I waited a long time because it is not sold in Argentina; I bought the entire collection in the Discovery Set. I had too many expectations. It did not surprise me; it reminds me of the old Hot Couture by Givenchy with certain modifications, but it did not seem original, and the price-quality ratio… luckily I bought the Discovery Set and did not invest $310 in a blind mini bottle.

  • It smells of burnt sugar with almonds, dry yet sweet and creamy. Suitable for day or night, in fresh weather, as it is strong. It is very gourmand; I feel like eating it, like candied almonds; it has a dark, mysterious, sexy, and warm touch. It does not feel cloying to me; very good. Update: over time, I liked it less, becoming drier and less captivating, until I sold it. I keep a decant; one day I mixed a few drops of Baccarat Rouge Extrait with Adolfo Dominguez Fresh Rose Water and WOW, what a beautiful, super sexy scent. The combination is highly recommended.

I bought samples on the MFK website and was greatly disappointed. The notes fade and dry down to simple blanched almond. That is all; the jasmine peeks out shamefully and is almost undetectable. Zero trail, zero longevity; I have to smell it very strongly to appreciate it, and it does not give me a headache. I am glad I bought samples; I will finish them, but I hope the others are more pleasing. I was about to buy it blindly, but no, given the price, it is good I waited. They arrived quickly, half a day after ordering.

  • It is an injustice to live in the tropics where this fragrance is not appreciated, a sort of Crème Brûlée in a bottle. That smell of burnt caramel with almond and vanilla is interesting, but be warned: it is not for every occasion or skin type. If you do not like totally sweet perfumes, this is not for you.

I’ve been thinking how to describe it… I had tried several dupes of BCR540 EDP and Extrait, all trying to replicate candied ripe fruit or burnt sugar, with different metallic or medicinal durations and notes. However, you must try this iconic work. It is a true pleasure, superior to everything I have tried: sweeter, more concentrated, deeper, almost thick, like a nectar. The trail and longevity are impressive; it lasts all day and has that enveloping quality where you think the intensity has dropped, and then suddenly it reappears. My husband and I have a small bottle for both; it is unisex and we enjoy it immensely.

  • Sweetalmond

It has me completely smitten. I was looking for almond notes and the CH Good Girl left me breathless. I became interested in Baccarat Rouge and tried the Eau de Parfum, but it was a disappointment: I could smell nothing, looking utterly disillusioned. Then I saw the Extrait, ordered a sample, and was left breathless. A masterpiece; at first it smells like cotton candy, then saffron and almond. The scent lasted days on my jacket; it is a beast. A girl on the tube left the whole carriage smelling it. With two sprays, it creates a delicious, sweet atmosphere. It is feminine, expensive, but worth it for special occasions.

  • It smells wonderful, especially in the evening; it leaves a scent that is pure delight. At first, there is a slight medicinal note, but in the Extrait, it fades quickly. What a pity it is so soft on my skin; I notice it, but those who come close detect nothing. It lasts days on clothes. It is marvellous to wear a scarf that smells like this; a lovely sensation.

  • It is the perfect example of how a niche perfume becomes the most vulgar fragrance. Don’t deceive yourself: when buying an expensive niche scent, you seek exclusivity, differentiation, and feeling above the rest. We are vain, but we value distinct, evocative, and artistic aromas, far from the commercial. The problem is this scent has been copied by celebrities, clothing stores, supermarkets, and imitation houses. It has been so banalised that it is now common. The work of discrediting it through so many replicas has made it vulgar, even if the quality is superior.

  • I’m not convinced by the idea of Calvofe. There are fakes everywhere: handbags, clothes, perfumes… anyone buying this knows no clone is identical, and you should feel at ease wearing the original. I’m not vain for liking perfumes; it’s part of my personality. I don’t need to show off that I’m wearing a €300 scent; I don’t care what people say. I’ve heard Baccarat clones on the street and distinguished them; if someone can’t tell the difference, they know little about perfumes. At first, I hated it and didn’t understand the hype. The second time, I adored it; it was a scent outside my usual style, far more discreet. Since trying it, I’ve opened up to other notes. Today I own both the Eau de Parfum and the Extrait, and I confirm: there is no identical clone.

