I moved my previous review because this is the version I tested. Today I tried it thanks to the owner of a perfumery who showed me several unique fragrances I can’t find anywhere else and let me try them. It seemed to be of a very similar style to Chanel’s Pour Monsieur; it’s well classified as an aromatic citrus with a chypre tendency. From the first spray, it has an elegant and exquisite touch. The citrus note lasts a short while, with floral and musky notes taking the lead, and a woody base featuring a very noticeable oakmoss, plus cedar, which are notes shared with Pour Monsieur. I also find it a bit reminiscent of Dior’s Eau Sauvage. The truth is, I’ve loved it; I’ll have to return for it, especially because it’s a hard-to-find gem, very pleasant, and the price is irresistible. Suitable for use in any season and place as it’s not intrusive. I recommend buying blind for those who enjoy old-school aromatic woody citrus fragrances.
I moved my previous review because this is the version I tested. The owner of a perfumery opened the door to unique fragrances I can’t find anywhere else and let me try them. This reminds me a lot of Chanel’s Pour Monsieur: it’s an aromatic citrus with chypre touches. Upon leaving, it smells exquisitely elegant; the citrus fades quickly, leaving the floral and musky notes to dominate, while the base is woody with a very prominent oakmoss and cedar, notes it also shares with Chanel. It also sounds a bit like Dior’s Eau Sauvage. The truth is, I’ve loved it. I’ll have to go back for it because it’s a hard-to-find gem, very pleasant, and with an irresistible price. It suits any season and setting without being intrusive. Buy blind if you like old-school aromatic woody citrus fragrances.
Smells like Chanel Monsieur but also to my nose with the 1916 by Myrurgia; 85% is identical though with distinct nuances. Givenchy feels more polished, the heart and base notes give a clean, floral, soapy aura. I’m not sure if it’s worth paying more for almost the same thing. Anyway, it’s a good fragrance to wear when dressed smartly, not necessarily a suit but certainly a shirt and chino trousers.
