  1. The notes advertised don’t match what’s on the Lophiel website: passion fruit, grapefruit and ginger at first, then coconut, tonka and marine accords, with a base of amber, patchouli and vanilla. It opens citrusy and spicy with the ginger and a hint of marine, but the coconut and passion fruit are barely noticeable. It evolves into a typical wild scent with a marine backdrop. The first hour is good, but afterwards it retreats into a very contained personal bubble. It doesn’t quite reach skin level, but it’s close. It lasts about four hours, and although it’s intended for spring-summer, at €20 there’s no complaint. The issue is that they claim it’s niche and their website charges £177 for this mediocrity without any real character. I don’t believe it’s a counterfeit because nobody knows Lophiel. This leaves a question: is it the work of an enthusiast who had a flop, or someone trying to get rich by exploiting people’s goodwill?
