  • It’s insane… I bought it three days ago. I was drawn in by the chatter that it’s similar to Tom Ford OL, and we all know what a bottle of that costs. I wore it once the day before yesterday and received many compliments. I especially like it, and during the day, you notice different aromas: leather, wood, roses… it has it all. It hasn’t disappointed me at all; it was a blind buy. I recommend it 100% 👍

  • My story with this fragrance started oddly: upon receiving and spraying it, I found it strange and thought it wasn’t for me. I waited a week, and it became a beast of a discovery. I don’t know the super-hyped Tom Ford Ombre Leather, but this Rare Carbon is a genuine marvel. The opening is floral, spicy leather—delicious. As it dries, rose and violet take centre stage with a sweet touch; the leather remains in the background with supporting spices. It has me hooked and amazed. Projection isn’t eternal; on me, it lasts a couple of hours before settling into a personal bubble that accompanies me deliciously for another five hours. On skin, it lasts 7–8 hours. Highly recommended, without a doubt.

  • It disappointed me. At first, it smells somewhat like Orientica’s Cuir, but after four hours, the leather disappears, leaving behind a cheap women’s amber perfume. What a shame; I expected much more.

  • Cristobal72

Truly an extraordinary fragrance. A present, powerful, and realistic leather. Longevity and projection are excellent. I bought it blindly and for the price, you get a 10/10 perfume.

  • bandini25

I waited to use it several times before reviewing. After reading it was a dupe of Ombre Leather, I imagined an intense, animalic leather. To my surprise, it’s an intense leather with a floral and sweet twist that’s delightful. I wouldn’t call it a dupe; it’s a lovely, more wearable and fresh leather, like the seats of a new car. If you’re new to leathers, this is the best option. Lasts well—not a beast, but fair value for the price. The trail is good, though it could be better given leather is the main note. Would I buy it again? Maybe. Are there better ones? Possibly. But it’s worth it and I love it.

I own OL Parfum and know the EDP well. Rare Carbon has that worked leather vibe, like a jacket or expensive shoe, similar to Ombre Leather, but with its own rhythm. It’s a more herbal, fresh, and slightly sweet leather, perhaps due to the cedar. It’s not a dupe of OL; rather, it’s a ‘sport’ version. I wouldn’t recommend buying blindly if you don’t love leather accords. Lasts 8–10 hours on skin, more suitable for daytime than night, though it works year-round on cool summer evenings.

  • HardBoy24RD

Watch out! If you let it mature for a good while, it bears a strong resemblance to OL, with improved trail and projection. My girlfriend said it smelled of tobacco at first; I left it for two months and now it’s a beast—much better, more compliments, and far more wearable. It’s worth more than Afnan’s 9PM. 100% buy.

  • One of the best leather fragrances around right now, delicious in all its phases, very masculine, seductive, and attractive. Essential for any collection, with great presentation, price, and phenomenal longevity and projection. You must own it.

  • Erik el Rojo

A very good fragrance… for real… And rather than being a dupe of the Ombre Leather EDP, I find it closer to the Parfum. They’re very similar—those rose notes make them almost identical!

  • gastontito20

I have Tom Ford’s Ombré Leather and the truth is Rare Carbon is 95% identical, although you can feel the huge difference in quality… Ombré Leather is much better by far.

  • Matiasoficio

I’ve never tried Ombre Leather, but this smells like a brand-new car—something spicy. I don’t get much leather, so I’d describe it more as a fresh vehicle rather than heavy. I like it, but I wouldn’t recommend it blindly.

  • I’m not sure if it resembles Ombré Leather because I haven’t tried it. On my nose, it has a leather touch for the first hour and above all raspberry from start to finish (perhaps due to that sweetened rose or a hidden note, who knows). If they tell me it’s the new Montblanc Individuel EDP (less synthetic and with better longevity), I’d believe it without a doubt. I’m surprised that no one has noticed the resemblance.

