I own this and L’Emperatrice 3 and can’t find much difference between them, although this one is less spicy and herbal, presumably because it doesn’t contain rhubarb, whereas I do detect it in the other, albeit less so. I like both, but I regret buying this one; I was looking for something a little more different and consider them almost identical.
Ordered it online expecting the original, but this edition arrived instead. I like it; it smells of red fruits, like shampoo on summer days. It’s brilliant, and besides, the bottle looks lovely on me.
Bought it today purely out of curiosity, as I adore L’ Imperatrice 3 and reviews suggested it’s very similar… and yes, it is almost identical. This fragrance is slightly more linear, featuring just watermelon and strawberry. It’s less spicy and less aquatic than the L’ Imperatrice 3. I wouldn’t buy it again; I’ll stick with the original version, which is far fresher and more aquatic.
L’Imperatrice is the survivor of the Tarot collection that sank; the old one with the ‘3’ on the label is my favourite. It’s a mix of red fruits where the melon shines, juicy and red with rhubarb, with an acidic touch of kiwi reminiscent of a ripe guava, all over a musky and aquatic base. In 2020, a limited edition came out in a pink box without the number 3, but now the bottle is sold unengraved in a simple white box. This fragrance has popular appeal; even many men enjoy it. The new version removed the ‘3’ but keeps the elegant, monolithic bottle with a black cap; it smells more linear, though the previous and current versions are almost 80% identical. The sweet, red, juicy melon remains the protagonist, accompanied by sparkling strawberry and red berries that maintain that guava vibe with rhubarb and kiwi. I admit that when smelling the atomiser it smells a bit intense, but only at the spray; afterwards it stays the same. I assume they kept the floral base of the limited edition, although no flower comes to mind, as it’s basically a smoothie of melon, kiwi, berries and rhubarb over a musky base. Despite everything, I prefer the old one with the ‘3’ because it feels more watery, fresh and vegetal, and doesn’t clash so much on a man, although to be honest, gender has never mattered to me.
L’Imperatrice is the survivor of the Tarot-based Anthology collection, which completely sank; the old one with the number three on the label is one of my favourites, based mainly on red fruits, primarily melon, accentuated by the juiciest, reddest part of the rhubarb and with a touch of fruity acidity from the kiwi, which mixed with the former often reminds me of a well-ripe, red guava, all over a musky base with aquatic accords. In 2020 it launched a limited edition (which I haven’t tried) that came in a pink box and removed the number 3 from the label; currently, the bottle without the number 3, without the limited edition engraving on the glass, and back to its simple white box, is still being sold. This fragrance undoubtedly has an appealing taste, and I even know many men who enjoy its scent. The current L’Imperatrice removes the number 3 but keeps its elegant, monolithic and translucent bottle crowned with a black cap. This new version feels more linear, although the previous and this one smell almost 80% identical; the watermelon remains its absolute protagonist, sweet, red and juicy, accompanied by a sparkling strawberry and red berries that, together with that acidic, fruity juice from the rhubarb and kiwi, maintain that ripe guava vibe. I must admit that here the scent feels a bit intense just when sniffing from the atomiser, but this is mainly in its opening; afterwards, they remain practically the same, even in performance. I assume they kept the floral base of the limited edition, although really no floral note comes to mind, as this fragrance remains quite linear and, like the original from 2009, is basically a smoothie of melon, kiwi, red berries and rhubarb over a musky base. I think despite everything I prefer the old one with the number 3 as it feels more aquatic, fresh and slightly vegetal, and doesn’t clash so much on a man, although really this has never worried me as I don’t see genders in fragrances.
This is another blind buy that smells juicy and fresh. It’s a very nice fragrance, quite fresh, fruity and aquatic. Super perfect for summer, ideal for everyday wear or a casual outing. Its star is watermelon, at least for me, I never stop smelling it. The watermelon note makes me feel like I’m on a beach day, very fresh. You can also detect a bit of strawberry, and over time you start smelling the florals, the woody notes, and very little incense. Personally, its longevity is decent for an EDT, especially in my climate where the heat is intense. It easily lasts 6 hours; of course, it depends on the skin, but I don’t mind, it can be re-applied.
Sweet, citrusy, fresh, delicious, addictive.
