Mod Vanilla by Ariana Grande

The perfume is nice and sweet, but I had an issue: perhaps due to the batch or a defective bottle, the liquid was leaking out and evaporating, losing 50ml just from that. I’m not criticising the fragrance, which is simple yet rich, but the bottle with its ‘unique’ silhouette that causes problems. If this happens to you, change the bottle immediately to avoid wasting it or making a mess.

One of my favourites; it’s exquisite. It’s a fairly fruity vanilla that goes excellently with the Plum and Vanilla Body Cream from Natura. THE BEST COMBO, girls.

Has anyone tried the Pink (Victoria’s Secret) ‘Cozy Sugar’ Body Mist? It smells identical. Supposedly it’s marshmallow and vanilla, but there’s no comparison; it smells like those mint and vanilla sweets. It doesn’t smell bad, but I don’t love it; it’s a bit overwhelming and heady. The only good thing: it has good sillage and long-lasting longevity.

It’s useful, it’s sweet, and has that famous note, but it still has that uncomfortable lavender, almost mentholated. In the dry-down it reminded me a lot of Lattafa Khamra, too much. It was rich like that one, but it still cloyed me. I tested it on my elbow and dirty, sweet old bursts kept coming through. Although I used to like their woody scents, I ended up hating it and preferred Blush, which is more feminine, clean, and wearable. When it dries completely the next day it leaves a woody, vanilla scent like Cloud, lacking the annoying notes. If it were for that dry-down I’d love it, but really it only lingers residually the next day; a shame.

I was never a fan of celebrity perfumes due to poor performance and lack of novelty, until I tried Thank U Next and surrendered to that sweet pear taken to the limit with macaron and creamy coconut. That’s why I bought more Ariana, but the same didn’t happen with the others. I heard Mod Vanilla so many times on social media that it was exquisite and I didn’t hesitate; I saw the notes and thought it was impossible for it to smell bad. But tastes vary and it disappointed me: it smells like something I’ve heard 100 times and, although it has vanilla, I never liked it and detect it everywhere. It’s an unoriginal trend without identity. It smells like Cloud, Cloud smells like Baccarat Rouge, and Baccarat has at least 30 dupes. That trendy scent that everyone likes never convinced me; it has something odd, a clumsy imbalance, like a song with poorly tested arrangements. At first it was different, but now it’s a generic scent even though it has a niche version. I love the broken-down notes, I bought blind and shouldn’t have, but some like to take the risk. What positive thing to say: my tastes don’t represent everyone; the majority likes it and that’s fine. In the dry-down a creamy caramel appears that I feel in a thousand perfumes, a base for many, especially from Ariana, with a touch of coconut. It lasts a lot, but try before you buy. There are a thousand better alternatives for the value that would make you happier.

Personally, I like it immensely. I perceive it as static; it really doesn’t transform much on me. From the start, I smell lots of cocoa and praline; I can’t quite discern the vanilla as such, but it’s so delightfully rich that I’d say that’s why. That said, I don’t sense any fruit at all. Reading some comments saying it’s like Cloud, on my nose, there’s nothing alike; they are VERY DIFFERENT. Cloud doesn’t smell as good to me, and I find it more masculine, hahaha, so if you feel the same, don’t worry, they don’t resemble each other in the slightest. I bought it blind and loved it 100%; I adore sweet gourmand scents and feel this fragrance is a slightly airier sweet treat.

Horrible. I don’t understand the hype. As soon as I tested it when it arrived, I gave it away. It feels slightly stinging, I think from the plum. It upsets my stomach. A fragrance with little class.

It smells like a vanilla, cocoa, and praline ice lolly, very creamy, like those tiny, expensive pots, with juicy chunks of plum. That’s what it smells like to me. It’s sweet, but not a bomb of sweetness; I think it manages to stay subtly elegant. It smells like a pretty girl and very feminine.

Hello!, here’s your friend who reviews against the grain and originally. I’m just here to update my previous review. Having 13 empty bottles of this fragrance in original and about 10 of different dupes (Zenz, Fraiche, and Aromas de Paris), it’s leaving my collection after being my favourite fragrance for a year. But… why? Just as everything in life changes, so do tastes; I haven’t stopped being a lover of vanilla, however, I’m the type of person who doesn’t like smelling what everyone else smells; it drives me insane. There’s nothing I hate more and tolerate less than monotony, which includes perfumes. Unfortunately, in my country, which is Mexico, and here in Mexico City, what Cloud, Cloud Pink, and this particular one, Mod Vanilla, smell like is what EVERY young woman here smells like; it’s what the public transport smells like at 30 degrees in this horrible heat, trapped unable to move. Unfortunately, I’ve developed a very ugly hatred and disgust for the same reason; I’ve had to leave public transport more than once during rush hour because I was so nauseous from those perfumes. It’s very sad, but that’s how it is. There’s a girl I admire greatly who is a YouTuber called Chica Vainilla; she and I have very similar tastes in perfumes, and she loved this fragrance just as much as I did, but when she reviewed it on YouTube, it created a massive wave of usage of this perfume. That’s all; I’m signing off with love and sadness from this lovely aroma that now, when I smell it, upsets my stomach. With so much hype, it killed all the love I had for it. Goodbye forever Mod Vanilla 🙁

OMGG, thanks queen Ari for this miracle 🍦🍨🤍. Before, I hated vanilla because of the cloying, chocolatey gourmand perfumes I tried. Mod Vanilla breaks the stereotype of childish vanilla; it’s super clean, fresh, and floral 🫧, not cloying at all, and suitable for any weather. It’s ideal as a signature scent. It smells like milky vanilla, like a McDonald’s ice cream treat. It’s the cousin of Cloud without the whipped cream and coconut notes. I love the minimalist and tidy packaging, although the cap sometimes comes loose. It lasts about 6 hours with moderate sillage. I’d buy it a thousand times over.

I bought a sample to test it at home. It surprised me; I expected something sweeter and more cloying, but it’s not like that. It smells quite concentrated to me, like when you add vanilla extract to make chocolate cupcakes. If you like that scent, it’s fantastic, though for me, it’s a bit ‘dark’. My boyfriend finds it discreet and pleasant, but he feels it lacks an exotic touch to have more charisma. He gave it a 7.5 🥸.

Another one that reminds me of Cloud… aren’t they a bit tired of it? The worst part is that everyone’s favourite seems to be Cloud, Ari, or the ‘new’ Mod, after all, they’re almost all the same.

After using up almost half the bottle, I’m clear that I won’t buy it again. It’s a good perfume with the notes I was looking for, but unfortunately, I only detect the plum and little else, which doesn’t drive me crazy. When it dries down, I can perceive ‘something’ of vanilla or cocoa butter, but with great effort. It’s a pity; I wish I liked it more. To those who say it smells like a vanilla ice cream treat, you’re lucky 🙂

When I tried it, I hesitated a bit because I expected a potent vanilla that would dominate everything, but that’s not the case. It’s a clean, slightly sweet perfume with a soft vanilla note, simply delicious. I love it 🤎; it’s very versatile and doesn’t smell synthetic anywhere. When I wear it, I’m constantly smelling my wrist, and I get waves of fragrance when I move, and I love that. One comment says it’s so ‘cozy’ it feels like a little cloud, and it’s a perfect description.