  • Rare Carbon by Afnan opens with the typical strength of leather perfumes: direct and no-nonsense, but what makes it unique is that playful touch that gains strength over time. At first, a spiced bergamot gives way to a heart of leather softened by lavender and nutmeg, adding freshness and spice without being raw. Compared to Tom Ford’s Ombré Leather, Rare Carbon is in the same smoky leather spectrum but less serious. While Ombré Leather is sophisticated and dark, Rare Carbon is more accessible and fun. The leather here is friendly, less dense, ideal for those seeking intensity without intimidation. If Ombré Leather is a leather jacket for an exclusive event, Rare Carbon is that jacket for a relaxed afternoon. In terms of longevity, it lasts about 8 hours on skin and projects strongly for the first 2. It lacks a bit of sweetness to vary, as it is very linear in leather, amber, and musk. In summary, if you are looking for powerful leather with great value for money, Afnan delivers handsomely. It’s not the most versatile, but it is an intense and youthful option that could surprise you more than its luxury inspiration.

  • They recommended it as a clone of Tom Ford Ombré Leather, and after trying both, I say Rare Carbon is excellent. The first hour smells exactly like the TF, then it varies, and after three or four hours, it becomes sweeter. It has moderate projection and lasts a minimum of six hours; I wore it to work with lots of fresh air and people, and at six hours it still appeared by surprise, although it drops after three. I think it has good value, doesn’t smell synthetic, and as a clone of a super expensive one, it’s a better quality-to-price option. I recommend it 100%, I love it and use it daily without getting bored!

  • Hello! Comparing the two, yes, it is very similar to Ombré Leather right out of the bottle and stays that way for a few hours, then evolves little and becomes almost identical to Rasasi La Yuqawam until the end. It’s a good perfume if you like the style, but I think it lacks the depth and evolution of Ombré Leather. I was looking for something similar to the Tom Ford, especially in the dry down, and this doesn’t have it. Still, it’s not bad; it’s a good inspiration. Cheers!

  • This fragrance is a total hit, following Godolphin very closely. On skin, it lasts 9 to 10 hours and then stays in a personal bubble 🔥🔥

  • It starts with leather and violets which, on my nose, are a disaster, but it becomes slightly more bearable as it dries down. I don’t see it as versatile as others, but it could work for fresh or cold nights. Edit: it became intolerable for me; the violets are very potent and make me dizzy, so I don’t think I’ll wear it except on very cold days. I just smelled the Tom Ford dry down and yes, they are similar; Rare Carbon has the violets turned up too high to mimic the flowers of the TF, what a pity because the Tom Ford was my favourite, it’s a clean, rounded leather that digests better.

  • I picked it up a week ago and used it today when the cold was absolutely brilliant. Rare Carbon opens brutally with a dark, spiced leather reminiscent of Tuscan Leather, but the spice soon fades, leaving something floral and aromatic, transforming into a more refined leather without quite reaching Ombré Leather. They are very similar, but the nuances are different, like comparing the black on an OLED screen to an LCD: the OLED is deep and vivid, but the LCD doesn’t disappoint either. After a few hours, it becomes subtle, floral, musky, with the leather note remaining. This is my short opinion; I’ll keep testing it to see what surprises it has in store.

  • Alejandro Monterrosa

Rare Carbon is a clone of Ombré Leather: clean, elegant leather with a floral touch that gives it its own identity. Perfect for autumn, winter, and spring. The key difference is that Rare Carbon projects much more strongly and intensely; unlike Ombré Leather, it doesn’t evolve as much and retains the same scent after drying until it fades on the skin. That doesn’t make it bad—in fact, I recommend it for those 28 and over as it has nothing juvenile about it. Scent: 9/10 Longevity: 8/10 Projection: 8/10

  • Overall I liked it, but I expected more of a leather scent. After two hours, I perceive more vetiver, which predominates.

  • EnriqueSeguraJ

Smells of leather with violet leaves and rather unpleasant flowers for my taste. It is a fragrance for dressing up very well. I prefer the Maison Alhambra Tuscan Leather replica, even without the obvious raspberry note. Very nice packaging. It is a good perfume but not very versatile; you save $8 with the Toscano Leather.

