I’m mad, but it bears a strong resemblance to Mancera’s Aoud Café. It has a dried coffee note, though it’s not the best in perfumery. The scent is good, with average longevity and projection.
It’s okay, simple and striking like the perfume itself. It smells rich, doesn’t stand out too much but still draws compliments. It lasts about six hours with one and a half hours of projection. If you can get it at a good price, it’s fine; I expected a mellower coffee, but here it smells like wet, used ground coffee. 7/10.
Very good perfume, I love it. It’s an improved version of the original 212 VIP Black: darker, more masculine, and with more presence. It’s darker and spicier; although it isn’t the best coffee I’ve tried, it’s very good. It’s roasted, not sweet, and balances the fragrance with lavender very well. It’s sweet but not cloying; I’d say it fits the style of Le Male Elixir: sweet, nocturnal, and spicy. I only wish it lasted longer, projected better, and, heaven knows, wasn’t a limited edition.
I love it; it’s an improved version of the original 212 VIP Black: darker, more masculine and with more presence. It features a roasted coffee note, not sweet, which balances very well with the lavender; it’s sweet but not cloying, reminiscent of Le Male Elixir. It just lacks longevity and projection, and I wish it wasn’t a limited edition.
