With spring here, the days are getting longer and I feel like going out more; perfumeries are stocking soft, delicate fragrances with citrus, floral, and musky notes. They all have a daytime and late-afternoon character, perfect for work without being intrusive, or for having a drink on a terrace. This fragrance has that air. It’s kind, powdery, giving freshness and nobility to whoever wears it, something you enjoy wearing and having others wear. It has a Mediterranean temperament: citrus at the start, then a powdery hint of white flowers (jasmine) and well-integrated woods. It’s discreet but noticeable, luminous, with a daytime character and maturity. Since then, it uses natural essences that give it light. No shrill or artificial notes. For the price, you can’t ask for more. It’s feminine, subtle, Mediterranean, and luminous. It won’t be iconic, but it’s good and gentle. I gifted it to a friend, a good saleswoman, and it suits her shop perfectly. It has kindness, good perception, and warmth. A good fragrance, ideal for spontaneous women who want to radiate cordiality.
I tried a sample today and, for now, I’ll keep my 50ml bottle of the original Sicily with great affection. This version has no soul, no power, and it’s not the one I know.
According to Ziggy, I tried this reissue of the legendary Sicily I had been searching for in vain. On my skin, it opens creamy and pleasant, like washing your hands with Dove soap and whipped cream. The floral note is barely noticeable, just a clean jasmine in the first few hours alongside that soapy base. As it dries, it becomes more woody and powdery, highlighting that D&G sandalwood version which doesn’t suit me. The longevity and projection are moderate. It’s a pretty, feminine, and refined perfume, ideal for any season or occasion (except very informal ones), but it doesn’t convey the voluptuousness of the original. It has left me cold both in scent and performance. It looks good, but it doesn’t suit me; at this price, I expected more. Pleasant: 6/10 Interesting: 6/10 Versatile: 8/10 Original: 0/10 (literally, the graceless twin of the original Sicily)
