  • The best rose perfume I have tried so far… I have tried several, as I never go without a handmade rose absolute, and my mother, who is mad about roses, also has hers. It is a sublime and adorned rose (can it be more beautiful?) with osmanthus, a soft vetiver, musk, and something more… because it has mystery. Do not see it as a simple floral or like cotton candy… it is rather the spiritual rose, with thorns, that only a few achieve… the rose gifted by love. A jewel in my collection.

  • The best rose perfume I have smelled so far… and I have tried several, as I never go without a handmade rose absolute, and my mother, who is a rose enthusiast, also has hers. A sublime and adorned rose (if it can be more beautiful) with osmanthus, a soft vetiver, musk, and I don’t know what else… because it has mystery. Avoid thinking of Encre Noir as simply a floral perfume, or one among clouds of cotton candy… it is rather the spiritual rose, with thorns, that only a few know how to obtain… the rose gifted by love. A jewel in my collection.

  • Encre Noir does not smell like a man’s perfume at all; it is totally feminine and soft, without falling into typical florals. For me, it is sensual and elegant; today I wore it and people asked what perfume I was wearing because it smelled like that, very feminine and classy.

  • I have just received it and the first spray is a bomb of rose and freesia, then cedar appears, but I still smell powdery rose from the start. It reminds me of my childhood; it is very sweet and floral, and I detect no wood at all. It is not a woody musk floral or anything modern; I see it for a mature woman, not a child. It is singular, strange, and elegant, perhaps too much. I must try it another day; I don’t like it entirely but it didn’t disgust me either. Lalique and Dior are my favourite brands. Perhaps today was not the right day; I think with more wood or vanilla it would be perfect, but today it seems excessively floral and rosy. I only tested it on my wrist; perhaps I should have tried it on my neck or décolletage. Edit: with a vanilla body milk, it has become something very good on my skin; it remains elegant but the rose is no longer so clear. Now I think I can wear it without issues; perhaps it works better in spring.

  • Encre Noir smells nothing like a man’s perfume; it is totally feminine with a soft aroma and no tendency towards being exclusively floral. To me, it seems sensual and feminine; today when I wore it, people asked what perfume I was wearing because it smelled sensual, elegant, and feminine.

  • It is certainly not a ‘diluted’ perfume. The vetiver is soft. As for the trail and longevity… I put it on at 8 am and I can still smell it at 4 pm (a little more muted, of course). In Encre Noir, the rose leads… with cedar, a soft vetiver, ambrette, osmanthus, and a ‘I don’t know what’ that I love. Although there are many with rose, I have not heard of another so similar to compare it with. I recommend trying it calmly :).

  • The perfume arrived and the first spray is a bomb of rose and freesia, then the cedar enters, but the rose dominates from the beginning to the end, with a powdery touch. It reminds me of my childhood home; it is very sweet and floral, and I detect no wood. It is not a woody musk floral, nor modern; I see it more for a mature woman than a child. It is a singular and somewhat unusual scent, nothing habitual nowadays, very elegant, perhaps too so. I will try it another day; I do not like it entirely but it did not disgust me either. Lalique and Dior are my favourite brands. Perhaps today was not the day for Encre Noir, but I believe with more wood or vanilla it would be perfect; today it seems excessively floral and rose. I only tried it on my wrist; perhaps I should try it on the neck and décolletage too. Edit: with a vanilla body milk, it has become a very good fragrance on my skin; it remains elegant but the rose is no longer so clear. Now I think I can wear it without problems; perhaps it would work much better in spring.

  • It is an aroma for special or formal occasions, very elegant. Age does not matter, only style, the occasion, or the season, but it must be a distinguished fragrance and nothing common, one that makes a difference. Apply it moderately; it has good projection and longevity.

  • anitarosal

A beautiful rose perfume, smelling of fresh pink petals with nothing synthetic, just the natural depth of the flower’s aroma. It is not a youthful or innocent rose, but rather a mature and splendid one; elegant yet ethereal, desired but inaccessible due to its thorns, which know how to defend themselves. The longevity is excellent on my skin, lasting over 10 hours with a moderate trail and another 3 or 4 hours close to the skin. Applied lightly, it suits the day and withstands semi-formal evening outings, such as dinners or romantic dates; I cannot imagine it in a club, it is for a quiet girl with refined manners. If you love rose perfumes, this must not be missing from your collection. A true beauty that I hope to keep forever.

