  • I bought it blindly because I’m a fan of TF’s Rose Prick. After falling in love with the Rose of China, I decided to go for this one as its notes caught my attention. I must say, it disappointed me. The scent is a citrusy, musky rose, nothing I haven’t smelled before. It didn’t impress me as TF usually does. It was a bit of a ‘MEH’. What really let it down, badly, was its poor longevity and imperceptible trail. I couldn’t smell it after less than an hour, even burying my nose in my skin. So, I let it go. Too expensive for what it offers.

  • Two or three weeks ago, a tester of Rose d’Amalfi finally arrived in my city. As soon as I saw it on the shelf (it had been ages since anything new appeared at TF), I asked to try it, crossing my fingers that the Rose Prick tester would also arrive—that’s the one I truly wanted to know. I had few expectations for Rose d’Amalfi, thinking ‘well, just another rose’, but I was met with a delightful surprise! It’s a dense, almost honeyed perfume, candied rose, concentrated like jam, reminiscent of Bond 9 West Side, or a Lady Vengeance with an overdose of treacle, or a Tresor La Nuit Musc Diamant with the musk dialled right down… There isn’t a single woody note here, and I understand why darlenerock fled in terror if she was expecting something like Rose Prick (which I got to know the day before yesterday)—they have nothing in common! Amalfi Rose is creamy, round, sweet, almost intoxicating because it envelops you. I absolutely love these interpretations of rose. If it weren’t so outrageously expensive in Argentina right now (where even paying in instalments isn’t feasible), I’d buy it without blinking…

  • I tried it again after that October 2023 experience… I absolutely love it. What can I say? If I had the money, I’d have bought it straight away. It’s a creamy rose with a slight talciness, full-bodied, lacking nothing and having nothing superfluous. If anyone knows of a ‘dupe’, clone, or similar in this style, I’d be delighted to hear about it…