This is undoubtedly my favourite perfume in life, alongside its EDP sibling. Unfortunately, everything they say about it being somewhat common is true. What a pity because I still haven’t been able to buy it, and they’ve already socially killed it. This won’t stop me from obtaining it one day because it’s a dream. And I know it is for a high percentage of fragrance enthusiasts because I doubt anyone has the money to just buy it for the sake of it. At the same time, I appreciate every brand that has copied it; I’m not lying when I say I’ve had at least 6-7 dupes because the price is ridiculous. The worst part is that the best dupe has been discontinued 🙁 Nevertheless, I’ve learned that NO dupe will give you the product 100%. So, if you’re going to spend the money, use it, have the beautiful bottle in your collection, and the satisfaction of knowing you own this work of art… go for it! Finally, use what you like!! Who cares if everyone wears it. Obviously, if I’m going to pay the ridiculous price, I’d want a bit more exclusivity, but that’s no longer the case and never will be. Especially now… since they were already complaining it was a popular scent, it will be MUCH MORE POPULAR now that Tini revealed she uses it. Everyone will be looking for dupes, and it will be an even more popular fragrance. Just say ‘uta la weaa’ and carry on! ajajsaj

Something very strange happened to me: I bought it online from Tiana in the USA. The first time I wore it, I hated it, then I loved it so much… so much. I travelled to the Emirates, decided to try everything, and bought the full-size version because it wasn’t available in Argentina. However, I discovered that for Arab countries, the version is stronger, smells more medicinal, and has nothing to do with the American one. Speaking to the sales staff, they received the exact same comments I did—that it wasn’t the perfume… I concluded from the reviews that there are at least two versions of the same perfume depending on the country. I couldn’t buy it no matter how hard I tried to like it; it just wasn’t the same. So, I recommend checking where the perfume comes from; it’s not the same everywhere. I know this because I bought it in an official designer store in the USA, and it wasn’t the same as the one in the Emirates. Nothing to do with each other.

  • I loved it. It lasts quite a while and has a strong sillage; whenever I wear it, people think it’s cotton candy. It’s a comforting scent; I wouldn’t categorise it as elegant or complex.

  • Kashmir88

I bought a sample; the opening smells exactly like Burberry Her and Zara’s Red Temptation. After 15 minutes, it changed considerably, and all I could detect was a hospital, dentist, or tarmac scent—a dry, bitter aroma in a closed space like a warehouse. I never get the cotton candy everyone talks about; instead, I sense a distinct, special fragrance that persists, which is why it became famous. Being unique and desired by everyone, yet now almost everyone smells like it due to the sheer number of clones (which imitate it very well in my opinion)… I don’t see it as exclusive anymore and would opt for something more affordable. Still, I must give it a second chance, wear it all night, and finish rating it. For now, it doesn’t convince me; I’m more of a floral and gourmand person.

  • Aromadicciones

I love it so much! ☯️ I think it’s the yin and yang of perfumes, a perfect balance between sweet and woody notes. It lasts over 10 hours on my skin. Now Cloud Pink smells very much like my beloved Baccarito.

  • This perfume is hard to describe; I’ve tried it on several skin types and every opinion is different… some say it’s cloying, others say they don’t notice it until a gust of air passes.

  • AlexAlvarez

I have the decant but I can’t smell it 🥲; it smells like nothing, just a plasticky scent like a new doll, I think it’s the famous ‘doctor smell’. On the English Fragrantica forums there are many posts saying people can’t smell it or only smell ‘a part’. I thought the perfume was faulty, but it was my sense of smell 💀. Apparently, it’s due to the formula’s molecules, with a higher molecular weight, causing an olfactory blockage, and I’m one of the many who can’t perceive them 🥲. I’ll never know what it smells like, but I’ve ordered the Zara dupe, it’s something. The good thing is it’s already taken away my anxiety of having it; there’s no point paying so much money for a perfume I can’t smell 🥲.

With almost compulsive urges to try this extrait, which everyone speaks highly of, I managed to get a decant through an unexpected swap. Perhaps I don’t have the nose to appreciate this elitist, reserved fragrance intended for a small circle of ‘qualified’ people like trendy YouTubers, but what I’m saying is that entering the niche is becoming prohibitively expensive and the result isn’t always worth it. I’m a bit fed up with smelling perfumes that don’t excite me, of being disappointed by acclaimed masterpieces that say nothing to me, at best they’re pleasant. Unlike others, I notice it clearly at the start: it smells of bitter almond rounding off the soft florals. It must be noted: it’s an extrait too subtle for something so sweet with those notes. It lacks originality and that extra something that would make it unique. The evolution isn’t surprising, although the almonds and saffron give way to a very discreet, sweet, amber-woody base. It proves you don’t need to spend so much to find magic. If you’re thinking of buying the full bottle, better try a decant first.

