A modern classic with a surreal twist, simply wonderful! Every time I smell Acaciosa, whether on myself or others, it’s an inexplicable delight. The sensory journey is delicate yet exuberant. Ernest Daltroff possessed a unique talent; as a child, his mother would put perfume on his ear before sleep. He worked in textiles, memorising aromas from around the world until he became a legendary perfumer. Acaciosa launched in 1929; it appeared to be a typical white floral, but his ingenuity made it daring and creative. Daltroff is my favourite perfumer; with subtlety, he conveys his love for fragrances. Acaciosa evokes acacia, a hard and sacred wood for the Egyptians, with clusters of aromatic white flowers. It’s the perfect analogy: notes that blend into one another. The dry-down is opulent, featuring ambergris and rose which, on my skin, seem to swap places, making the experience playful. Musk and ylang-ylang create an exotic oriental and floral scent on the skin. It’s a white and pink bouquet, as if draped in silk. Precious opening notes: yellow floral, woody, and amber, evoking a sense of freedom. Then, the rose dances between jasmine, sandalwood twirls with jasmine, and explosive lilies arrive, followed by the anticipated pineapple, brash and surreal. What’s special is that fantastic, cloying pineapple, a scent of desire. Previously (1500-1950), pineapple was daring and extravagant among florals, but today it’s common thanks to Acaciosa, which combines floral elegance with oriental passion and a sensual fruity touch. It’s avant-garde. The trail fades slowly after about nine hours; it’s moderate yet coquettish and elegant. It’s for those with personality, not for the sad or insecure. It’s vintage and hard to find, requiring patience. I bought it from ParfumsdeParis, an online shop with secure shipping and perfumes in original, good condition. I have two original sky-blue bottles with modernist typography. It’s an elegant, modern, and unique diary, like a decadent poem. Bravo Daltroff, a masterpiece!
