Tonic Blanc by Thomas Kosmala

It’s a perfume you really need to try before buying. Smells like a man in his thirties, clean and neat, perfect for everyday wear. I use it for uni in the heat and it works brilliantly. It’s a classic citrus, white flower, and woody cologne; on my skin it lasts over eight hours and projects well. A great purchase, but I recommend decants as it might seem a bit mature to some.

If you live in Mexico, you’ll recognise this perfume almost identical to the classic Sanborns cologne. The difference lies in the greater longevity and the enveloping trail of Tonic Blanc. It’s a versatile and timeless fragrance, one of those that always fits: comforting in the cold and refreshing in the heat. It doesn’t seek to be original or risky, but rather to revive something already tried and appreciated. For those aged 35 and above, it will surely evoke childhood memories linked to relatives who, at some point, wore it naturally.

Smells citrusy and lasts, but it’s an absolutely brutal alcohol hit. I bought it blindly at a good price, what a waste… Now I use it as hand sanitiser and to light the fire, for that it’s gold.

I bought a decant and didn’t hesitate to order the full bottle; it’s a very wearable scent.

I bought a sample from ‘luckyscent’ and was very surprised. It smells like an Italian barbershop, with an impactful opening like vigorously rubbing fresh lemon leaves, giving a sensation of being in a green garden. Very citrusy. On blotter paper it holds strong for two days; on clothes, it’s still present by the third day. On skin it’s excellent, but I recommend trying it before purchasing.

Upon spraying, it awakens a charming aura: round white flowers and citrus, without any sting. It smells super natural and relaxing; the interplay between floral, citrus, and woody notes makes me run my nose over the application zone to see how it evolves. Although it’s quite linear, the shift in note dominance doesn’t overpower the base. It has a vintage touch that gives it personality. I’m testing it on one arm alongside ADP’s Bergamotto Di Calabria… ADP is simpler and more modern, a bergamot or rich lime scent that reminds me of a lemon pie due to its roundness. Returning to Tonic Blanc, I note it’s more sophisticated, full of subtle nuances that make it seem crafted, but it conjures an image of an old rich lady strolling through the city centre in an expensive coat with her hair set, surrounded by posh friends… very me. I think in spring, in a park with gardens, it would be brilliant. It’s currently November in northern Spain, I’m still testing and will edit later.