  • I tried it in a decant and what a relief; it smells almost identical to the Burberry Her Intense I already own (same creator). The opening is the same or very similar, but once it dries down, this BR version feels more metallic and clean, as everyone says. By the way, I’ve worn it several times now and it keeps feeling more distinct from the other. It lasts a long time, about 24 hours on clothes, and since it smells like one of the best I’ve tried, it’s now in my top 5.

  • LosPerfumesDeJavi

I decided to buy the sample pack on the Maison Francis Kurkdjian website to try the EXTRAIT version. In my opinion, it’s almost identical to the eau de parfum, it just lasts infinitely longer. Anecdote: I was in the dentist’s waiting room after applying the perfume (which I felt was weak), and a lady walked in, pinched her nose, and upon leaving commented that she thought someone was wearing a super strong perfume. Is this one of those perfumes where people around you perceive it more than you do? I wouldn’t want to think so, but that’s how it is. The next day, after showering, I still felt the perfume in my hand as if freshly applied. That night I smelled it in the room or on my clothes; I don’t understand why, yet it didn’t feel as potent. Over time, I bought the full bottle and got bored because it became massified and I could smell it at the gym, Zara clones, etc. It stopped being unique and impressive to me.

  • It had so much hype, unfortunately, I don’t perceive the magic everyone talks about. I’m part of the population that smells antiseptic, dentist cleaner, even asphalt, latex, and stagnant water from cemetery plant pots. The opening smells similar to Cloud but more mature; I like Cloud, not this. The evolution I don’t like at all. The longevity is incredible, but the heavy trail gave me nausea, so I showered immediately and still smelled it right up against my skin. It doesn’t smell like caramel or cotton candy, just burnt resin and what I described. It’s a cheap smell for an elevated price. An anecdote: weeks after trying it, I didn’t want to know anything about Cloud or similar perfumes; it left a bad taste in my mouth. Shortly after, on the metro, I was squeezed next to a lady soaked in this perfume; I don’t know how I endured that moment feeling sick. When I got out, the perfume remained on my clothes. I had to shower again to not perceive so much BR540. After this, I detest it even more.

  • To me, it smells like chaotic destruction from which the Phoenix later emerges. After buying the original, I must say there is no 100% similar dupe; they reach about 60 or 70%. They only resemble each other in the wood and burnt caramel. The opening is ‘toothpaste’, which is confusing but attractive. In the base, that black caramel appears like the night, with wet resinous wood. There’s a strange citrus note, I calculate it’s the saffron, and a metallic hint, like the taste of blood. One spray lasted me the whole day. The dupes are super feminine; the original is unisex, and I’d love to smell it on a man.

  • An exceptional perfume, but not for everyone. The Baccarat Rouge 540 extrait is eternal on skin and clothes. It reminds me of my grandmother’s Youth Dew, which lasted for days. Regardless, it’s a delight. I wish it were more intimate for regular use, but it’s scandalous and impossible to ignore. You can feel the combination of almonds and amber. The big difference is that the parfum is sweeter to my taste; the other feels drier with a slight liquorish air. It lasts two days on skin and weeks on clothes. Two or three sprays are enough; more gives me a headache, but it smells rich and elegant. Ideal for formal events or activities where you want to be noticed, but not in very enclosed spaces. Only Cloud by Ariana Grande resembles it, though that has more coconut and whipped cream. Burberry Her is another world. It’s sad to read that many find it resinous, but claiming it smells like toothpaste is another matter. It doesn’t suit everyone and not everyone likes it. My only complaint is that it became massified with clones, and smelling them in hot weather was terrible; this perfume should be worn in cold weather. But since the bottle is eternal, it’s going out of style, and I enjoy it much these cold days.

  • This perfume has been the only one to make someone I haven’t touched smell of it just by sharing space at work. If you’re looking for that effect, go ahead. It has a strong opening and sillage; it’s a bomb. I like it a lot. I had the Baccarat first, then bought the extrait. It’s not something to wear to work every day as the staff would be suffocated. Better suited for open spaces where you can breathe.