  • A birthday gift that I’ve worn across several seasons. The opening is bold, spicy, with a very prominent leather note. The alcohol fades within 15 seconds, then it settles instantly. For the first hour, florals dominate with a light leather and wood base, before the oud and vetiver emerge, softening the leather. It feels entirely natural, not synthetic at all. Very masculine despite the floral side. From the second hour onwards, it becomes more wearable and friendly, though a single spray in the heat can be overwhelming. I’d rule it out for summer unless you want to drown anyone you meet in woods and leather. Autumn and winter require more sprays, which is when it truly shines. Best for day wear on formal occasions when it’s cold, and even better at night. Crucially, it’s for dressing up well—not necessarily elegantly, but properly dressed. It won’t go with espadrilles, shorts, or a singlet; simply doesn’t match. It lasts, projects wildly, and is rich, though not for blind buying. It’s potent and won’t appeal to everyone. Given the price, I think it’s excellent value.

  • Note: the first spray smells incredibly potent of leather or ‘already smoked’ tobacco, you need to give it several sprays for the real aroma to come out. No need to macerate or oxidise. If you like Fahrenheit-style scents (it’s not the same, perhaps more current), you will surely like it. That combustible smell of mixed leather and tobacco with flowers is very interesting and pleasant. But yes, you must spray it into the air before the first time, that tobacco smell does not go away on its own (happens with many fragrances, something accumulates that doesn’t smell good). It creates a false perception. Certainly not for everyone, it smells very good, very masculine, I think more for mature people. Very long-lasting: on clothes more than 24 hours and on skin more than 4, then close to the skin. I am just starting to test it. I feel it can be used in cold and heat, moderating the sprays. Good acquisition.

Rare Carbon clings incredibly well to Ombre Leather Parfum; it’s that powerful leather scent with a sweetened, floral touch that makes it feel fruity; the classic is cleaner, this one is sweeter. Ideal for nights, cold weather, and formal events where you want to stand out. It’s delicious but difficult to wear, DO NOT BUY BLINDLY if you haven’t heard the original Tom Ford. The box is a two-piece trunk, thick and durable material, if it falls, nothing happens to the perfume (9.5). The bottle has thick glass and a revolver design, the cap is light but holds the weight (9.0). The atomiser is good, could be better, reaches 20 cm (8.5). It cost me $35, I’ve seen between $25 and $35 (9.0). Lasts very well for 7 hours and 2 extra sprays close to the skin, on clothes it smells until you wash the garment (9.0). Projection of 1.5 metres for the first 2 hours (9.0). The trail is excellent for a good while (9.0). Compliments are a acquired taste, it’s not its strong suit; it only suits men with experience in perfumes, a beginner might like it (7.0). Final note: 8.7. Conclusion: If you like Ombre Leather Parfum it’s 95% identical, nobody will notice it’s an Arabic fragrance, but do not buy it blindly.

  • I don’t know Ombre Leather well. I bought this blind as my first leather and I loved it. It smells like leather in a garden full of flowers. Rich. I would use it in elegant situations and without much heat. It’s a 10/10. Nothing more to say.

  • Coloniero

100% refined, for when you’re well-dressed. Pure elegance. I was detected at three metres without being seen… they say it’s for winter. So good that I wear it whenever and however I want…

  • I don’t believe it’s a copy of Ombre Leather, but rather an inspiration where the leather-oud duo evolves: upon spraying, sweet violets accompany it, but soon they yield to the violet leaf note. What remains is an ozonic, fresh, and green leather, ideal for summer or spring nights. As it dries, vetiver takes the spotlight with an earthy touch reminiscent of Russian Leather and Bottega Veneta. While OL is refined and floral, this is green-ozonic and woody. In summary, it’s not a good alternative to OL; it fails as a dupe, but it smells great on its own.

