Hard Candy is that fruity-gourmand scent that starts off tart with a hint of tea. Rhubarb and passionfruit dominate the opening, until the passionfruit fades to make way for the caramel-vanilla duo. The flowers emerge slightly during the dry-down, but very subtly, lurking behind the creamy caramel which is the star. It’s sweet without being cloying; the rhubarb’s acidity balances everything perfectly. It bears a strong resemblance to Al Rehab’s Soft, except here lime is swapped for rhubarb. It also recalls Pink Sugar in the dry-down, though Hard Candy is lighter and less strident. Longevity and sillage are moderate, and I think it works best in cooler climates, ideal for the summer-autumn transition with warm days and cool nights.
