I walked in expecting a typical citrus and floral cologne, perhaps generic, but instead found something far more interesting. It’s floral with white flowers, musk, and a touch of incense. The first impression was vaporous, as if a beautiful woman in a white dress had just walked past. Then it evolves, gains body, and becomes soapy, even with a waxy feel, yet remains light and pleasant, fitting the cologne concept well. Although there’s a slight plum note, the citrus is barely noticeable. While marketed as a men’s fragrance, it’s truly unisex and suits both sexes. It’s a beautiful daytime scent, not opulent but with great depth and consistency.
I bought a sample, and to be honest, it was a right fiasco at first sniff. It seemed like a very strong scent, almost ‘old man’, and I wouldn’t recommend it for younger people as I found it jarring. I didn’t even dare apply it to my skin. Apologies if others enjoy it, but for me, it was a poor purchase.
Starts with a zesty citrus and patchouli burst that wakes the senses, like a fresh lemon being pressed to your lips, yet softened by a creamy sweetness. It evolves into something super clean and soapy, with body and an intense floral trail for the first couple of hours. No single flower stands out; instead, it’s that Ylang-Ylang amidst the soap suds, paired with fresh vetiver (not dark) and the ever-present patchouli. The incense is soft, clean, and savoury, nothing churchy. The musk adds an animalic touch that anchors it to the skin for about six hours. In short, Silver is vibrant, luminous, and suitable for any occasion; the only downside is its short longevity, typical of Amouage, meaning you’ll need to reapply the diffuser after five or six hours to keep enjoying it.
