Sammarco’s Bond-T is woodsy and spiced black chocolate. At first, I thought it was too strong and animalic, but on skin it’s pure chocolate. Intense, oily and dense, it feels like an extrait. The chocolate darkens with patchouli and an oily, fruity osmanthus. The animal notes and perhaps dirty leather push it away from gourmand. It doesn’t resemble Montale’s Greedy, but rather Drops’ Oud or Mona di Oria’s Oud Osmanthus, with a base similar to Tropic of Capricorn but swapping fruits for chocolate. Good performance, long-lasting with moderate but persistent projection. Unisex, cold and nocturnal, ideal for nights out. Scent: 8.5, Longevity: 8, Projection: 7, Value: 5, Versatility: 6, Originality: 8, Overall: 8.5.
Olfactory surprise upon opening the box: cacao and tobacco flood the room. Dark chocolate, potent, earthy and animalic, boosted by an addictive patchouli and a creamy, oily osmanthus. The website says ‘Perfume’, but to me it’s an extrait by force. I detect vanilla and dry tobacco (undeclared), reminiscent of Mancera’s Red Tobacco but dirtier and less sweet. A blind buy that was spot on; I’m in ecstasy. Huge trail, eternal longevity, unisex masculine. I’d buy it again: yes.
Animal cacao, spiced and bitter at the start with a smoky touch. The dry-down is pleasant; the cacao feels cleaner and the spices no longer overwhelm. The tail loses a bit of personality to the tonka bean, which adds sweetness, while the vanilla goes unnoticed. I’m not sure which cacao was first, but there are others I prefer. It has its shadows. Ideal for cold, nocturnal, unisex wear. Good longevity.
I know you shouldn’t judge 2ml decants, but this smells absolutely insane. In a 30ml bottle, I’d be buried alive. The fun part was testing it on a friend: on my skin, after a start that nearly gave me a heart attack (luckily like a baby nappy), it evolves into boozy Baileys, then dark, earthy, dusty chocolate. On his skin, the ‘nappy’ phase is eternal and nauseating. Total drama. I smell it and feel dirty and sensual, wanting to bite a neck. Addictive, though only for indie villain nights. Yes, I’d buy it.