My experience with Rare Carbon by Afnan: a sincere review born from a love for sweetness and a shock at the dark. I bought it blind, being a fan of sweet perfumes that embrace rather than impose. Rare Carbon was a blow to the face with a leather glove. The opening, that floral ambush: the moment I applied it, I encountered a powerful and confusing combo. There is lavender, yes, but mixed with violets and aggressive dark roses, nothing fresh or romantic, more like withered flowers in an old vase. Added to this is a dry spicy touch, as if nutmeg and cinnamon try to provide structure, but they are dragged down by that dusty, almost rancid floral sensation. At first, I rejected it all; it gave me nausea, as if someone were handing me a grandmother’s perfume that hasn’t changed in decades. It reminded me of the infamous Toy Boy by Moschino, that mix of dusty roses and poor taste that makes you back away. The heart, once the chaos settles: after an hour, it begins to transition. The flowers calm down and give way to a earthy, masculine base, where the leather truly appears, though not as the sole protagonist. Patchouli and vetiver (perhaps) balance the sweetness and spices, adding a green, dark, and slightly smoky touch. This is where Rare Carbon makes sense, as if the notes align after fighting. It no longer shouts; it whispers with a deep voice. The base, the reconciliation: over time, it settles. The base is warm and enveloping, with a resinous amber that gives it body and a musk that cleanses and softens what came before. Labdanum enters with animal texture, that dark and deep sensation, almost modern incense. All that chaotic beginning becomes an elegant, mysterious trail, super mature, something you wear with a black coat on a cold night, not to seduce, but to command respect. Conclusion: Rare Carbon is neither friendly nor versatile, neither youthful nor flirtatious. At 25, I feel it as a ceremonial perfume, for a few times a year, on specific occasions, with a formal outfit and a firm attitude. It’s not easy to love, but with time and the right context, it teaches you about maturity, silence, and well-handled darkness. Don’t expect everyone to like it, much less girls, but it’s something very out of my comfort zone for me. It’s a perfume that took me through rejection, discomfort, and then respect. And perhaps, one day, even admiration.

  • I’m not passionate about discussing notes; I prefer sharing experiences. Rare Carbon is 80% TF Ombre Leather and it smells glorious: hyper-masculine, refined, dark, the scent of a bad boy in a leather jacket, yet also suitable for a guy in jeans, a shirt, and a blazer. I can see myself wearing it on a night out with friends, in a speakeasy, or after work. In every setting, it projects masculinity, virility, and seduction. Obviously, it’s not for anyone over 35. My advice: only if you enjoy Old Leather. Princesas should abstain. Scent: 9/10 Trail: 8.5/10 Longevity: 8.5/10

  • Nothing to do with Ombre Leather. I smelled Ombre Leather several times in airports. A smell of extremely high quality leather, like smelling clean shoes. A masculine smell, pleasant, addictive. I decided to buy this Rare Carbon obviously because it’s more affordable. And when it arrived, with all the world’s enthusiasm, it seemed I had ordered a completely different perfume to Ombre Leather. The opening is floral, but too cloying. The leather takes a long time to appear and it’s not a pure leather like Ombre Leather. This feels much less. In fact, after a while, that excessive sweetness started to annoy me and give me headaches. I wouldn’t buy it again. Better to save and invest in a good perfume like Ombre Leather.

  • Nothing to do with Ombré Leather… The opening is very artificial and somewhat sweet, almost like a pharmacy gum. If you smell it very close you get dizzy and all. In the dry down it can come to remind something of the Ombré Leather DNA but no more… I don’t know if they’ve sent me a wrong decant or what, but this rubbish I won’t put on my skin even if they pay me.

  • I had to try a bad batch, because on my skin it smelled like a car workshop and synthetic leather with fixatives that have a plastic smell. I’d like to give it another opportunity later because I love leather fragrances, but from afar it is one of the most synthetic and bad I’ve heard of that olfactive family.

  • Nazareno Aranda

I’m a fanatic of motorsport and this along with a replica of Fahrenheit I have, are my signature perfumes to attend car events. I mention that because Rare Carbon transports me to that environment, for that aroma so similar to a new modern car given by the leather smell. I must mention that Rare Carbon IS NOT A COPY of Ombre Leather, IT ONLY HAS A PART of it. This perfume has a part of Ombre Leather for the modern leather, a part of Tuscan Leather for combining leather accords with something African raspberry-fruity, and a part of Fahrenheit for the violet and also spicy. And besides that, an animalic woody part of oud is added that is always in the background. For me, a great perfume, with presence. As for performance, it’s medium. It lasts about 8 hours on skin, projecting strongly for 1 hour, and another hour of intimate bubble, then it passes to a skin trail.

  • Lenin cuello

For me, compared to commercial brands, no Arabic perfume is equal, they all have similar accords but this one has a very pronounced ozonised burnt wood smell, that fireplace smell is fantastic and lasts quite a while.