A beautiful rose perfume that seems like pink and rosy petals, nothing synthetic, but the natural aroma of the flower with ingredients that give it depth. It is not a youthful and innocent rose, but rather a mature and splendid one; elegant yet ethereal, desired but inaccessible due to its thorns; they have touched it and it knows how to defend itself. The longevity is excellent on my skin (over 10 hours with a moderate trail and another 3 or 4 hours close to the skin, still perceptible). Applied lightly, it is used calmly during the day and withstands semi-formal evening outings such as dinners or romantic dates; I cannot imagine it in a club, it is for a quiet girl with refined manners. If you love rose perfumes, this must not be missing from your collection. A true beauty that I hope to keep forever.

  • The bottle makes you think of something it is not, but I loved that surprise. On me, it begins with a soft bergamot that recedes to the background to let the rose speak. It appears without warning, sweet and slightly powdery, almost salmon-pink, resplendent. The musk and cedar make it woody and fresh, with a soft vetiver that adds depth. I do not like roses on their own, but when surrounded by enveloping notes like this, they are unmatched. It is floral, elegant and feminine. At first it seems very soft, but then it warms on the skin and develops. If you overapply, it is formidable; with the correct dose, it is incredible delicacy. Destined for formal events or work; it would be wasted in informal situations. It is a modern classic, fresh and versatile. I use it in autumn or spring, but it works for any season. It has good longevity and sillage; sometimes I smell it close to my skin, and other times I get bursts, which I love. Its soul is white and warm, not black as its name suggests. A timeless blind buy that stays in my wardrobe forever.

  • It is true that by the bottle you might imagine a different aroma, but I loved the contrast. On me, it starts with a soft note of bergamot which then goes to the background; here the rose takes the lead. It appears without warning, very sweet and slightly powdery. It is not a dark rose; I see it as salmon-coloured, almost mature but with the splendour of old times. The musk and cedar make it sweet, woody, powdery, and fresh, with a very soft vetiver that adds deep nuances. I do not like perfumes exclusively of rose, but when it is so delicate and surrounded by enveloping notes that perfect it, it becomes something unmatched. It is a soft floral, nothing loud, elegant and feminine. For day and night, depending on the applications: at first it seems excessively soft, but then it warms up on the skin and develops. If you overapply, it is fierce; if you use the correct dose, it is of unimaginable delicacy. An aroma for formal events or work meetings; it would be wasted on informal occasions. I consider it a modern classic, fresh and versatile. I use it as a formal fragrance for autumn or spring, day or night, but enjoy it in any season. Very good longevity and trail; sometimes I smell it close to the skin and other times there are bursts; I love that it surprises me. Its jar is dark, heavy, and mysterious, but its soul is white, warm, and dazzling. A blind buy, timeless, free of fads and advertising, which I longed for for a long time and which now comes to stay permanently in my wardrobe.

I am a Lalique devotee, and after reading such glowing reviews of Encre Noire, I decided to buy it blind since finding fragrances from this house in Barcelona is difficult. The risk wasn’t too high because rose is my favourite note and it is the star here; it was hard for me not to like it. It opens with bergamot and freesia which quickly yield to a sublime rose. The top notes fade fast, but that is merely the prelude: the rose slowly unfolds its petals. It is not a luminous or transparent rose, but rather mature, serene, classic, deep, slightly dark, smoky, and very romantic. The musk adds cleanliness and freshness, making it suitable for almost all seasons. It is original and wearable, yet its complexity and the supremacy of the rose appeal to a specific style: pure elegance and refinement. It reminds me of Elizabeth Bennet, sweet and sensitive but with character, a rose with thorns. The bottle is deceptive: classic gold lettering on an inkwell evoking aristocracy, yet the bottle itself is modern, rectangular, black, heavy, and masculine, symbolising that duality between tenderness and strength. Its longevity is moderate, no more than five hours, with a comforting and powdery trail. It is perfect for cold weather, day or night, but not for summer. It is a unique jewel for special occasions.

