This new fragrance, launched in 2025, has been developed by perfumer Jean-Christophe Hérault. Since 2008, many of us (including myself) were hypnotised by The One EDT but disappointed by its short longevity. As betrayed lovers, we’ve broken our beloved’s heart time and time again, only to fall for her promises once more, yet we still love her unconditionally and wait for the day she gifts us eternal love in the form of a perfume. I’m grateful that in Europe the box omits empty promises of 16 hours and nonsense about 97% approval. This The One Parfum is what all her fans will buy, almost like a religious sect. Only this time (finally) it makes us smile. Upon application, a sublime labdanum greets us with spicy, resinous, and ambered accords. The DNA of the original appears gradually, timidly in the background. In my case, I felt contradictions at first; it seemed a hybrid between Hugo Boss Bottled Elixir and the original EDT. I consider Boss Bottled Elixir to be among the best in current perfumery with spectacular performance, so this Parfum didn’t blow my mind, but it fulfils part of what we hoped for. Max Forti longed for an elixir version with Alicante touches and oud nuances. I hope someone at D&G hears this. Longevity is 7-8 hours and in my personal bubble, it lasts forever. I don’t rule out that it improves with age. Is it worth it? As a lover of the line, a definite yes. I won’t fall for the temptation of the new 2025 EDP, at most I’ll try it in-store and be glad I didn’t buy it. P.S. edited a few days later: the 16-hour and 97% approval advertising belongs to the new EDP version. After resting, the pepper note has emerged with force, almost dominating the opening. Projection remains moderate, but it has gained sillage. Longevity stays at 8 hours, but they are consistent 8 hours where you don’t stop perceiving it.
Tested this morning on skin and dry-down. In short, it’s 90% of the EDP. Spectacular aroma, but I was too hopeful about the performance reviews; I regret it wasn’t so. 🤯 You can tell the high oil concentration leaves a greasy feel. The first notes have good projection, but after the first hour, it decays noticeably, staying skin-deep with longevity similar to the 2015 EDP. In short, a pity, and I’m glad I didn’t follow the early reviews blindly and bought it on impulse. A total disappointment 😞.
Exquisite in the opening. Very ambered with noticeable tobacco as it dries. The bad part is that on my skin it lasts very little. Upon spraying, I detect it skin-deep; what a pity for such poor performance given how rich it smells. I hope letting it macerate improves the longevity.
Since 2008 we’ve worn our skin out with The One EDT, but we were frustrated that it evaporated in nothing. As deceived fans, we’ve gone on breaking our beloved’s heart over and over, yet we still love her madly and wait for her to gift us that eternal love in the form of a perfume. Thank goodness, in Europe they didn’t sell us the box with promises of 16 hours of longevity nor that nonsense about 97% approval. This The One Parfum is what all her fans are going to buy, as if we were sectarians. But this time, finally, it makes us smile. On opening, a sublime labdanum welcomes us with spicy, resinous, and ambered accords. The DNA of the original appears little by little, timidly in the background. In my case, I have mixed feelings at first because it smells like a hybrid between Hugo Boss Bottled Elixir and the original The One EDT. As a warm, spicy, resinous, and ambered scent, I consider Boss Bottled Elixir to be the best today and lasts forever, so this The One Parfum hasn’t blown my head. But deep down, it fulfils in part what many hoped for. Max Forti always dreamed of an elixir version with Alicante touches and oud nuances. I hope someone at D&G hears him. In my case, it lasts about 7-8 hours and in my personal bubble all the time. I don’t rule out that it lasts longer if you let it rest a bit. Is it worth it? As a lover of this line, my answer is a resounding yes. I say I won’t fall into the temptation of the new 2025 EDP, at most I’ll try it in-store and be glad I didn’t buy it. P.S. edited this a few days later: the advertising of the 16 hours and 97% approval belongs to the new EDP version. After a few days of resting, the most striking thing is that the pepper has gone flying until almost dominating the opening. Projection remains moderate, but it has gained in sillage. Longevity stays at 8 hours, but they are 8 consistent hours where you don’t stop perceiving the perfume.
If you already own the EDP, you won’t find anything new here; they are very similar. The performance didn’t seem much different from the EDP; it’s there but discreet. I suppose D&G, with their habit of releasing flankers at will, decided The One needed another version to refresh interest in the line.
The One for Men Parfum is a spicy, ambered, and woody fragrance. Upon opening, it smells sweet and condimented, with nutmeg notes and other ambered aromas. As time passes, the DNA of amber and tobacco from the original becomes noticeable, but here the spicy touch predominates more. After several hours, the base is wood, patchouli, spices, and amber, with that trail of tobacco that fades away little by little. It is designed for fresh or cold days, with a more nocturnal air than the EDT and EDP versions; although it maintains the soul of the line, it is sweeter, equally pleasant but less versatile. The longevity with me has been excellent, over 10 hours, so it improves compared to previous ones, although the sillage stays stuck to the skin, neither imperceptible nor overwhelming, which I believe is part of the character of this line. I liked the scent, it is faithful to the brand and seems a good addition; it recalls the style of the new Toy Boy 2, so perhaps I will lean towards one of the two.