  • Afnan Rare Carbon. Let’s see… every time I buy a fragrance, the first thing I do is smell the inside of the cap. It was a blind buy and when I smelled the cap along with the atomiser, I swear I immediately identified the scent of some cough syrup. I was very disappointed. Then I sprayed myself on my wrist and identified the cough syrup smell again, but this time it lasted only 5 or 10 seconds until the excess alcohol evaporated and then everything improved drastically; that delicious warm leather aroma with sweet blackberries arrived (even though no similar note is declared). The evolution is very linear, but in this case, it seems more like an advantage. During the dry down, it is true it reminds me a bit of Tom Ford’s Ombre Leather. Is what I’m writing madness? It might be, but that’s how it is on my nose. They aren’t identical, nor do I even know if to call it a dupe, because this RC has its own thing; I just say it reminds me of it at times. It lasts a solid 8 to 10 hours with heavy projection at the start and moving to a bubble after the dry down. Smells well masculine but not necessarily refined, it goes perfectly with urban boots, jeans and a leather jacket, but also with something more casual like shoes, shirt and blazer. In my view, it could be an all-year fragrance with its considerations. From Bois Pacifique by Tom Ford, which didn’t surprise me with any aroma, this one has managed it. In fact, because I’ve liked RC so much, I’ve just ordered Rare Reef blind as well, I’ll tell you. I pass to smell this RC 3 to 5 times a day since I have it and I think it will also dethrone Bois Pacifique as my signature. What more, for the price… there’s not much to think about.

  • manolochaos

I’ve tried many Arabic leather testers and most disappointed me with that initial synthetic vibe, but this Rare Carbon is a love from start to finish. The note quality is top-notch: a lovely leather blended with flowers, where my nose detects a soft rose with violet and woods with amber in the base. The result is a rich, spicy, floral fragrance with a sweet, warm musky touch. It’s an intimate scent, for short distances, nothing invasive, delicate and elegant, lasting on my skin for about 5 or 6 hours. I’ve worn it alongside Ombre Leather and it resembles it closely, though this one is more floral and sweet, which I prefer. Now that spring is arriving here in Spain, it will be one of my favourites, as it suits temperatures of 15 to 17 degrees perfectly; although it’s more of a night scent, it’s also very pleasant by day. I’ve already ordered the 100ml bottle for around 34 euros and can’t wait for it to arrive so I can spritz this wonder.

  • menendezmx

Ever since I smelled it, I became too interested, as I was looking for a scent where leather was the main accord. I bought a decant because by miracle I found someone selling it here in my city and I didn’t hesitate, they cost me 50 Mexican pesos for the 5 millilitres. I really fell in love. I didn’t buy it because I suspected my girlfriend would gift it to me for Christmas and that’s exactly what happened, haha. I’m in love with this perfume. Despite them saying it resembles Ombre Leather, it really doesn’t smell like that until several hours into the dry down. To me, the opening seems somewhat fresh, like fresh leather, as well as a bit synthetic, but I dislike it not at all. Besides, it lasts a lot and projects quite well. With about 7 sprays you have for several hours. Then they tell me I stink but I love that because they don’t tell me it’s something bad, on the contrary, they like it.

  • Greetings to all seeking an honest and definitive opinion on this perfume king. I try not to ramble or discuss technical notes, focusing only on the sensations and the smell. I’d been thinking for months to add it to my collection but always put it off, adding others I thought I needed first. I didn’t have one with this olfactive DNA, and that’s what motivated me to buy it, almost risking it might not be to my liking. I must say I have no regrets; it has a wonderful smell, it screams masculinity at its finest, like stepping into a new car with leather seats impregnated with an exquisite aroma of rose and cinnamon, something spicy/sweet but dry. It feels very refined, full of distinction and character. The day I applied it, I felt I was wearing an aura that radiated seriousness, sophistication with a hint of mystery and attraction, making people want to approach without wanting to move away. To finish, these were my impressions trying to explain it with simple words: I consider this a perfume every man must have, because it smells spectacular and will make you feel like a gentleman who is respected, being a magnet for compliments and praise.
