I’m torn… I tested the original back in the day and it left me speechless. Now with Decadent Wonder, the opening smells nice, but it lacks that layered depth Amouage has. I say it should smell of rum and cacao, but on my skin it’s tangerine with a very subtle spicy touch and loads of ambroxan (even though it’s not listed). The longevity is short, around four hours. I’ll give it more time.

✨ Decadent Wonder by Maison Alhambra caught me off guard from the very first spray. The opening is what I absolutely adore: a fresh, sparkling mandarin with ginger and a soft cinnamon, making it warm yet incredibly luminous. That top note is exquisite, elegant and addictive… although, unfortunately, it fades quite quickly on my skin. It’s a pity, as I would love to enjoy that phase much more. Afterwards, the scent softens considerably. The heliotrope and jasmine emerge very delicately, without any harshness, while the rose is almost imperceptible. In the dry-down, there is a warm, sweet vanilla with a hint of heliotrope and a subtle touch of cocoa and rum that are barely noticeable. The final result is a soft, feminine gourmand, ending in vanilla with a heliotrope nuance. It doesn’t project much in the dry-down, although it does in the opening. Nevertheless, it is lovely, pleasant and has a special sparkle in that initial burst that makes me happy every time I wear it. For me, it will be a perfume to reapply, precisely to enjoy that citrus and spicy opening again, which is the most magical part of the composition. I love how it blends the citrus, spicy and sweet notes. Also, it has just arrived, and I am sure it will improve with maceration. Still, for the price, it is absolutely worth it. I would definitely buy it again.
