Share what you noticed: opening, drydown, sillage and the moments when it works for you.
A dark, sticky scent that doesn’t quite convince me. The opening is overly smoky with a bitter liquor note that doesn’t grab hold. The dry-down is more bearable, but it disappears almost as soon as it hits the skin and projects very little. The fact that it doesn’t last long doesn’t bother me because it doesn’t win me over; it was interesting to try, and that’s all there is to it.
Burning Ben evokes a pool hall for me: smoke, confinement, bitter coffee, and burning wood. Sometimes sweet, other times resinous or outright smoky, it’s a chimera of great character. It reminds me of Beaufort London, with that artistic and beastly tint, but here it’s more enjoyable and subtly masculine. I agree with Lioncourt: it’s aged, masculine, and retro. I believe the performance is good and suits cold climates, though that’s just my experience. Personally, I can’t see myself wearing it, but if it’s mysterious and worn by a man with personality and a bit of age, it would suit him perfectly. Rating: 7.5/10
An interesting fragrance where the smoky, tobacco, and perhaps coffee notes stand out against a background of spiced leather. I associate it with charismatic men in 20th-century bars. It’s dark, yet warm. Although described this way it doesn’t seem original, I can’t find similar scents and it has personality. In my case, it isn’t potent in the trail or projection. The longevity on skin is short; for a quality niche, performance isn’t its strong point.
