Descripción

In Control Curious by Britney Spears is an oriental floral fragrance for women. Launched in 2006, this composition was created by perfumer Claude Dir. The olfactory pyramid opens with fruity top notes; the heart reveals a sweet blend of vanilla, tonka bean, and orchid; and the base settles on musk and sandalwood.

Very similar to Amber Romance by Victoria’s Secret. It’s sweet, vanilla and amber. Perfect for evening wear in autumn and winter. It’s very sweet, ageless, yet a little more mature than the original Fantasy Pink. If you enjoy sweet scents, it’s a good option.

  • Sweet, yet distinct from Fantasy. As a man, I find it addictive and can’t help but want to stay close to smell it. The vanilla is very noticeable and lingers until the end, alongside the tonka bean and the sweetness. Ideal for winter, though it can be worn in summer, projecting better at night.

  • Definitely my favourite of Britney’s, even though I’m not a fan of the brand. It’s a flanker of the original Curious, yet they share not a shred of similarity. The original is fresh and synthetic; this one is sweet, creamy, balsamic and gourmand, like very ripe fruit with a hint of liquor and a crème brûlée accord. I adore mixing it with Dalal by Al-Rehab or Amber Romance by VS; they blend perfectly. The only downside is the atomiser: it doesn’t last long and the trail is weak, which is why I mix it.

  • This is my favourite Britney perfume, even though I’m not a fan of the brand. It’s a flanker of the original Curious, but they have nothing to do with each other. The original is fresh, floral and synthetic; this one is sweet, strong, creamy, balsamic and gourmand, like very ripe fruit with a hint of liquor and a crème brûlée accord. I love mixing it with Dalal by Al-Rehab or Amber Romance by VS; they blend perfectly. The only drawback is the atomiser: it doesn’t last long and the trail is weak, so I mix it.

I absolutely love this perfume, but a word of caution: it has nothing to do with the original Curious. While the first one is tender and suitable for daytime, this is sweeter, more personal, and daring—perfect for evening. It suits both occasions for me perfectly.

My mum uses this perfume, I gave it to her for her birthday. Despite her age, it lasts her a very long time, I agree with verynices: it has no age limit. The scent opens with a burst of fruit that disappears quickly, in 30 seconds, and then the main notes appear for hours: vanilla, gummies, and orchid. At the end it closes with a touch of musk. The longevity is moderate to heavy if overapplied. Very good perfume, congratulations to Claude Dir.

  • Well yes, you can buy blind, just like I did with Midnight Fantasy and I didn’t like it at all. I also want to buy the Hidden Fantasy; I already have the Fantasy the Nice Remix and I loved it very much, do you know if there’s anything similar? I love the JLO Live, does it resemble that one? My email is [email protected] so you can reply and tell me if it’s really better than all of them, as I’ve read.

  • I fell in love with this perfume, although in Mexico it’s hard to get and I only find it online. It’s extremely delicious and enchanting; it’s not cloying at all and the vanilla scent is fantastic. Without a doubt, the best I’ve bought.

  • A very sweet scent that smells delicious. Vanilla predominates and then a certain boozy note is noticeable. It’s great for night.

  • I love it! It’s not one of Britney’s most popular, but to me it seems excellent. It’s sweet and vanilla-like, like a flan, zero fruity for me, very creamy and delicate. For me, it’s a gourmand perfume for daily use because it’s soft. If you like gourmands but don’t want to overwhelm everyone, just please everyone with your sweet aroma like a little princess, this is your scent. I like it for daily use on cold days, it has good longevity although little projection; if someone hugs you, they’ll surely smell it, great for a date. I must say the old-fashioned perfume-style atomiser is terrible, although it’s pretty, I use it in an individual wallet perfume holder and the problem is solved. Go ahead and try it!

Curious In Control is the only true flanker in the line; Curious Heart is just the same perfume in a Valentine’s Day bottle. Despite being a ‘limited edition’, it’s been on the market for 10 years and seems intact. According to Basenotes, it features kumquat, orchid, crème brûlée, vanilla, tonka, sandalwood and musk. It’s a daring and wild gourmand, like a plutonium candy, yet more homely and traditional than Fantasy, which is explosive and synthetic. In Control is a simple, relaxed homemade dessert. It begins with alcoholic kumquat giving way to creamy, crisp crème brûlée, then vanilla, sandalwood and a touch of sugary musk. After several applications, an elegant floral facet of orchid emerges, similar to Tom Ford Black Orchid, with a deep powdery finish. The black bottle with the rose evokes sensuality and childish coquetry, not carnal desire. The trail is moderate and the longevity extensive, surpassing the original. I recommend the bottle with the classic sprayer, as the Australian ones leaked easily.

