Descripción

Le Male In The Navy by Jean Paul Gaultier is an oriental fougère fragrance for men. Launched in 2018, this composition was created by Quentin Bisch and Natalie Gracia-Cetto. The top notes reveal mint and aquatic accords; the heart unfolds marine aromas; and the base notes complete the olfactory pyramid with vanilla and ambergris.

  • Le Male has more brothers than Enrique Iglesias. This would be Julio Iglesias Jr.; it takes something good from its father, like the vanilla, and turns it into a boring, commercial aquatic scent in the Invictus style. Furthermore, it has a delay, as it’s not easily found in shops. Enough already with flankers and launching a new line ‘Le transexualite’ or ‘Le asexualite’; innovate a bit. If necessary, I’ll petition via change.org for signatures.

  • It has a very pleasant scent where its aquatic, sweet, and masculine, youthful notes are very apparent. Perhaps what I dislike most is its poor longevity.

  • It has a fairly good opening that differs from the classic version, though it maintains its DNA. A few minutes later, that fresh mint calms down to become a sweeter menthol scent. It smells like pleasant, youthful mint gum with a certain clean touch. After two hours, it starts to cling more to the skin, but the scent remains the same, just less fresh, with vanilla gaining presence. Quite linear up to this point. After three hours, I perceive much more vanilla. Synthetic but pleasant scent; the mint is less noticeable. Sillage and projection diminish considerably. Lasts about 4 hours; projection and sillage are heavy at the start, moderate afterwards, and fade towards the end. Youthful, fresh, and warm due to the mint and vanilla; welcoming due to its clean tone, though too generic. Not very suitable for those over 30 with a formal image or for offices. Suitable for young people on outdoor evening walks, with friends, in informal settings. Not for night or cold weather. Scent: 7.5, Performance: 4, Versatility: 6, Total: 6.5.

  • I never thought a Gaultier would disappoint me so much, but without realising it, it had already happened when Puig bought Jean Paul; I knew it would become as generic, mediocre, and cheap as Paco Rabanne or Ch. The point is, I tested it: a scent I’ve heard in other perfumes, an ordinary and cheap perfume smell I’d already smelled, even many line-up ones sell for high prices and smell like this; it’s the scent of Invictus Aqua, I didn’t like it a bit. Within 5 minutes, it was skin-scent only, and by half an hour, 90% had vanished. It’s a rip-off for what it is, and even though the Male smells so good despite being thoroughly reformulated. I don’t recommend it; Jean Nate still tastes richer and lasts an hour on the skin compared to this thing. It’s a mix of an ordinary Invictus and a Le Beau Male clone by Estela: very, very poor. Performance of 3, ordinary quality like Zara.

After testing it, it’s a scent I’ve heard before in other perfumes: a cheap, ordinary perfume smell. Even many line-up fragrances sell for high prices and smell exactly like this; it smells like Invictus Aqua, and I didn’t like it a bit. Things are going badly at home! We don’t know where this is heading. To start with, what an ‘ordinary’ scent that adds nothing and doesn’t even inspire you to wear it. For me, it’s a creamy version of Eros with low quality, zero projection and no lasting power; it’s a complete dud.

Things in the house are going badly, we don’t know where this is going to end up. To start with, what an ‘ordinary’ smell; it adds nothing nor even inspires use. For me, it’s a creamy version of Eros with low quality, zero projection and longevity; it’s a rip-off.

  • Sometimes a good deal leads to buying blindly… That happened to me, and I fell for the pretty tin jar and the brighter-coloured man, supposedly more virile. I found a pleasant, easy-to-wear juice, unlike the original Male, so it’s less potent. Here the vanilla is soft, blended with aquatic notes. The mint is very intense at first, spicy and fresh. The amber feels right and gives a sweet, fresh, orangey blend that lasts a good while and projects moderately. It certainly has its ups and downs between Eros, Invictus and Gucci Black, but the ambergris sets it apart. I think it’s worth it, especially if on offer. It’s not a work of art, but it has its merits… It’s youthful, versatile, for day or night at informal parties, and you can wear it liberally. Approved.

  • It’s pleasant and wearable, softer and fresher, but less potent and aniseed than the original. The downside is that, in theory, it’s the same cake with a different jam on top. So, better to try before you buy; if you’re looking for something original, this isn’t for you. Originality: 5/10, Projection: 7/10, Price: 4/10.

  • Sometimes a good offer leads to blind buying, and here I fell for that tin can and the colourful little man, intended to be more virile. The juice is pleasant and easy to use, less potent than the original Male. The vanilla is soft, blended by aquatic notes; the mint is intense and spicy at the start, and the amber gives a sweet, fresh, and orangey ensemble that lasts and projects moderately. It has points and crosses between Eros, Invictus, and Gucci Black, but the grey amber distinguishes it. Worth it, especially on offer. It’s not a work of art, but it has pros: youthful, versatile for day or informal parties, and perfect for applying liberally. Approved.

