  A very good summer perfume, a gem from Gallagher Fragrances, which I think can be enjoyed more during the day than for night outings; it’s perfect if you live in coastal areas. That salty water aroma with a fruity touch is a delight… that little melon, uuumh! Imagine sitting on the sand with the waves caressing your feet, where instead of palm trees with coconuts, behind you is a field of melons, surprising, right? That’s how surprising Amongst Waves is. The melon scent stands out over the citrus notes (which you practically won’t notice unless you’re an A. Gualtieri of a lifetime) and reminds me of a melon-shaped bubblegum candy; it doesn’t sweeten excessively, it’s fresh and well-balanced. Versatility: 7/10, for spring and summer, for the heat it’s good, any day above 25°C, splash on AW and go conquer the world. Projection: 8/10, projects well, people can smell you between 1 and 1.5 metres without issue. Longevity: 8/10, with 4 or 5 sprays (enough), you’ll have a trail for 4 to 6 hours, after that you perceive it very faintly close to the skin. A genuine surprise from a modest brand, a job well done. A true Nicheboy.

  I think they could have called it ‘Amongst the Jungle’; it’s much fruitier than aquatic, even milky, which reminded me of Fantomas by Nasomatto in 5 seconds. The melon dominates from the opening to the dry down, where other fruits become perceptible (I could swear it’s banana or watermelon) accompanied by a green sensation (pachuli). A bit powdery (iris), like Nasomatto. The performance is moderate; I like it but I don’t love it. 7/10

  I discovered Amongst Waves with their discovery set and all their perfumes are well-made; this is my favourite. Very fruity with an aquatic accompaniment that evokes the beach, plus a subtle woody base, making it a delightful and relaxing aroma. The notes of melon, apple, and sea are very prominent, along with a rougher part that must be iris or vanilla. It fits a vibe similar to Chic for Men by Carolina Herrera or Pacific Rock Moss by Goldfield and Banks, without being close to either, just as an archetypal reference (fruity, aquatic, sweet, and summery). In short, it’s worth trying the fragrance and the brand. Totally summery, but would also work well in temperate climates, definitely unisex, with good performance for hot weather. Rating: 8.5/10

  I tried this fragrance and it reminded me of Pucon Candy by Cristian Brinck, only AW is more summery, light, and aquatic, where the melon takes centre stage. If you don’t like melon, stay away. I loved it, but I see it as a daytime, informal, summer scent. Pucon would be the winter version, and on my skin it lasts twice as long as AW, which typically fades on me after about 3 hours. I love the scent, but it doesn’t last long enough to make the price-to-quality ratio good, so I’m not sure if I’d buy it

  The best perfume I’ve ever smelled in my life. I’ve tried many: designer, Arabic, niche. This one is addictive and exquisite. UNIQUE! If you can get your hands on it, don’t even think twice, it’s a safe buy

  Absolutely brilliant! It has everything: original, unique, great longevity, and people love it. The best part is that it’s true niche: hard to find, handmade by Daniel, and you can tell. Nowadays, ‘niche’ is just a buzzword for anything that smells like bleach on the street, but this is genuinely artisanal. It smells of ripe, sweet yellow melon, with something elegant and green, occasionally earthy, over an aquatic base with an amber touch that blends seamlessly with the melon. It’s gorgeous, bravo Daniel👏🏻