Curious In Control is the only true flanker of the Curious line. Although it launched as a limited edition, it’s been on the market for 10 years and the fragrance seems intact, although current bottles no longer come with the chain that says ‘In Control’. According to Basenotes, the notes are: Japanese kumquat, orchid, crème brûlée, vanilla, tonka crystals, sandalwood, and musk. In Control stands out among my favourites: being an enthusiast of bold gourmands, I enjoy harmonious and wild scents that evoke treats, but this one distances itself. It’s a more homey and conservative gourmand, a vanilla sweetness, minimally boozy, barely powdery and balsamic, like a simple, relaxing homemade dessert. It starts with the kumquat, fruity and very alcoholic, which evaporates quickly to leave the crème brûlée, creamy with a crunchy top at a cosy temperature. Then comes the vanilla with sandalwood and a touch of sugary musk. It’s surprising because after several applications, an elegant floral facet of orchid emerges, reminiscent of a minimalist edition of Tom Ford’s Black Orchid, with a tiny but deep powdery trail. The black bottle with pink looks like a diamond and suggests something bold and sensual, but ironically it’s not sensual; it embodies a childlike coquettishness, with innocent smiles and dreamy gazes, loaded with tenderness and abundance. The trail is medium and the longevity extensive, both superior to the original. Finally, the bottles with the classic spray are exclusive editions from Australia, but they reached America and Europe; I recommend the bottle with the conventional spray because the first ones were inefficient and would leak.

I’m a fan of the Britney Spears line, but I must confess that this perfume doesn’t quite convince me. I love sweet scents for winter and this was a blind buy. Although it contains all the ingredients I love, it doesn’t smell good on my skin. I admit it has very good longevity; a few applications are enough to last a long time. I’ll give it a second chance this winter season.

  • Natalylopez

I love this version of Curious. It smells of vanilla cream, slightly powdery and subtly sweet, with a hint of strawberry. The bottle is a gem, in black and pink. After using it for a long time, I have to say that the scent has excellent longevity; on my skin it lasts almost half the day and on clothes until I wash them. Delicious.

I can’t decide whether to keep this perfume… I bought it blind without a tester and almost took the Rihanna Rebelle that I loved, but I followed my intuition. I adore vanilla, crème brûlée, and the notes, but it just doesn’t quite convince me. The opening is very alcoholic with fruity notes like mango or peach, then the vanilla and tonka bean kick in; it smells boozy, creamy, and subtle, like that boozy Argentine dessert. I like the dry-down and the final phase, but the opening is horrible. It’s sexy, warm, and charming, sweet but with that boozy touch that makes it distinct. It lasts a long time, with heavy projection for the first five hours and then skin scent for another five. I see it as versatile for autumn/winter, day or night, more elegant than Fantasy. In spring, only for night due to its warmth, and in summer I wouldn’t wear it as it’s too overpowering. The bottle is ugly in person, black with a pink cap and difficult to hold, but the box is beautiful and very feminine. I’m going to try it in different instances to find what everyone says. I give it a 7.5 or 8 out of 10 and might edit later.

  • Curious In Control. It is a very nice and usable gourmand for women who are not teenagers. I am new to the gourmand world and the truth is that this little bottle has me enchanted. According to my perception, it is extremely similar to Bon Bon by Viktor & Rolf, of course less intense, but the value compensates for it, as you have to reapply during the day anyway. Of all Britney perfumes, this is the only one I have liked. I hope to try more soon.

This fragrance has become one of my favourites; it’s very rich. At first, the opening is quite alcoholic, but only for a moment; then the sweet notes arrive, and the dry-down is what I like most: a subtle, warm vanilla. Although I’d recommend it for night outings, it has worked quite well for daytime too—it’s not overwhelming, rather quite soft. Unlike the Fantasies, I feel this perfume is more mature, without losing the coquettishness that characterises Britney fragrances. On the other hand, if it’s very similar to Bonbon by Viktor&Rolf, as others have said; in fact, when I first smelled Bonbon, a friend was wearing it and it immediately reminded me of some Britney fragrance. I asked her and she said it was by V&R; afterwards I discovered Curious In Control and realised I wasn’t entirely lost—they are quite similar, which I think is very good considering the price of this one.

  • The top of this perfume is very strong alcohol, and once it dries, a delicate sweet scent emerges, something very feminine. If you are going to buy it, you must test it first, as the initial scent of the perfume is quite unpleasant. Regarding longevity, it is moderate on the skin and the trail is very scarce.

