Riviera Nights by Jacques Bogart is a woody-spicy fragrance for men. Within minutes, I don’t smell those fruits Fragrantica mentions. It sounds like something I’ve heard before, perhaps from Jacques Bogart or another brand. It smells classic and formal. I don’t like it as much as Arabian Nights until an hour in. I’ll see how it evolves and let you know.
I’m wearing it again and I can detect the fruits and tonka bean, yes. But that musky note sounds synthetic to me, like other fragrances. The projection is medium-low and the longevity is questionable. I still prefer its twin brother, Arabian Nights.
What a find! I met it years ago alongside Arabian Nights and Jacques Bogart, knowing nothing about them. At first, it was a disaster; it didn’t smell like anything I expected. Prejudices kill in perfumery… I wore it for years and couldn’t understand why. I found it cheap and gave it a try. It reminds me of Cacharel’s Nemo; if you test them together, the resemblance is brutal, though Riviera is sweeter. If you like Nemo, give this a go. It’s an ignored gem; hardly anyone knows it, let alone what it smells like. You buy it blind because there are no testers. Cardamom, tonka, dried fruit, and nutmeg with a subtle woody base. Intense and intoxicating but short-lived: it’s gone in six hours, but while it lasts, it’s pure enjoyment. It’s very synthetic, yet I love it. It smells different and offers something that’s no longer around. Recommended if you like tonka, cardamom, and sweetness without going overboard.
Didn’t like it at all… it’s a cousin of Bogart Pour Homme and that one is a real turn-off for me, very cloying. At least it came to ten quid, so it’s not a huge loss.
First time wearing it and it didn’t hook me: it clings to the skin. Smells nice, but that’s about it. Reminds me of Caron Pour Homme but more synthetic. Strange, as Bogart usually has more punch.
