This seems to be one of the weakest I’ve tried from this brand. Not just because of the scent (which doesn’t really convince me), but due to the poor performance. The opening is spicy and green, with lots of black pepper, pine, and juniper. You can detect a touch of oakmoss in the base, very restrained, and perhaps some dry tobacco, although that note is the hardest to isolate. After a while, the pine calms down, leaving a woody blend of pepper and juniper. It has a certain air of Acqua di Parma’s Ginepro di Sardegna, but with much lower performance and less charm. It’s masculine and suitable for any weather, but the performance is weak in both potency and longevity. Although it doesn’t smell bad, I think there are similar options at a lower price with better performance, so for me, it’s entirely dispensable.
I received a sample when purchasing another item. It’s green, spicy, fresh, and elegant – one of those scents everyone could like. The aroma is very natural, ideal for the office or with a suit during the day. I think it’s more of a spring or summer fragrance. The downside is the price. Perhaps for a Swede, paying €90 for 30ml isn’t much, but for me, given the scent and performance, it seems outrageous. There are similar ones that are cheaper and deliver better results. On my skin, the longevity and trail are very moderate, on par with any designer costing three or four times less. That’s a matter of taste and budget. Scent: 8, Longevity: 7, Sillage: 6, Value for money: 5, Versatility: 10, Overall: 7.
Perhaps the perfumer has gone a bit too far with the subtlety. First off, the olfactory quality is undeniable. The notes are all there and recognised perfectly. The juniper is very realistic, like rubbing berries or dried leaves between your palms. While it stands out, it’s well-balanced by that woody, mentholated, and acidic touch from the pine, which nuances the opening without being too cold. Then comes a subtle, elegant pepper, realistic tobacco with a tiny bitter edge, and a well-crafted moss. The issue is the projection, which is very weak. The longevity isn’t terrible, but the fragrance clings to the skin as if we’d applied raw natural products: it smells, but you have to lean in to find it. I don’t know if this was the house’s intention; if so, it’s brilliant as a conceptual piece, but if not, it’s not worth the price for anything other than personal use. The olfactory quality is undeniable, but the performance is too limited for what is expected.
