UNDER THE PERGOLA's Morae is a unisex offering for women and men, launched in 2024 and created by perfumer Sian Lee.
It explores a warm-spiced, amber-leaning character, with rose to the fore, balsamic shading, and a gentle vanilla-musk-powder softness underneath.
Up top are clove, coriander, berries and rose. The clove provides glowing warmth, while coriander leaf and berries lend a livelier, fresh-spiced counterpoint.
At the heart, cinnamon, ginger, black pepper and sandalwood take over. Cinnamon and ginger sustain the spiced theme, black pepper contributes a dry, piquant lift, and sandalwood brings a smoothing, creamy wood note.
The foundation rests on musk, benzoin, patchouli and cedar. Benzoin gives the balsamic-vanilla warmth, patchouli lends earthy substance, and cedar alongside musk leaves a tidy, woody trail.
The stated accords are all present: warm spicy, amber, roses, fresh spicy, balsamic, vanilla, patchouli, musky and powdery. The rose is folded into the spices, and the patchouli is mellowed rather than stark.
