If you love green tea, buy it now. It opens with a radiant green tea note before fig (the fruit, not the leaf) joins in. The fig’s sweetness softens the tea’s astringency, creating an incredible combo. It’s not sweet; it’s perfect balance. In the dry down, there’s a damp, earthy note—I suspect vetiver, but to my nose it smells more like an eraser. Projection is good for about an hour and a half, then it settles close to the skin, though I can still detect it for around seven hours, occasionally throwing out a pleasant burst. I don’t own Gris Charnel by BDK, but I do have the so-called best clone, Francique 63.55 from Fragrance World. No comparison. They might converge slightly in the late dry down, but for me, this seaside infusion is far more enjoyable. Totally unisex.
If green tea is one of your favourite notes, as a certain YouTuber might say, take a look at this fragrance. It begins with a radiant green tea, soon joined by fig (the fruit; nothing to do with fig leaves). The fig’s sweetness tames the astringency of the green tea, forming an exceptional combo. It’s not a sweet fragrance; it’s the perfect balance for me. Gradually, a damp, earthy note emerges in the base—I assume this should be vetiver, though my nose doesn’t associate it with any type of vetiver (sometimes I’d define it as the scent of an eraser). For a little over an hour and a half, it maintains a decent projection and trail, before settling close to the skin. However, in my case, I can still detect it without difficulty for about seven hours, and it even throws out occasional pleasant bursts. I don’t own Gris Charnel by BDK, but I do have the supposed best clone, Francique 63.55 from Fragrance World. No comparison. First impression is very pleasant. Fresh green tea notes with a touch of sweet fig that gradually takes centre stage. Within the brand it’s not cheap, but compared to other market options, it’s excellent. I’d like to see how it stacks up against Fico by Amalfi, as they seem to share some similarities at first. Lasting power is correct.
