It’s a fruity and youthful take on BR540. Less sugary than other clones and without that medicinal touch many dislike. At first, it smells of freshly cut watermelon, fresh and sparkling, then it reveals that DNA of woods and saffron. I like it, but it’s not one of my favourites.
It smells of burnt sugar to me; I like this dupe a lot, but the longevity fails: on me, it doesn’t last more than two hours and sits right on the skin. If you don’t mind reapplying, it’s a good option because the scent is very rich.
Upon application, pure alcohol followed by an acetone-like scent. After a minute, there’s a strange metallic ash note. You have to wait 4-5 minutes for that faint Bacarat touch to emerge, but it’s very weak, only noticeable if you press your nose against it. For the price, one cannot ask for more, but claiming it’s super sweet is untrue. It’s weak; perhaps it’s not the best Sup of Bacarat Rouge Elixir.
Baroque Rouge Extrait is for those seeking something woody, strong and characterful. It opens intriguingly with saffron and an almond sweetness. The base blends woods, jasmine, ambergris and musk, very warm and long-lasting. Ideal for autumn, winter and night out. It projects strongly, perfect for drawing attention and projecting confidence.
What a lovely version and very wearable. If you like that DNA, it’s an accessible option that never fails.
Smells good, correct and well-balanced. It has that cotton candy or caramelised apple note, but in doses that don’t overwhelm. Nothing like the jarring imbalance found in cheap Arabian perfumes. Projection and longevity are average, but it’s highly wearable, even for the office.