But look who I have here: In Control from Curious. This is one of my perfumes that never runs out; well, there have been seasons when I did without it to acquire others and try other jewels, but no more than 2 years without using it. It came out as a limited edition that apparently became permanent, although its purchase in Spain has to be online; you won’t find it in perfumeries… it already cost a fortune in 2010, imagine 10 years later. The first time I was gifted this perfume was in 2010, on my 18th birthday; it was the old format and came with the atomiser shown on this page in pink, a treat but uncomfortable to the point of being unbearable as they broke easily and weren’t very useful, believe me, I ended up pouring the perfume directly from the bottle. This perfume, unlike other Britney Spears scents, has not been reformulated, or at least that’s how I perceive it. The top is citrus, red fruits, and a slight tropical touch, I would say, but it evaporates in 10 minutes to make way for tonka bean and vanilla. The trail isn’t very potent; only those very close to you will perceive it; longevity on skin is about 4-7 hours, depending on the season; I perceive it more in winter, as it lingers longer and intensifies more. A perfume for the day; to its nocturnal appearance, I wouldn’t wear it to a dinner, however, yes for a morning outing on a Sunday or a meal on a Saturday, but not for a night out, as its trail and longevity aren’t very potent. This perfume would be a marvel if they enhanced these flaws to my liking; the scent is truly a marvel if you like sweets; it’s not a glutton. Forget about trying to find an old bottle with the atomiser as they changed it a few months after release, a joy as it is much more comfortable. A jewel of our Brit, not very massified; I wear it for work in winter as it is subtle, vanilla-like, and talcum-powdery, which is a scent that makes you feel warm in cold seasons.

  • I bought a 10 ml decant and I feel it smells almost nothing; it smells sweet, very soft, like something not worth buying.

  • I like this perfume, but not immediately; at first I didn’t like it, I found it too strange because I was used to the typical youthful sweet. Afterwards I understood that it’s not a sweet like Viva la Juicy or strawberry vanilla, the kind you find everywhere; it doesn’t resemble any other celebrity scent. The sweetness doesn’t come from fresh fruits or flowers; it’s a warm perfume. It’s not for teenagers, it’s for adult women (it’s not like Fantasy). To me, it smells like figs and intense, alcoholic, sweet, and spiced vanilla. I’m 26 and I love it for night and winter; it lasts 7 hours on me.

  • Terrible longevity; it smells like licorice sweets soaked in liquor, too alcoholic… for those who think it resembles Bonbon by V&R, tell them to look elsewhere as they have nothing in common. It’s absolutely not worth it, not even for the low price it can be found at. If you want something similar to Bonbon, go for Bonbon and forget this fragrance as it can be quite disappointing.

I was hunting for this scent because of the pump and found it alongside Curious (the blue bottle); both are first editions. Upon seeing the notes and reviews, I thought it had to be a must-have. What happened? I don’t know if it’s my nose or Fragrantica has the notes wrong. It’s not a bad perfume, by any means. But honestly, I don’t detect the fruity notes in the top, heart, or dry down. At first, it smelled like sweet alcohol, like those Christmas ones, but it also reminded me of a little shop in a Chinatown neighbourhood where my dad used to take me for tea as a child and eat bean-filled pastries, while the incense and saturated aromas filled the place. Could that be the spicy note? It would make sense because, while looking for reviews, I saw that an unmentioned note is ‘loquat fruit’, which they use a lot there. It’s my second time testing it on my skin just before bed because I feel that way I can appreciate it better. The first time I said: nope, there’s no way this is for me; it reminded me of my Christmas holidays where I was preparing dinner with an excess of spices, an excess of alcohol, and an excess of Christmas smells, mixing all that with a Santa hat and stress. That’s what this perfume reminded me of. I told my mother she would love it; she adores these things. This second time: what is this? Is it spicy? It’s sweet, yes, vanilla-like; I can sense the tonka bean, but it’s not a girl’s sweet, I don’t feel it that way. Nor do I feel it’s for teenagers. As it evolves on my skin, I sense that spiced powder; I don’t know what on earth it is, but it’s not unpleasant. I think it’s a different scent, it’s special. Now I understand the hype and the culture behind this. The bottle and the box design feel like they honour what it evokes in me: I’d wear it to go out gossiping or pull a prank, hehe. When one doesn’t want to feel like themselves, or feel sexy in a simple way. Nothing ostentatious, and I love simplicity. As they say: it’s good to try new things; I don’t always want to go around smelling the same. Plus: if you’re a Britney fan like me, get the bottle; it’s a gem you must have with the pump included (it’s hard to find but not impossible). BTW: I feel it definitely smelled like her Blackout era, it gives me the vibes. 2. If it’s because you were told it’s a dupe of a certain designer perfume, my opinion is that to avoid disappointment, buy the original and invest more in it. I don’t think this is a dupe.
