Stéphane Humbert Lucas is a Parisian perfumer, painter and poet who discovered his passion for art and perfumery at an early age. He studied painting in the south of France under the tutelage of a Flemish master, specialising in the technique of tempera, where he developed a fascination for the combination of pigments and their textures. During this time, he became aware of his synaesthesia, a perceptual phenomenon in which stimulation of one sense, such as sight, simultaneously activates another sense, such as smell. Building on his synaesthetic abilities, Stéphane Humbert Lucas began to create unique scents by mixing colours and mastering new and captivating fragrances in the process. He founded his eponymous perfume brand, Stéphane Humbert Lucas Paris, as a platform to express his artistic sensitivity and boundless creativity, without marketing restrictions. Stéphane Humbert Lucas has launched two distinctive collections under his brand: La Collection 777 and La Collection Serpent. La Collection 777, inspired by his travels to the Middle East, shows his love for the East, while La Collection Serpent explores the symbolism and legends surrounding the snake. Stéphane Humbert Lucas’s approach to perfume creation is deeply rooted in his synaesthetic abilities and his artistic inspirations from painting, literature and music. He believes that each material and accord in a fragrance vibrates with colours and that, sometimes, these colours emit a sound. The Collection 777 in particular highlights his spiritual and philosophical approach, where the number seven symbolises perfection, happiness and wisdom. By contrast, the Serpent collection embarks on an introspective journey through the symbolism of the snake and the stories and legends surrounding it.
