What really stands out is the geranium – top quality, not mentholated like Layton, but a pure geranium flower. Cardamomo lingers in the background, followed by lavender and cedar. Ideal for everyday wear; I’ll let it macerate for a few weeks to see if longevity and projection improve.
The first thing you smell is a high-quality geranium – nothing mentholated like Layton, but a real flower. Cardamomo lingers in the background, and over time lavender and cedar emerge. It’s a soft fragrance perfect for everyday wear. I’ll let it macerate for a couple of weeks to see if longevity and projection improve.
I picked up this Sablo on a buy-and-sell app without knowing the brand, drawn in by the notes and the great price (€20). Blind buys always carry some risk, especially when you’re not risking much money. After purchasing, I did some research and discovered Lophiel is a Swedish niche brand founded in 2022 by a Swedish-Iranian, with Sablo retailing at €177 on their website. That didn’t sound right – nobody sells hard currency for four pence, and such apps are full of Aventus clones at €60 😅. But today it arrived, and I was hugely surprised. This Sablo smells very much like Poker Face by Ted Lapidus, or almost identical to YSL’s Nuit de L’Homme, with similar performance (5–6 hours), and I think it will improve once it has had time to rest and oxidise. It’s made in a lab in a small town in Toledo. Out of curiosity, does anyone know anything about Lophiel? P.S.: Updating to say that after a few days of resting, a soft suede note has emerged, making it very interesting as it’s not part of the DNA of the other two references, and it suits it down to the ground.
I picked up this Sablo by Lophiel on a second-hand app for €20 without knowing anything about the brand, just based on the notes and price. After some research, I discovered it’s a new Swedish niche brand (2022) and that it costs €177 on their website, so I realised it was probably a discounted Aventus or similar. When it arrived, I was hugely surprised: it smells almost identical to Poker Face by Ted Lapidus or YSL’s Nuit de L’Homme, with a performance of 5–6 hours. It’s made in a lab in Toledo. For now, it needs oxidising, but I’ve already noticed that after a few days a soft suede note has appeared, which suits it perfectly and gives it an interesting touch that the original references lacked. Does anyone else know anything about Lophiel?
