With my last purchase I received a decant and used it up in a single day. It’s very linear; the opening is pleasant like wet cedar creamy with a spiced cardamom touch. The longevity is short barely five hours (three moderate and the rest skin-scent only) with low projection. Given the price and what it offers it doesn’t make the cut for my collection though I admit it smells good.
If you’re looking for longevity, this isn’t for you. Freshly applied, it reminds me a lot of Invictus with its marine notes, and as it fades, a woody phase emerges that brings back memories of Abercrombie’s Fierce. The disappointment lies in the longevity: it doesn’t reach four hours, with barely two hours of projection and the rest sillage against the skin. It’s hard to make sense of such proposals in such a saturated market of similar scents.
I consider it one of Issey Miyake’s best launches in years. It doesn’t follow trends and smells different from the current market. On my skin, it lasts around six to seven hours, excellent for day and summer wear. I recommend it if you’re looking for something fresh with personality.
I agree with m4rC0$: an incredibly clean scent, very different from the usual aquatic or extreme citrus. It leans more towards earthy with a high freshness. I wouldn’t describe it as elegant, but it has charm. It can be used as a ‘sport’ fragrance (informal and relaxed), not for the evening. What a pity regarding the fixity and projection, which are almost non-existent. I’m not ruling it out for my collection, but I wouldn’t rush to buy it.
It’s the wonderful Issey water spiced with cedar and cardamomo, making it slightly warmer and darker. I like it a lot, especially the textured trunk-shaped cap. But Issey Miyake is so round and perfect that any variation feels ‘extra’ to me. Presumably, it will always turn out well because the base is of high quality. Perhaps for those who find the original too citrusy, this version works better. Finest elegance and freshness. In this case, more woody. Incredibly rich. Always faithful to Miyake.
A pleasant, fresh scent with citrus, marine and woody notes, but nothing new under the sun. Quite linear and versatile for warm days. The performance is more typical of an EDT. These days, almost all men’s perfumes smell the same; they repeat formulas until you’re sick of it. If you like it and want to support a small niche house from Madrid, try ‘Twenty One’ by Ovéh: better performance and a lower price.
Fresh citrus and cedar, but with a longevity that’s laughable. Issey Miyake usually gets it right with Pulse, Polaris or Nuit, but this 2022 release is a rehash that adds nothing new. It smells nice, certainly, but it’s neither novel nor the best launch from the house in years. To each their own.
It’s Issey’s ‘Wonder Water’ dressed up with cedar and cardamomo making it slightly warmer and darker. I love it especially the textured trunk-style cap. Issey Miyake has a perfect house style so any variation usually comes out well. It might suit those who feel the original is too citrusy. Elegant and very fresh more woody. Rich and true to the house.
Citrus and cedar fresh water, but the longevity is a joke, Issey Miyake… The clones do even worse. I love the house; Pulse, Polaris, Noir Ambre, or Encens are masterpieces, and Nuit d’Issey or the classic L’eau d’Issey (which nowadays adds nothing, but back then it did), but this in 2022 has zero. I disagree with those who say it is novel; perhaps if you live in a cave and this is your first perfume. The best launch in years? I laugh, I suppose counting 2021 and what has gone of 2022, because since 2014 there have been infinitely better launches than this rehashed citrus and cedar. It smells good, obviously, and will be liked, but that does not mean it is good or new. To each their own taste.
Despite the reviews I read, I went to try it and I liked it quite a bit. I don’t know if it’s very original or similar to another, but I liked it. That said, as usual with Miyake, the longevity is a sigh, barely 2-3 hours with no trace on the skin or around.
In my opinion, a total disaster. Simple scent, adding nothing. Terrible fixation, zero trail, zero projection… I don’t understand this launch. I love the Miyake house, but this is indefensible. It’s like the Citrus Cedro line but worse in every way.
In my humble opinion, it is a total disaster. The scent is simple and adds nothing, the longevity is terrible (I have rarely tested a perfume with worse performance), the sillage is non-existent, and the projection is absent. I do not understand this launch and I cannot fathom how it passed the minimum quality filters to hit the market. I love the Miyake house, but this is indefensible: it is on the line of Citrus Cedart but is worse in every way.
Two days ago a shop assistant sprayed it on me. I didn’t know it was the new release and the contrast between opinions is abysmal. My first impression: the scent isn’t novel, but very pleasant. With woody and cedar notes, you’ll like it. I had a low trail but an atypically prolonged skin fixation. It cost 80 dollars in the store, but due to sanctions in my country, the price is distorted. I wouldn’t buy it for 80 dollars, but I like this house and I don’t expect a perfumery revolution; as long as they don’t reformulate so much, that’s enough for me.
Two days ago a shop assistant sprayed it on my wrist. I didn’t know it was the new release and seeing the contrast in reviews I focused on my first impression: the scent isn’t novel but very pleasant. With woody and cedar notes you’ll like it if you love those woods (I didn’t notice much cardamomo). I had low trail but an unusually long-lasting fixative. The price in the shop was $80; here the economic distortion is a different matter. At that price I wouldn’t buy it but I won’t join the chorus of destruction. Just that the big houses don’t reformulate so much is more than enough.
