  • I was hoping for a Roberto Cavalli scent for the cooler months, but since I couldn’t find it in-store, I bought it online blind. After a week of testing, I can confirm it bears no resemblance to the original Just Cavalli and lacks any tropical notes. Is it a hazelnut fragrance? Yes. It opens sweetly, like clouds of sugar or marshmallow, though I prefer that note refined in D&G Pour Femme. Soon, the hazelnuts arrive in full force: warm, rich, woody, almost edible—I’m practically tasting them. Followed by a very subtle jasmine, a barely perceptible leather, and a woody rosewood that rounds it off. There’s an oily note which might be the only thing in common with the original. It doesn’t quite convince me. It’s not a smell I dislike, but I feel I’m left wanting. I don’t see it as a floral oriental, but rather a masculine gourmand, not too sweet. It’s like baking a cake and realising you’re missing ingredients. If it had chocolate, it would be fantastic—a cocoa cream and hazelnut aroma that would make you reach for a jar of Nocilla and breadsticks, or a huge bowl of hot chocolate. Ummmm! But it has no cocoa, just hazelnuts, and that’s where it stops. It’s the softest Cavalli I’ve tried; it’s not overpowering, the trail is gentle, and on my skin it lasted about four hours. It could be unisex, a blend of hazelnuts, leather and wood; I don’t see it as feminine or sensual as the others from the brand. The bottle is beautiful, with gold metal and glass, well-weighted, engraved letters, and you can see the golden liquid through them. I love Roberto Cavalli and Just Cavalli, but this fragrance, which seemed perfect for cold weather, doesn’t quite convince me. Still, I’ll use it until the end; perhaps I’ll grow to like it more. I’m not resigning myself to losing this battle. I don’t like writing negative reviews because every fragrance has something to offer, but this one has left me wanting. A pity. PS: For heaven’s sake, add a little chocolate; it’s screaming for it.

If it had chocolate, it would be a fantastic cocoa cream with hazelnut aroma; it smells exactly like that. • Look, to me it smells like chocolate, and that’s wonderful. It’s very different, though it fades quickly. I loved trying it and I see it as a scent for everyone.

  • It’s a warm delight with a spicy note that lasts for ages on my skin and leaves an incredible trail. I love it so much I’m just waiting for autumn to start wearing it; in winter it’s super easy to wear, elegant and hugely underrated, especially considering its value for money. I’d recommend trying it first as it doesn’t suit all skin types, but in my case it’s a total hit: it flatters me and people have even stopped me in the street asking about this lovely fragrance. I can’t say anything nicer about it… may it never run out ❤️
