I bought it two years ago for my brother’s wedding; it is the strongest and most overpowering perfume I have ever heard of. I wanted something intense that would last for hours, and it delivered: more than 30 hours including the sillage, almost gave me a headache. The patchouli and pepper are very strong, and the rose is also quite prominent. I couldn’t see the end, used it a few times and eventually gave it away; it is the only one I don’t regret. I like the scent but it was completely suffocating, and even though the wedding was in November; if it had been in summer, I don’t know what the guests would have thought.
What a wonderful perfume! Absolutely incredible; it is, without a doubt, my favourite: so current, sexy and modern. I love the blend of roses with patchouli and that citrus yet sweet touch at the same time. It lasts for ages and leaves a beautiful trail. I am so delighted to have it; I adore it.
Another 10 from the genius Jean Paul Gaultier.
Well, it smells of mandarin and in the base of sexy roses. I don’t think it is more for the day, those days when you don’t want sweet perfumes. I give it a 7.
It smells of metallic roses and is very strong. I admit it is distinctive and different, but not suitable for blind buying: test it first. To me it is too intense and intrusive, although there are many fans. I insist: you must try it. I was gifted it and use it occasionally, but I would never buy it.
IT IS WRONG, THIS PERFUME IS THE EDP AND THE DESCRIPTION OF THE OTHER IS THE EDT
I had high expectations with MA DAME DE JEAN PAUL GAULTIER EDP, that cult perfume that is increasingly difficult to find. Warning: it is a difficult perfume. It has surprised me and will continue to surprise me. The feeling is that it was created as a laboratory product, with a sought-after artificial presence and delight in it. It sought beauty through chemistry. It reminds me of JOOP! HOMME, pure plastic strawberry and cherry. MA DAME is something more, fortunately. I don’t know if I liked it or disliked it; it encloses a Brechtian distance that for me, visceral and passionate, is complicated. The opening is spicy rose with orange, with undeclared anise and licorice, LOLITA LEMPICKA style, accompanied by a synthetic musk that gives it a stellar and metamorphic halo, of science fiction. It is a cold perfume, without emotion, shuffling formulas. The Le Male and Classique ads explode that technicist and mechanical vein. It doesn’t resemble almost any other women’s perfume; that originality is a virtue. It is not a fruity chypre and its classification as floral chypre is confusing; better aromatic musky floral. It is quite floral, but the rose is not sweet or powdery; it is calculating, cold, distant and enigmatic. It could be called METROPOLIS, like the robot in Fritz Lang: attractive but insensitive, beautiful but icy. The trail is acceptable and the longevity is considerable. The dry down is more pleasant because the rose starts to speak. It has lit a cedar cigarette, drunk a glass of Marie Brizard and its skin exhales a mix of rose, wood and anise. It has relaxed and told its secrets, revealing that it has feelings inside that acrylic shell. From understanding, sometimes, love is born.
Someone from Argentina who hasn’t used it and wants to sell it… I can’t find it.
Incredible! I found it online because it’s no longer available in physical stores. I applied it a couple of hours ago and the scent is developing. There are roses, perhaps synthetic, but to me they seem very sexy. I like it a lot and I think it will last for hours. It reminds me of Eclat by Victorio & Lucchino, but much more intense. If you find it, I recommend buying it at a good price. Like other perfumes they no longer sell, it seems incomprehensible.

Madame by JPG is an ode to the woman with character, the one who wields power, but not for an aristocrat, rather for a lady of the night, the queen of burlesque. I imagine a lady in an elegant Belle Époque cabaret, with sequins, a feather boa and a cigarette, made for the Parisian bohème, like Marguerite Gautier. It revolves around an opulent rose, patchouli and musk. Sincerely, I wouldn’t dare compare it to anything else; it is unique and unrivalled. It’s a pity it’s discontinued and I see with pessimism that JPG will create something like this again.
It reminds me of Miss Dior Le Parfum and quite a bit of Roses Elixir by Montale. It’s a rose with patchouli that is very cheerful and vibrant. The orange is very noticeable, adding freshness and sweetness. The musk, unlike Montale, is in the background, which I appreciate. The longevity is very good and the trail is noticeable when you move. If you like rose and aren’t looking for sweet scents, fly!
It reminds me a bit of Miss Dior Le Parfum and quite a bit of Roses Elixir by Montale. It is a very cheerful and lively rose with patchouli. The orange is very noticeable and adds freshness and a certain sweetness. The musk, unlike in Montale, is in the background without hogging the attention, which I appreciate. The longevity is very good and the trail is especially perceptible when moving. If you like roses and prefer scents that are not particularly sweet, I would go for it in a heartbeat!
I was gifted a vial years ago and didn’t use it until New Year’s Eve with a burnt-out scent; I sprayed it and everyone adored it. I finished it drop by drop and promised myself I’d buy more, but I waited too long and it’s now discontinued. I remember a spectacular orange opening with pepper, a juicy rose heart that wasn’t in any way cloying, and a musky, woody base. It’s fresh, earthy, very sexy and full of personality. It lasted forever without becoming heavy and the trail was excellent. A marvel; no wonder the perfumer is so talented. I don’t understand why they stopped it. Reissues of Ma Dame now!
Just tried it and it’s as if they swapped the protagonist for Miss Dior Le Parfum: here the rose reigns supreme, whereas in MDLP it’s the orange, but the patchouli is identical. I feel they share the same DNA. What joy to have found it! 🌹🌿