At first, I smelled liquor or fermentation, as if the fruits were very ripe, about to spoil, sweetly; but once used properly, that sensation faded, and now I especially feel the sweetness of the fruits, that strange blend of strawberry and watermelon. Apart from that, the floral base and the musk… I can’t distinguish the smoke. Among my favourite fresh and fruity scents, it’s ideal for summer. It lasts about 6 to 7 hours with more than 10 sprays. It’s an EDT.
At first, I got a smell of liquor or fermentation, as if the fruits were very ripe and about to go off, sweetly, but once I started using it properly that sensation passed and now I especially feel the sweetness of the fruits, that strange mix between strawberry and watermelon. Apart from that, the floral background and the musk… the smoke? I can’t distinguish it. It is one of my favourite fresh fruity scents, especially for summer. It lasts about 6 to 7 hours with more than 10 sprays. It’s an EDT.
It’s a warm, youthful, citrusy scent… A pity that, while all the notes blend perfectly and bring pleasure, those smoky woody florals are exquisite but the watermelon note bothers me and prevents me from enjoying this work of art. It’s a shame, but I just can’t handle it. It has excellent sillage and longevity. If you like that note, don’t hesitate; it’s a beautiful fragrance.
As a good fan of the brand’s fragrances, I acquired this edition. Having used the original of which I have a lovely memory, I wanted to recall that perfume which was quite successful. This Empress is lighter, quite fruity with a mix of soft acidity amidst pink floral notes. It could easily belong to the Fruit Collection as a fruit cocktail. Rather than an Empress imposing her power and seduction, she is on holiday, very comfortable and enjoying the good life in a worry-free summer. It is a pity to have overlooked the jasmine, which initially gave it sophistication and charm. Of the series, the best for me were Arcana 3: The Empress (original) and Arcana 18: The Lune. Total masterpieces with the enigma of a defining move.
If you fancy buying this little gem but don’t have the cash to go bust like me, I recommend getting a duplicate; I swear it smells exactly the same. It’s like the same thing but cheaper. Don’t be a fool like me, who bought it expensive only to later buy the cheaper version from another brand called Fragrance Kiwi Ocean. Buy it; it’s worth a third of what the Dolce costs. The only difference is the Dolce smells slightly more delicate, and if you like it, well, you’ve had your fill. Buy it. I now own both and don’t even use them. But I know my advice doesn’t matter, so you’ll buy it anyway. Wear it in the heat, and if it smells of kiwi and watermelon, that mother makes you feel like you’re at the beach. It lasts all bloody day. I recommend it 10/8.
If you are keen to buy this baby but do not have the money to spend as much as I did, I recommend you buy a dupe. I swear it smells the same; it is like the original but cheaper. Do not be a fool like me, who bought it expensive and then bought the cheap version from another brand called Fragrance Kiwi Ocean. Compare them; it is worth a third of what the Dolce costs, though the Dolce smells a little more delicate. If you like it, you have had your fill. Compare them; I now have both and do not even use them. But I know you will buy it anyway based on my comment. Use it in the heat, and if it smells of kiwi and watermelon, it will make you feel like you are at the beach. It lasts the whole damn day. I recommend it 10/8.
The opening is super fresh and you can feel the watermelon, but after 10 minutes of drying down, the peony becomes very strong. It does not smell like a delicate peony, but rather like air freshener peony.
I picked it up last year when it relaunched and let it rest until today, 21 September 2023. When I returned to using it, it smelled of sweet and soft garlic, but garlic! I don’t notice any smoke. Does anyone else experience this?
I bought it last year when it was relaunched (I think towards the end of the year, I am not sure). I used it a little and let it rest until now, 21 September 2023, and it has a slight sweet and soft garlic scent, but garlic! I do not detect the smoke note. Has this happened to anyone else?
It is the ideal fragrance for those of us who become quickly cloyed by intense fruity scents. Its fruity notes are in perfect balance with the florals and woods. It is sophisticated, delicate, unobtrusive, and smells of refinement. People never stop asking what fragrance I am wearing when I wear it, as it is a composition that stands out from the current commercial universe. I recommend it for day/evening wear, as it conveys a sense of lightness and freshness. It does not matter your age; it will make you feel young and radiant at every moment.
It is the ideal perfume for those who get tired quickly of intense fruity scents. It perfectly balances fruit with florals and woods. It is sophisticated and delicate, without going unnoticed; it smells of refinement. People always ask me what I’m wearing because it stands out from current commercial scents. I recommend it for day/afternoon due to that feeling of lightness and freshness. Age doesn’t matter; it makes you feel young and radiant.
