About Oud Motia
Oud Motia by HeavenDuft: A Meeting of Oud and Blossom
Oud Motia is a new fragrance from HeavenDuft, launched in 2024. It’s a gender-neutral scent in the floral oriental family, combining the resinous depth of oud with the freshness of jasmine sambac and rose.
Perfumer Tausif Shaikh is behind this composition, which opens with a soft citrus glow before descending into a warm, spicy heart and a woody, animalic base.
The top notes are unexpectedly gentle: floral hints, green leaves, and a squeeze of citrus create a bright prelude. That lightness soon gives way to a richer, more textured core.
In the middle, jasmine sambac – also known as sampaguita – mingles with spices and rose. The effect is creamy, with a delicate powderiness and a subtle animalic undertone that keeps things interesting.
At the base, Cambodian oud takes centre stage, supported by sandalwood, patchouli, amber, musk, and oud wood. This is where the fragrance becomes lingering, warm, and unmistakably oriental.
The accords listed by HeavenDuft include woody, warm spicy, floral, powdery, animalic, citrus, white floral, rose, patchouli, and oud. In practice, these elements don’t fight for attention; they settle into a balanced whole.
Oud Motia performs best in the evening or during colder months, when its warmth can fully unfold. Its sillage is noticeable yet not overwhelming, making it adaptable to many occasions.
Rather than chasing novelty, Oud Motia focuses on the classic interplay between dark wood and bright blossom. It feels familiar, but with enough nuance to hold its own.
This scent is for those who appreciate traditional Middle Eastern perfumery with a modern finish. Men and women who like rich florals, smoky woods, and a touch of spice will find plenty to enjoy here.
Oud Motia succeeds as a floral oriental that doesn’t compromise on either side of its personality. It’s a thoughtful, well-made perfume that works beautifully as an everyday signature for lovers of opulent scents.
