I tried it in the old bottle first and it was flawless, but the new edition has changed radically: from being a fresh, clean oud and saffron with an undeclared citrus opening, it is now a loud, overpowering floral opening that won’t let you be. It does smell of saffron, oud and patchouli, but the flowers dominate so much that even my friends say it smells like my mother. I like it because I have nothing against ‘feminine’ fragrances, but it is not what I was looking for; I understand that the vanilla and white musk make it so, but that floral note is invasive. I bought it at Laura, a leading niche perfumerie, so it wasn’t a mistake: either it has been reformulated terribly or there was a fault in the bottling. It is totally different from the previous version with the gold plaque, and that makes me angry because it was beautiful before.