It starts very well with a protagonist cedar that dominates the cardamom and vetiver (which I did not notice), achieving an excellent woody note. The problem is that the longevity and sillage are non-existent; after 30 minutes it no longer projects and stays stuck to the skin. For the price, it is a total rip-off. I recommend avoiding it because big houses are making perfumes increasingly ephemeral as if we were fools. If it lasted well, I would have kept it, but I do not recommend it. If you like cedar, better go for the Citrus Cedart by Adolfo Domínguez, which is brilliant and much cheaper.
A completely dispensable fragrance with no charm. Nothing saves it. It’s a simplistic, boring, and generic composition. It feels fresh without any wonder, something that could pass off as a supermarket cologne.
It has a pleasant opening where the cedar is the protagonist over the cardamomo and vetiver. It’s a very accomplished woody scent. The problem is the longevity and trail, which are practically non-existent. After thirty minutes, it stops projecting and stays close to the skin. For the price, it’s a rip-off. I recommend avoiding it. The big houses are going for ephemeral perfumes. If it had longevity, it would be good; I liked it, but unfortunately, it’s a rip-off. I’ll stick with the classic L’Eau and the Intense. If you like cedar, go for the Citrus Cedro by Adolfo Dominguez, which is brilliant and cheaper.
I see many negative reviews and comparisons to AD’s Citrus Cedro to denigrate it, but this is excessive hate. It has nothing to do with Citrus Cedro, which is more maritime and powerful. Eau & Cedre is more subtle, with an opening like the normal Issey but with less citrus; the cardamomo and white woods are excellent. It’s linear but incredibly rich. It’s a cedar fresh water, à la Issey. If they had made it with more strength, the cedar would overwhelm, but as it is, it feels just right. It’s not a beast in terms of performance, but for a fresh water, it lasts six hours, which isn’t bad. It projects well for the first hour and a half and then becomes discreet, which is what you’re looking for. Perfect for spring/summer and early autumn. If you’re a fan of the normal Issey but want something less citrusy and more woody, this is your option. Scent: 8.5 – Projection: 7.5. Leaning towards masculine unisex. Suitable for all ages. In July 2024 it cost 35 euros and is excellent for summer, moving away from cheap citrus scents. I need to reapply after 4-5 hours.
I’ve seen countless negative reviews comparing this to Azzaro’s Citrus Cedart, but that is sheer, unadulterated hatred; they have nothing to do with each other. The original is maritime and very citrusy, whereas this is subtle, with an opening reminiscent of Issey Miyake but with the citrus toned down and a lovely cardamom blending harmoniously with cedar and white woods. It is fairly linear, but the scent is rich: a cedar fresh water, that’s the point. If they had given the cedar more punch, it might have been overwhelming, but as it is, it feels just right. It’s not a beast in terms of longevity (not everything has to be), but it lasts six hours as a fresh scent, which is perfectly fine. Projection and sillage are good for the first hour and a half, after which it becomes discreet, which is exactly what we want so that those who smell it up close can appreciate its subtlety and refinement. For a fresh fragrance, it’s not bad at all; ideal for spring, summer, and early autumn. If you like the regular Issey but want something less citrusy, mass-produced, and more woody without losing the DNA or the refreshing quality of the brand, you will like it. Scent: 8.5. Projection and sillage: 7.5. Unisex with a slight masculine lean. Suitable for all ages, far from typical perfumes for older people or current youth. Edited 07/07/2024: with the 50ml bottle at 35 euros in July, I reaffirm that it is an excellent summer option that moves away from cheap citrus and adds a very pleasant aquatic cedar note, although like all summer scents, it needs reapplication every 4-5 hours. I believe it is fair to value it in this type of aroma, price, and aquatic longevity.
I’ve read many negative reviews, but when I tried it on my skin, I absolutely loved it. Although it’s marketed for men, I think it’s unisex. I adore that fresh, light, and citrusy sensation. It doesn’t have much projection, but I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it. I love the creations from this house.
I’ve read many negative reviews but when I tried it on my skin I simply loved it. Despite being marketed for men I think it’s unisex. I love the feeling of a fresh light citrusy perfume. It doesn’t have much projection but I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it. I adore the creations from this house.
It’s a simple yet rich perfume, with a citrusy touch reminiscent of Versace Pour Homme. It smells clean, like you’ve just stepped out of the shower, and it certainly shouldn’t be underestimated.
L’Eau de Issey Pour Homme Eau Cedre smells of wood and aromatics. It starts with a quick-fading citrus and aromatic touch, leaving behind a generic yet pleasant cedar. It’s ideal for daytime, the office, or school. The longevity was seven hours, but it barely leaves a trail. It smells nice, but it doesn’t give me the urge to wear it. Give it a try and let us know your thoughts.