  • The perfume isn’t bad and blends well, but its major drawback is that it’s the flanker of the flanker of the flanker; it smells like something you’ve likely heard before. Remember: fragrance enters through the eyes, and here it only wins on its beautiful presentation, making it ideal for collecting the bottle.

Eros Aquatic. As is customary with successful perfumes, companies exploit their popularity, and Le Male is no exception. In my opinion, they’re all the same with a slight tweak; I’m not a fan of JPG, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Le Male In The Navy came as an aquatic proposal for hot weather (which didn’t work, and later they made Le Beau), but upon smelling it, it still reminds me of Le Male, just a bit more modern. In conclusion, it felt like a marine Eros: you don’t need to dig deep, it smells good, but it’s just mint, vanilla, and marine notes. They could have saved this flanker, as it also has an annoying base that smells damp to me (Ambregris, I suppose). Performance isn’t great either; that’s why I found this launch mediocre, out of desperation to keep drinking from the Le Male bottle before it runs out. In heat, it can be overwhelming due to the vanilla, and in cold, it fades with the marine notes; I can’t find an occasion for use where there aren’t better options. Scent: 7/10. Longevity: 6/10. Trail: 4/10. Occasion: enclosed spaces in heat. God’s plan 🦉.

  • @juangse made a joke about transsexuality and the year 2022, JPG releases ‘equalité’… another flanker of Le Male, haha, what hdps.

  • To be honest, it doesn’t smell bad because it smells nice, but it’s not suitable for open spaces as it has a very poor trail; you only catch the scent if you press your nose right against the skin. The fragrance is fresh, marine-style, and pleasant, but if you want a girl to be fascinated by your smell, you’ll have to tell her to get close to your neck (where you can take advantage and devour her, haha). As for longevity, it’s average, and mostly lasts on clothes. Scent: 7.5. Longevity: 5. Trail: 3. Price: 5. Would I buy it again? No.

I had huge hype for this flanker because I read it was exclusive at Macy’s and thought ‘noooo, that’s unfair!’, but thank goodness I found it easily at any perfumerie. Le Male In The Navy smells almost like Pure XS by Paco Rabanne dry down, mixed with the original Le Male and the reformulation of Versace Eros. It’s not an original scent, but well, it’s a flanker; at least it doesn’t smell like the latest summer editions of Le Male: Popeye, Superman and André. This one is different. I won’t say it smells synthetic, which would be foolish, but it smells odd, not in a bad way, just because the pure notes aren’t noticeable. It smells like mint gum, which is fine, but the vanilla (Jean Paul Gaultier’s favourite) is barely noticeable and longevity on skin is very low. The bottle is beautiful but nothing original, it looks very much like Le Male Couple 2013, but feels different to the touch. But the tin… oh, the tin is an incredible work of art. I love it. I would have loved if they had printed the tin drawing on the chest of the bottle, at least it would be prettier.

Absolute worst of JPG: smells like very faint aquatic mint, nothing else. At first it reminded me of a Chinese version of Versace Eros, but it has nothing to do with it. They really let themselves down by making something so poor. It’s a failure and a rip-off for anyone who buys it. I didn’t expect it to be the best, but I did hope for a decent flanker for something casual. The exact opposite: total disappointment. I returned it the same day; it’s a scam. It doesn’t matter how many times you apply it; I tested it over ten times and it just smells like very strong dish soap, an absolute horror. Longevity and projection are ridiculous. Scent: 0. It’s terrible. Projection: you have to apply it about fifteen times and it lasts barely over an hour.

One of the worst from JPG; it smells of a slight aquatic mint, no other note is noticeable, and for seconds it will remind you of a Chinese version of Versace Eros, but it has nothing to do with it; the truth is they really let themselves go making something so bad. It’s a failure and a rip-off for anyone who buys this with capital letters. To start, I’ll say I didn’t expect it to be among the best from JPG, but at least a flanker worth having for something casual with at least decent longevity. But quite the opposite; much to my regret, and a disappointment. I returned it the same day; it’s a genuine scam. No matter how much you spray, it won’t last longer; I tried spraying myself more than ten times, and the only thing that smelled was very strong soapy water, a horror. Its longevity and projection are ridiculous. My rating of JPG In The Navy: Scent 0, it’s terrible. Projection: you have to spray yourself about 15 times and it lasts just over an hour. And its longevity, despite spraying a lot, doesn’t last much.