I love it; it was a blind buy. I wanted it for its fruity notes, especially the delicious watermelon and peonies for this season of infernal heat. It has excellent longevity; I move around and can still smell it completely on me, on my clothes, and in the air. I certainly love it; it is delicious and I enjoy it greatly. Without a doubt, I will buy it again.
This edition could pass as a niche summer fragrance. It is rare, unconventional, ozonic, and fruity. The watermelon note feels nothing like the synthetic versions found in most perfumes, and the opening is green due to the rhubarb, even though it is not listed in the notes. The flower that predominates on my skin is Persian violet, which I adore in combination with the other notes. It dries down sweet and soft, floral, and musky. It is addictive and a beautiful perfume. Applause to the perfumer, and please do not discontinue this masterpiece.
I like it when it dries down as it becomes sweet, elegant, and floral, but I hate its opening which smells of watermelon; it barely smells of perfume when I first apply it. This changes once it dries, after about 10 minutes.
It smells like Fructis shampoo; I like it, but it’s more for informal occasions and summer.
I gifted this to my wife and she adored it from the first spray; the scent is so rich and elegant that I was inspired to wear it myself. It is undoubtedly the fragrance that has earned me the most compliments from girls. To me, it is unisex, fresh, distinctive, elegant, and suitable for any occasion, particularly in hot weather.
I love it. It smells clean, fruity, and floral, very feminine. I love wearing it to work because it has a very clean scent.
I’m not a fan of this type of fruity perfume, but I must admit I quite like L’imperatrice. I bought it because it was on a super offer in the free shop and used it for some summer holidays (definitely for warm climates). It’s fresh, sweet, and addictive, although I apply quite a few sprays because I feel it lasts very little, plus it’s quite soft.
Is it an EDT? But it lasts much longer than an EDP or a Parfum. It’s a very sweet, feminine, and long-lasting fragrance. You can tell the quality of the ingredients. The strawberry and watermelon last quite a while. The flowers are noticeable but subtle. It’s ideal for school or work, to receive compliments.
This perfume is the description of happiness. If they could bottle it, this beauty would undoubtedly be it. It’s incredible; it transports me to a hot day strolling through the streets of some Mediterranean city. It’s sweet yet fresh, and for an EDT, its longevity and projection are phenomenal on my skin. When I finish it, I’ll buy it again.
It reminded me of the Fa Watermelon deodorant I bought and didn’t like. That aquatic watermelon and strawberry vibe persists, and together they don’t appeal to me. Honestly, it smells cheap and poorly executed, though I don’t hate it. If I were looking for aquatic fruits, I’d prefer a thousand times an Escada like Sorbetto Rosso, which I usually enjoy. But tastes differ.
It has brought me memories of the Fa Watermelon deodorant I tried and didn’t like. That watery mix of watermelon and strawberry persists and, as a whole, doesn’t convince me. Honestly, it smells cheap and poorly executed, although I don’t hate it. If I’m looking for something fruity and aquatic, I’d a thousand times prefer one from Escada like Sorbetto Rosso. But I suppose to each their own.
What a beautiful watermelon. It’s a fruity floral perfume with an aquatic watermelon note, a clean scent, like a pretty girl. It feels so well-balanced and is fantastic for spring and summer, perfect for catching attention in a subtle way. I recommend it 100%.
A very balanced perfume; it smells of watermelon and strawberries without being cloying, thanks to the woody notes. The only thing I don’t like is that it lacks the longevity one expects; it’s almost like a splash. Nevertheless, it’s a delightful scent.
I bought it blindly. Like many, I enjoy taking a risk and surprising myself. The strawberry note excited me, but on my skin, the watermelon takes over, as if it has claimed the entire fragrance. It lasts about two hours on me, and I’m grateful it doesn’t last longer if I’ve had some wine.
At 34 degrees, this is the perfume you need to feel fresh while sipping a Sprite under the sun; it doesn’t feel overwhelming. It’s genuinely fruity with a watermelon and strawberry finish, like a smoothie with ice. It will be one of my summer favourites. I’ve had it for years and didn’t like it before because it tasted sour, probably due to the rhubarb, much like with Mugler’s Aura. Now, however, it’s a ripe, sweet, and juicy watermelon.
Smells like watermelon with a touch of pear. Nothing complicated, just pure fruit for those hot days.
