This was my favourite Thameen until I tried Carved Oud. There are several I like, but they come across as very feminine; this one, however, I see as more unisex. It’s intense and has great depth from the first spray, very complex. If I don’t focus on the notes, it’s hard to tell what I smell, and I love that: floral, green, earthy and oriental. I don’t smell leather or oud like many do; cypriol on my skin always smells green/earthy. Don’t be alarmed by the rose in the notes; it doesn’t smell of obvious roses, but floral without being rose-like. Thameen has an obsession with roses in almost everything, but here it’s not noticeable, which is why I see it as more suitable for men. The spicy oriental touch comes from pepper and saffron, the floral base is evident, and the drydown is woody and green thanks to the cypriol. It’s a simple aroma in construction but complex in execution, a real gem as its name suggests.

What a cool perfume. It’s a spicy floral with Turkish rose, carnation and cypriol, hinting at something sweet in the base. The opening is very potent and stays that way for about ten minutes. As it settles, the saffron with pepper and a touch of rose emerge, giving way to a base of sweet, spicy leather with green nuances. I love it, especially how it’s intense yet light—not as heavy as Electimuss Vixere nor as sweet as Memo Italian Leather, but taking the best of both. It looks playful and versatile for all year round except in heat. Ideal for casual or semi-formal wear; I think from the age of 28 you can already wear it with pride. On my skin it lasts between 8 and 9 hours. Scent: 9/10 Trail: 9/10 Projection: 8.5/10 Longevity: 8.5/10
