Trying out this fantastic fragrance today. A spectacular, sweet laugh, nuanced by tobacco and ambergris. I find it a daily perfume because it is soft and discreet. Very unisex. Straight onto the ‘want’ list. Scent: 10, Longevity: 8, Sillage: 7, Value for money: 6, Versatility: 10, Overall: 9.

Tobacco Rose is gorgeous: opulent, melancholic, and with a strong presence. Not due to a heavy trail, which is normal, but because it is the perfect complement for an important day where you want to stand out without being sweet or using intrusive oud. It’s an oakmoss crowned by a dried rose, in the style of a classic Chypre, with ambergris that I’m already used to. Very versatile: for informal meetings, family gatherings, or fresh spring walks. I don’t see it as festive, and I’m grateful it doesn’t feel as strident with beeswax as it does in other perfumes. Great longevity, lasting all day with just a few sprays. Very much in the Sisley style. What a beautiful gift.

  • After exploring other Papillon fragrances and searching for the great rose perfume, I found Tobacco Rosé. Liz Moores’ creations have a unique signature, with classic touches and natural ingredients that evoke past eras. That signature is present, but it’s not outdated; it’s entirely current and timeless. Although the name suggests otherwise, the protagonist is the rose: a brilliant interpretation of a deep, fleshy red rose with fruity nuances at the start and a jammy sensation thanks to the beeswax and rose absolutes. The tobacco is barely a footnote, with hay as the main accord, which is the only ‘catch’ if you were expecting more of that note. The weak point is the heart phase, where it fades a little after a wonderful opening to give way to the hay and beeswax, until in the dry-down the florals return with the ambergris, resulting in something brilliant. Despite this small price to pay, Tobacco Rose is a great sophisticated perfume, classy and totally unisex. Ideal for someone with experience and maturity, not so much for those looking for something more sparkly. A lovely scent that anyone with taste can praise. One of my favourites. Cheers!

  • After trying several Papillon fragrances and searching for the perfect rose-centric scent, I stumbled upon Tobacco Rosé. Liz Moores’ creations have a distinct signature, blending classic touches with natural ingredients that evoke bygone eras. This signature is present, yet it’s not an outdated fragrance; it is entirely modern and timeless. Despite the name, the star is the rose: a brilliant interpretation of a deep, fleshy red rose with fruity nuances at the outset and a jammy sensation thanks to the beeswax and rose absolutes. The tobacco is merely a whisper, with hay as the main accord, which is the only ‘catch’ if you were expecting more of that note. The weak point is the heart phase, where it fades slightly after a wonderful opening to make way for the hay and beeswax, until the dry-down brings the florals back with the ambergris, resulting in something magical. Despite this small hiccup, Tobacco Rose is a sophisticated, classy, and totally unisex perfume. Ideal for someone with experience and maturity, not so much for those seeking something sparklier. A lovely scent that anyone with good taste can appreciate. One of my favourites. Cheers!