  • This perfume is a work of art. I thought that given its composition, it wouldn’t be suitable for warm climates like Chile with temperatures of 32 degrees, but I wore it enthusiastically and, to my surprise, it didn’t overwhelm anyone. It smells of almonds bathed in caramel with a woody citrus base. It’s not for daily use, but rather for special occasions. I received it as a gift in 5ml when I bought my classic Baccarat Rouge 540, and I’m going for the 70ml version. It lasts forever, over 10 hours, with moderate to high projection. I love it, and although there are dupes, none come close.

  • Juanky1111

One of my favourite perfumes. I’ve used originals and dupes from many brands, and the truth is, none resemble it or have the same longevity as the original.

  • Definitely, this perfume is designed to turn heads; it is extremely strong. It smells good, yes, but I wouldn’t wear it in the office or enclosed spaces as it would suffocate everyone. I detect a lot of citrus and caramel.

  • Isaesparza

I went with the hype and bought it blind, and it was a mistake 😣. At first, it smelled vaguely like Mancera’s Velvet Vanilla (which I don’t love), then it literally smelled like the toothpaste I use. I get the ‘dentist’ association. While there is a sweet almond note, woods, and saffron in the base, that toothpaste smell never fades. I don’t find it as scandalous as others claim; on my skin, it’s soft to moderate. There are almond scents a thousand times better. I’ll use it because of the price, but I wouldn’t buy it again or try the BR540. If you’re thinking of buying it, DO NOT DO IT BLIND. It smells different to Cloud or BB Her. Edit: it fixes differently on everyone. I gifted some to my sister and it smells delicious on her; it depends hugely on your pH.

  • I wore this to a formal family event; my dad put on Afnan at 9pm and I wore the Bad Boy EDT. My aunt only sprayed it twice, yet it evaporated completely on both of us. It’s a sweet, citrusy scent with immense power. Honestly, I don’t see it as unisex; it feels very feminine. Personally, I’m not a fan of that sweetness—it’s overwhelmingly strong and tiring for those not used to intense fragrances. It bears a strong resemblance to Zara’s For Him Red Edition if you’re looking for something more affordable.

  • As for longevity, it is a true beast! I am impressed by how much it lasts on the skin. I perceive it very differently, definitely unique. It has a spicy opening with clove that transforms into a delicious blend of pepper and caramel. It is sweet and feminine, although some might see it as unisex; for me, it is not. It stands out for its singularity and presence.

  • It is the perfume of a lifetime, honestly. I discovered it two years ago and wanted to try it out of curiosity. Upon trying it, I was astounded. Everyone should own it, whether original or dupe. It is versatile: suitable for day or night, formal events or going out, work or study.

  • If I could choose one scent for my skin without perfume, it would be this. I would love to smell like this every second of my life. At first, I detect the beautiful almond note, then it becomes creamy, resinous, and sweet. The saffron in the Extrait version is delicate, nothing like the strong versions found in cheap clones. What a wonderful perfume. I have been in the perfume world for years, specifically in niche, and although I arrived late to this, I now adore it and say so proudly.

  • Woman in Love

Perfection. It reveals itself differently for each person. For me, it smells of almond and burnt sugar. Very beautiful, deeply seductive. After trying it once, it is difficult to give it up. It is long-lasting with a magnificent trail… a masterpiece.

  • I loved this fragrance from the day I encountered it in Paris at Les Galeries Lafayette. It elevated me to another level, offering an exquisite olfactory pleasure. There is no need to analyse or rationalise it; opinions vary and that breaks the magic. Simply, one must feel it and let oneself be carried away by what it inspires.

  • Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait: Kurkdjian delivers bottled luxury and elegance. The intense red bottle with its gold plaque is a work of art. It smells sweet, like cherry with a potent saffron note. As it dries, it becomes a delightful floral, amber, and woody scent, reminiscent of burnt cotton candy with jasmine. It lasts over 10 hours on the skin. It is an aroma that goes from hate to love, yet possesses incredible charm. Only the price seems excessive to me. I would definitely buy it again; it is fascinating and very unisex. Ideal for formal occasions, weddings, or luxurious dates. Worth it if you like it. Rating: 9.5/10. The downsides: the price and the fact that not everyone will like it.

  • Grey50shades

The scent captivates you, lingers on the skin, and leaves a rich, sweet trail without being cloying. Since I first heard it, I have been utterly enchanted. Yes, it comes at a high cost, but it is absolutely worth it.

  • AdrianitaVera

Smells like pure luxury, an indescribable yet unparalleled scent. It makes you feel powerful the moment you apply it, projects beautifully, and lasts over 12 hours on the skin.