Tested this morning on skin and dry. In summary, it is 90% of the EdP. Spectacular scent, but… very excited by what I had read in the first reviews and comments about the performance, and unfortunately it is not so in my case. Once sprayed, the high concentration of essential oils is noticeable, leaving a lot of unctuousness on the skin. The first movements have good projection, but no more than an hour passes and it decays noticeably, staying right on the skin and with a longevity similar to the 2015 EdP. What a pity and I am glad I didn’t let myself be carried away by the impulse of the first opinions and bought it blindly. A total disappointment.
I like the line; this is the darker, more nocturnal version. I detect the burnt orange, tobacco, amber, and spices. Everything is lovely here. However, this house has a policy of terrible performance for their perfumes. The opening is good, but after 15 minutes, almost nothing is perceptible. Gradually, it disappears from the skin as if you never wore it. Let it be known that this is a new launch with no weird reformulations. This doesn’t happen only with this line; it affects others too. The Devotion and K scents manage to last but aren’t my style. I bought a Light Blue EDT from 2025 and it’s the same: a good opening that then vanishes quickly without projection. I struggled to sell it for €20 because no one wanted to pay more; people see it as just another supermarket scent. Although supermarket scents are bombs compared to these from D&G. A pity. Spoiler: the other The One from this year is worse in performance.
Dolce & Gabbana The One Parfum is a well-crafted amber fragrance. The opening has a subtle orange, nothing invasive but enough to give an elegant and distinct twist. That initial citrus note adds brightness before diving into a warm, deep heart. In the development, it recalls Givenchy Society Ambrée quite a bit, with that modern, sensual, and slightly spiced amber profile, ideal for the evening. The longevity is good, superior to previous versions, and the projection is potent: a proper nocturnal beast. Ideal for nights out or dinners where you want to make a presence without losing class. An intense, masculine, and mature reinterpretation that finally does it justice in terms of performance.
It smells rich upon opening. It has a lot of amber and the tobacco is very noticeable when drying. The bad thing is that on my skin it lasts very little. When sprayed, it is noticeable right on the skin, what a pity that it has such poor performance for how rich it smells. I hope that after letting it macerate for a while the longevity improves.
The One for Men Parfum is spicy, ambered, and woody. The opening is sweet with nutmeg and other amber tones. As it develops, the amber and tobacco DNA of the original becomes noticeable, but this version stays spicier. After several hours, a woody base of patchouli, spices, and amber remains, with traces of tobacco until it fades. It’s geared towards fresh or cold days, more nocturnal than the EDT and EDP. Although it maintains the line’s DNA, it’s sweeter but equally pleasant, though less versatile. Longevity has been very good for me, over 10 hours, improving on previous versions. The sillage is close to the skin, not skin-deep or imperceptible, but it seems that’s part of the line’s personality. I liked it; it stays faithful to the saga and is a good addition, in the style of the new Toy Boy 2, so I’m likely to choose one of the two.
Dolce & Gabbana The One Parfum is a total success: ambered and very well achieved. It begins with a subtle orange, nothing invasive, which gives it an elegant and distinct touch compared to the rest of the line, adding luminosity before entering that warm and deep heart. In the development, it reminds me a lot of Givenchy Society Ambrée: a modern, sensual amber profile with a spicy touch, ideal for the night. The longevity is notably better than in previous versions and the projection is powerful, a genuine nocturnal beast without exaggeration. Perfect for going out, dinner, or events where you want to make a presence without losing class. It is a more intense, masculine, and mature reinterpretation of the The One DNA that, finally, does it justice in performance.
I find it exquisite: elegant, subtle, and formal. It lasts 8 to 10 hours on skin with just 5 sprays, and even longer on clothes. It has a moderate sillage, perfect for close encounters and formal occasions, much like Givenchy’s Reserve Privée. Truly exquisite; I recommend it.
On my skin, it smells like nothing, neither at the start nor afterwards. It’s such a weak scent that it’s hard to even smell it yourself. Perhaps I’m used to stronger fragrances, but if this is a Parfum, I’m shocked.
Right, straight to the point. It’s a flanker of my favourite fragrance, but I won’t let fame cloud my judgement. I picked it up at Macy’s for $190, which is a bit beyond my means, but I’d loved the dry-down. I’ve been wearing it about four times over two weeks. The opening is sweet orange and pepper, lasting an hour and a half, before the spiced amber takes over. Finally, it settles into a warm, distinctive, elegant, and rich amber tobacco note. However, here’s the catch: on my skin it barely lasts 7 hours; on clothes it goes up to 10 or more, but you only smell it if you get right up close. The projection is momentary, lasting about an hour at most. It doesn’t project like a beast. Given the price and the fact that it’s a Parfum, it should last and project more. Compared to the EDP I own, this one emphasises the spice, amber, and tobacco; it’s rich, intoxicating, and seductive, but feels lacking in power. Hopefully, it improves with time.
Quick test on my wrists and it hit me: a mature, elegant scent with a playful edge. What really surprised me is the performance; I’ve worn it for over 10 hours and it’s still throwing off bursts. You can tell it has a high concentration of oils. I’ll be keeping an eye on it because I expected little and it left me in shock. P.S. To those who say it doesn’t last… well, I think we need to take Fragrantica reviews with a pinch of salt.
