5 The Guardian Master by Spiritum is a fragrance from the olfactive family for men and women, launched in 2022. The nose behind this creation is Philippe Paparella-Paris. The top notes are pink pepper, cardamom, nutmeg, frankincense, black pepper oil, red chilli and turmeric; the heart notes combine cinnamon, tobacco, iris, cedar, jasmine and statice; while the base notes reveal a complex foundation of tobacco, tonka bean, plum, bourbon vanilla, labdanum, leather, sandalwood, musk, amber, myrrh, vetiver, patchouli and oakmoss.

Caught me off guard the moment I tried it: spicy, potent and utterly unapologetic. It has a deeply masculine air, almost wild, as if speaking an ancient language of fire and skin. To me, it’s not unisex; it’s like a well-worn leather jacket pulled from an old trunk: firm, full of history and a sensuality that doesn’t need to shout. It reminds me a little of Oajan by Parfums de Marly with that warm, sweet note of cinnamon and resins, though Sprítum Nº5 walks its own path, cruder and more earthy. I see it as perfect for cold weather, where its character unfolds without overwhelming; in the heat, it could be too much, like an intense embrace under the midday sun. I’m only just beginning to get to know it and will continue to explore it slowly, but it has already left a strong mark that won’t fade.