I am a Lalique fanatic, and after reading such glowing reviews for Encre Noire, I decided to buy it without testing it first, as finding fragrances from this house in Barcelona is difficult. The risk was low: Turkish rose is my favourite, and it is the star here. The top notes of bergamot and freesia fade quickly, but that is not the end; it is the prelude to a sublime rose that blooms slowly. It is not a luminous or transparent rose, but rather mature, serene, classic, deep and slightly smoky. The musk gives it a fresh, clean air, perfect for almost all seasons. It is original and wearable, with a sober elegance that reminds me of Elizabeth Bennet: sweet but with character, a rose with thorns. The bottle is modern, black and heavy, symbolising that duality between the tender and the strong. Longevity is moderate, around five hours, and the sillage is not intrusive. Ideal for cold weather, day or night. It is a jewel in my collection.

The bottle screams ‘Encre Noire’ and seems to warn us, but forget the darkness. It is a dense, ripe rose that lingers from the very first second to the very last. It does not write black notes on white paper; on the contrary, it etches sweet, delicate stories of women who love roses just as they reach their most velvety peak, moments before they fall. It captures the essence of the rose in its final, beautiful expression before returning to the earth. It is a scent of bleeding rose that moves you, soft yet profound, like a poem written with the heart.

  • Alejandra Vzla

It is one of the most pleasant fragrances I have used; it projects well and smells exquisite. It has a sweet, talcum-powdered, floral, vanilla and rose note; simply beautiful.

  • VainillaDulce

Encre Noir is, without a doubt, the most well-structured rose fragrance I have tried; elegant and sublime. The opening of bergamot and musk fades quickly to reveal that freshly cut garden rose, later framed by moss, cedar and vetiver. Here, the rose is the absolute queen. It reminds me of a woman of great presence, wearing a simple Jackie O or Grace Kelly dress; the ideal perfume for a bride. It is formal, for the afternoon, with moderate trail and longevity. If you like roses, give it a try; you will surely love it. 9/10

I love its rose scent: soft, moderate, but it lingers. I find Les Perles more intense and with better longevity, I prefer those for me, but this reminds me of when as little girls we took flowers to school… It brings me sweet memories. Lalique is magnificent, but I don’t recommend it if you’re looking for a scent with greater sillage.

  • By courtesy of Casablanca77, ENCRE NOIR by Lalique Pour Elle is an absolute rose without filters. Totally different from its masculine version: where he had smoky violets, she has carnal roses. It’s not just any rose, but a complex one, dismantled into facets marked by citrus, herbs, musks, and woods. No pale, adolescent, or sugary roses; this is deep and essential femininity. The citrus opens with freshness for the rose to explode in all its splendour, later hiding behind petals that release their potency. Far from being funereal or gothic like the masculine violet, and without that Iso E-Super note, it’s an opulent, dramatic, and theatrical rose, of a diva. The osmanthus doesn’t cover it but powers it with a floral touch between peach and apricot. It evolves keeping the rose as the absolute protagonist, with light citrus touches that disappear under the kephalis, adding a softly tobaccoed nuance. The high-quality white musk is barely noticeable but gives strength and distinction to the flower. It’s for a woman addicted to roses; its performance is extremely high, so spray with moderation as it can be intrusive and not for daily use, but it stands out above all in the evening. Ideal for someone who keeps a Balenciaga or a Dior New Look Auteuil from the 50s in their wardrobe. With a Zara dress it’s not the same, but everything is worth trying.

  • A short review because, although I’m dying to own it, I haven’t bought it yet. To be honest, I expected something different; in my head, it smelled distinct, probably due to the name ‘tinta negra’ and the bottle, as there’s nothing too ‘black’ in the notes. The first impression was a disappointment… I expected something extravagant, even smelling of squid, but in terms of scent, it stays within classic lines. But what lines, please! From start to finish, it smells of roses, with fresh, creamy, and sensual variations. What longevity, impressive! This perfume speaks of a masterful hand in its structure; with rose perfumes, one must know the raw materials very well and have a clear objective to achieve something like Encre Noire, which doesn’t fall into the similar, staying classic yet singular and expressing the rose in all its phases. It’s clean without being soapy, but has a ‘sombría’ base that gives it elegance and more versatility than a simple soap.

  • MarinaEtoile

A lovely fragrance where the rose is the undisputed star. But it’s not an innocent or playful rose; it’s serious, with a distinguished and powdery touch that gives it a more earthy air. On my skin it lasts about seven hours with moderate to low projection. It’s not the most impressive rose composition in my collection, but I have no regrets about buying it.

  • It gave me the impression of being for older women; I bought it without smelling it, expecting something lighter. It turns out to be intense, rich and very characterful. Ideal for winter or night out. It’s complex, floral, fruity and sweetly vanilla.
