  Thanks to the generosity of my friend Chefpepor, who gifted me a 5ml miniature containing barely 2ml of liquid, I was able to discover this fragrance dedicated to Egyptian actor Omar Sharif. This Pour Homme pays tribute to his figure, an icon with over 100 films who embodied both Eastern and Western masculine beauty, achieving success in Hollywood and Europe as the quintessential charismatic and dashing man. It is a spiced oriental that bears a striking resemblance to Balenciaga Pour Homme, perhaps with less testosterone and less earthy weight, yet sharing the same complexity and vibe, almost a clone. Launched two years later, it surely rode the coattails of BPH’s fleeting success, serving as an accessible entry point to that aromatic nature. Its creation is fully commercial, as many artists do today, but here lies genuine, well-made quality. If you can find this extremely rare bottle, you will feel all the glamour of hyper-metrosexual men with explosive fragrances from the late 80s. Its opening is an intense geranium bomb over classic fougère-floral accords, where carnation and rose take centre stage, creating notes that are hard to find nowadays, as scandalous men’s perfumes are no longer in fashion, though we pray this trend returns one day.
