Reverentia introduces Oblique Murmure in 2025 as a new leather fragrance made for women and men. The perfumer behind it is Chris Maurice, who has composed a scent with a fresh top, a floral heart, and a woody, mossy base.
The title carries an air of mystery: a murmur from an angle rather than a straightforward statement. The composition follows that idea, pairing the warmth of leather with powdery iris and luminous jasmine.
The first impression comes from blackcurrant, pink pepper, bergamot and saffron. Blackcurrant gives a shimmering fruitiness, pink pepper a gentle spice, and saffron an unusual warmth that gestures towards the heart.
In the middle, geranium, jasmine, leather, amber, orris root and oud wood create a smooth but complex blend. The leather is less rugged than typical, buffed by floral notes and the dry powderiness of orris, while amber and oud keep it firm.
The base rests on patchouli, oakmoss, vetiver and oud wood. Oakmoss lends a classic green depth, vetiver and patchouli give an earthy texture, and oud wood continues its presence from the heart to form a lasting backbone.
