Miguel Matos is a pure genius; here he has created a floral masterpiece with a hint of pepper that captivates from the very first second. The opening is bright, then the flowers bloom without being clean or rancid, finishing with leather, wood, and an animalic base that adds real character. I detect an undeclared cannabis note that gives it a unique vibe. It’s a boss scent with personality that commands respect and curiosity rather than just compliments. I bought it blind and have no regrets, although I expected something darker and more mysterious. The longevity and projection are excellent, nothing more. If you’re a boss and haven’t heard of it before, buy it; it’s a keeper.

Probably my favourite floral perfume. I received a sample a few months ago and eventually had to go for the bottle. It’s a yellow floral (mimosa and gorse which at times produce an effect reminding me of some ylang-ylang focused perfumes) and white flowers, especially in the opening, combining with sweet notes over an animalic bed of beeswax and civet. A masterpiece by Miguel Matos. The intense violet colour of the fragrance (careful, it stains clothes) is already a prelude to what we’re about to encounter. One of the densest and most concentrated perfumes I know (reminds me a bit of the style of Francesca Bianchi or Baruti) that lasts forever and projects fantastically for hours. I see it as totally versatile; despite its versatility, it’s ideal for night and for use in cold climates; its floral and fun character makes it perfectly wearable in heat (I’ve used it during the day here in the Canaries and it works very well) and for day wear. That said, due to its intensity, I’m not sure it’s the best option if you work with people close by who might be sensitive to potent scents. To sum up, a 10/10 in every aspect and in my top 10 favourite fragrances of all time. Sincerely, I think the Calaj house is one of the best niche brands out there today and, in my opinion, is placing Romania at the very top of global perfume production. It’s a yellow floral with mimosa and gorse that recalls ylang-ylang, mixed with whites in the opening over a sweet base of beeswax and civet. To me, it’s a masterpiece by Matos. The deep violet bottle (careful, it stains) already hints at the density of what’s inside. It’s super concentrated, in the style of Francesca Bianchi or Baruti, lasting hours with fantastic projection. I see it as versatile: ideal for night or cold weather, but its floral character makes it wearable in heat (I use it in the Canaries and it works). Due to the intensity, it might not be the best choice if you work with people sensitive to strong scents. A 10/10, in my all-time top 10. I believe Calaj is one of the best niche houses out there and is putting Romania on the map. Many thanks to both for these jewels.
