Descripción

Black XS Potion for Her by Rabanne is an oriental floral fragrance for women. Launched in 2014, this composition was created by Olivier Cresp and Emilie Coppermann. The top note presents the freshness of bergamot; the heart reveals the elegance of red rose and hellebore; while the base settles on the warmth of amber and sandalwood.

  • Well… for me, this Potion perfume has nothing to offer. I don’t like the scent, neither the top notes nor the base. One might expect that being called ‘Potion’ would make it sweeter, gourmand or addictive for the opposite sex, but nothing happened. It felt a bit too ‘matronly’ and not youthful at all. It doesn’t match its male counterpart, which is much better executed.

  • Absolutely delicious, addictive and perfect for evening wear; very seductive. It’s worlds away from the richer XS Black. I’m reluctant to use it up because I can’t find any more, just as I couldn’t get my hands on any more Delicious Night by DKNY.

  • I smelled it today in the perfumeria and its scent enchanted me; it smells like Mystery Night, it smells EXCELLENT, I’m thinking of giving it to my girlfriend to see how she likes it hahaha 😀 Highly recommended 100%

I agree with Facu22; the ‘masculine’ version of this pair of Black XS ‘potions’ seemed more attractive and better executed to me… this one, although it smells good, has left me wanting. Initially, it’s a very different turn from the original and the other flankers, not matching what, according to its name and bottle, could be a more intense and (again agreeing with Facu22) ‘addictive’, or greedier than previous editions; on the contrary, it’s a subtler, common, bland, and forgettable scent. It’s creamy, feminine, and smells very good. I’d be happy and grateful to use it if someone gifted it to me… but it doesn’t excite me to buy it myself. The bottle (more than its male counterpart) would fit without difficulty in a row of liquor bottles… I wish the fragrance had some intoxicating point that would have been more interesting 🙂 I should smell it more closely, but for now, I didn’t feel bergamot and haven’t noticed the hellebore flower… in fact, this fragrance doesn’t even smell of roses properly; it’s just a creamy scent, slightly ambered, pleasant without doubt. If the concept that PR intended to convey with this fragrance was, at some point, that of a love potion, mysterious, or some other adjective ending in ‘osa’ that would match its bottle or previous products, I fear that for me they have only managed to give the image of a distant, secret, belated, shy yet persistent, and always longing ‘infatuation’, that could have been and wasn’t.

Smells like the first Black XS but mixed with soap. After a while… it smells of pure soap. I didn’t like it at all. And yet, I love the first Black XS.

  • Paco again, what have you done to me? The bottles are the most obvious thing; perhaps they launched everything wrongly; first it should have been Le L’Exces, then Potion, then Black XS, so there wouldn’t be so much disappointment from one to the other. This one is sweet and extremely talc-like; it doesn’t last on my skin, I don’t like it; it has something floral or fruity hidden. It’s not my style.

  • Again, Paco, what have you done to me? The bottles are the most obvious thing; perhaps they launched everything in the wrong order: L’Excess should have come first, then Potion, and then Black XS, so there wouldn’t be so much disappointment from one to the other. This one is sweet, very powdery, it doesn’t last on my skin, and I don’t like it; there’s something floral or fruity hidden in there. It’s not my style.

  • I also adore this fragrance; I buy every bottle I can find in every perfume shop because it’s a limited edition and I know I won’t get it again. I love the entire Black XS line and own every single one. The only edition I haven’t tried is L’Aphrodisiaque because I never found it in my country, Argentina. I’m eagerly awaiting the Los Angeles edition, which I know arrived recently but I haven’t tried yet; if I like it, I’ll certainly buy it and it will become part of my Black XS collection. This fragrance, Black XS Potion, leaves a slight liquor scent that fascinates me, and since I’m a huge fan of powdery scents, it’s ideal for me. I loved it from the very first moment I tried it.

  • It’s very similar to Paco Rabanne’s Black XS Potion and Olympea. Exquisite, sweet, and very intense. Note: the cheaper alternative is Sweet Black by Cyzone.

  • Smells of sweet rose; every time I buy a perfume with rose as a note, it invades all other scents, leaving only a rose scent that reminds me of perfumes for very elderly women, which isn’t bad, but it only reminds me of that. Clearly, I won’t buy any more women’s perfumes with the rose note.

  • It’s a mysterious and enveloping perfume, smelling of rose but sophisticated, with an exquisitely soapy dry-down. In my opinion, it’s a super well-executed perfume; although its aroma resonates as half vintage, that doesn’t take away from its wonderfulness.

I bought it ten years after its launch and it’s already discontinued, and I’m utterly confused by the XS line. Paco, I don’t understand your relationship between the perfumes; I assume you approve them on drunken nights because I can’t see what they have in common. Well done. My favourite is undoubtedly Pure XS; that Disney villain bottle, ‘Marbella version but not over the top’, is gorgeous, and thanks for not making it tacky as it could easily have crossed the line, so, brilliant. Black XS Potion has a dark vibe that doesn’t quite sit with its contents, with that pretty poisonous bottle but a definitive wax seal; you never know what to expect. I expected something more opulent and sweet, perhaps warmer and more ambered than it actually is, yet it still fits the description of a warm perfume with amber and a sweet touch, but I can’t see that sweet touch declared! I’m baffled. It has a faint hint of Black XS but is its distant cousin who has gone abroad. This is quite better and has left behind the unisex vibe (which wasn’t bad either), coming fresh from nights out in luxurious places, pool parties full of petals, compliments never returned, late-night outings in silk dresses that always end in romance. (Different romances). I don’t know, it’s a rare perfume that promises dark and then turns into a sweet rose that flees between something fiery and dark. It’s rare, which is why I like it.

I bought it ten years after its launch, by which time it was already massively discontinued, and I’m starting to feel quite confused by the XS line. Paco, I don’t understand your relationship with the flankers; I assume you approve them on drunken nights because I can’t see what they have to do with each other. Well done. My favourite is undoubtedly Pure XS; that villainous Disney bottle, a ‘Marbella version but without going overboard’, is gorgeous, and thanks for not making it tacky because it could have easily crossed the line, so it’s brilliant. I’m baffled. It has a faint whiff of Black XS but, being its distant cousin who has moved abroad, it’s quite different. This is much better and has left behind the unisex vibe (which wasn’t bad either), coming fresh from nights out in luxurious places, pool parties full of petals, compliments never returned, and evening outings in silk dresses that always end in romance (different romances). I don’t know, it’s a strange perfume that promises darkness and then turns out to be a sweet rose scent that dances between something fiery and dark. It’s strange, which is why I like it.

  • Limited edition, and it’s nearly gone here. My daughter is making the most of what remains for her winter outings. The trail is brutal and lasts a long time, even longer on clothing. It smells of plush rose, incense, cinnamon, and vanilla. There’s a boozy moment and a talc-like finish that I adore. I think they don’t declare all the notes because, although I’m a fan, I feel it’s far more complex. In this style, Black XS Potion would be the only one I’d buy again.
