  • I’ve had this for about three-quarters of a week. While some compare it to By The Fireplace by Margiela, it bears absolutely no resemblance to it in my experience. In fact, I own Ameer Al Oudh Intense by Lattafa, which is much closer to BTP; I’ve compared them directly, and Unexplored Noir has nothing to do with that. What predominates in Unexplored Noir is iris with cashmere—a velvety, sweet touch. I also own Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privé, and yes, it is very similar, though the Reserve leans more towards iris with cocoa, whereas this Unexplored features that velvety iris. In my opinion, it’s a fantastic fragrance if you enjoy the style of Givenchy’s Gentleman EDP and Reserve Privé. It easily lasts 6-7 hours, then fades to skin scent for another hour or two.

  • A fairly sweet fragrance that should appeal to everyone. It shares a certain resemblance to ‘The Fireplace’ but is by no means a clone; it’s more floral and soft. The longevity is average, around 6 hours. Honestly, at £12 on sale, it’s a great value.

I share the review by polperfumeman. The opening is very coarse and poorly executed. Fortunately, it doesn’t last long… I will be brief, describing what my brain perceives when smelling it. It is a mix of Le Male Elixir and Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privé. I picked it up for £13. Totally recommended for autumn, winter, and late-night dates. 😉

  • I’ve been wearing this for about three or four weeks now, and bear in mind, it has nothing to do with the By the Fireplace from Margiela that often pops up on lists. To me, Unexplored Noir feels much closer to the Ameer al Oudh Intense from Lattafa, as I tested them together and they are very similar. Here, it’s that iris blended with cashmere that rules, giving it a velvety, sweet texture. If you have the Gentleman Reserve Privée from Givenchy, you’ll probably recognise it, but here the iris is more velvety and less cocoa-like than in the Givenchy version. For me, it’s a real winner if you enjoy that Givenchy style. The longevity is brilliant, lasting around six or seven hours, then lingering on the skin for another hour or two.

Difficult opening, spectacular dry-down. I’ve had it for a week and tested it daily. Honestly, I’m not a fan of the opening; it’s hard to accept and smells very ‘stuffy’. The dry-down is another story entirely—an elegant, powdery trail dominated by sandalwood and caramel, reminiscent of Gentleman Reserve Privé. The sillage is moderate, projecting just over a metre for 1-2 hours. After that, it lasts around 8 hours on the skin. It sits between casual and elegant, perfect for projecting sophistication. Ideal for dinners, dates, family gatherings, or gala events. Not suitable for heat or the office.

I agree with polperfumeman: the opening is very aggressive and poorly executed, luckily it fades away very quickly. I’ll keep this brief as that’s what my brain tells me upon smelling it. It’s basically a mix of Le Male Elixir and Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privé. I picked it up for €13 and it’s totally recommended for autumn, winter, and those late-night dating outings 😉

Very strong opening with pink pepper, to the point of being repulsive and turning people away. When the intensity fades, caramel and patchouli take over, reminding me of the caramel in Raghba Wood Intense, which makes it feel ‘too strong’. All this, hoping the pepper has vanished. I give it a try and offer chances, but I still haven’t found its spot; it seems a bit ‘unpleasant’. I think I’m not cut out for such ‘intense’ notes; I prefer sweet, vanilla-based scents that are more ‘pleasant’ to the nose.

  • A delicious fragrance, though one that requires understanding (not for everyone). Nevertheless, it is a treat; it draws attention and feels sophisticated and elegant, with a niche vibe that is enchanting. For me, there is no comparison; it has its own heaven. Simply enchanting!

A real gem from Zara, one of the brand’s best. It doesn’t project much or leave a trail, but it lasts forever. Indispensable for large collections, but ideal for starting out on a tight budget. Rating: 6/10

  • It’s an excellent perfume and, for what it’s worth, a safe bet if you like Givenchy’s iris. It has brilliant performance and is highly recommended for the colder seasons. Very similar to the Gentleman EDP, it’s enchanting and generates plenty of compliments. Rating: 8.0/10.

  • Top-notch fragrance and great value; a safe bet if you love iris in Givenchy. Brutal performance and highly recommended for cold weather. Very similar to Gentleman EDP, enchanting and guaranteed compliments. Rating: 8/10
