You can definitely spot Antoine Lie’s signature here: Black maintains the Tom of Finland or Rien aesthetic, playing with contrasts between the dark and the brilliant, the tarred leather, and that metallic floral so characteristic of his work. It’s very good, though without innovating, it follows the same creative line as several of his other pieces.
Elegant, masculine and with great presence; Black by Puredistance is for those seeking maturity and allure. It demands good taste and a strong character, making it ideal for formal or romantic occasions. A unique, extremely masculine and mature scent that leaves a trail without being overpowering, featuring a mysterious tone that invites you closer. Since I tried it, it has become an essential in my collection. 🔝 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 (And why not give it six?)
Elegant, masculine, with presence, mature and attractive. Black by Puredistance demands good attire and strong character for formal events or classy occasions. It is a unique scent, extremely attractive and mature, leaving a perceptible yet fair trail, without overwhelming, with a mysterious tone that invites one to approach. Since I tried it, it is an essential in my collection. 🔝 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 (And because I can’t give it a 6)
Trying this out from Puredistance and I’ll just say: I love it. As the notes are secret, let me tell you what it smells like: to a Cuba Libre with cola on a smoky terrace, to partying, to night, to vice. It reminds me of my youthful nights out with CH 212 VIP, but distinct. My nose isn’t great, so take what follows with a pinch of salt. The dry-down is balsamic and smoky, akin to Amouage’s Interlude or Black Afgano, so it surely carries incense or resins like opoponax. There’s also something sweet, perhaps amber or benzoin, but no vanilla. I detect coffee, a green-spiced touch like cardamom, dark woods such as patchouli or a very discreet oud, and finally leather and tobacco that give it a masculine character without being unisex. Did I get it? 😂 The dry-down becomes sweeter, like burnt sugar akin to Raghba, but I don’t think I hit the nail on the head. In summary, it smells good, is elegant, and not intrusive. Longevity is extremely high given it’s an extrait at 10€/ml (and I recommend their sample sets; the service is top). Projection is moderate, creating an aura without overwhelming. Ideal for cold weather or mild nights. I’d recommend women try it first; it might lean masculine, but if you dare with Black Afgano, this is yours. Scent: 9, Longevity: 9, Projection: 7, Value for money: 5, Versatility: 6, Originality: 8, Overall: 9.
Trying this Puredistance perfume today and I simply say: I love it! As the notes are ‘secret’, let me tell you what it smells like. To me, it smells like a Cuba Libre with cola on a pub terrace with people smoking; it’s alcoholic cola and smoky, party, night and vice. It reminds me of my party perfumes from my youth, like CH 212 VIP, though very different. My nose is bad at recognising scents, so don’t believe everything I say. The opening is balsamic and slightly smoky, reminiscent of Amouage Interlude or Nasomatto Black Afgano; they share that incense and smoky character that Black also has. I add that it probably carries incense or balsamic resins like opoponax. Within the resinous aspect, there is something sweet, perhaps amber or benzoin, but not vanilla. I detect dark notes of coffee or cocoa (more coffee), a green and spicy touch, likely cardamom. There is also dark wood, such as patchouli or oud, very discreet, without the medicinal part. It could carry leather and tobacco, giving it a masculine yet unisex air. Did I get any notes right? 😂😂 The dry down is much sweeter, like burnt sugar, similar to Lattafa Raghba. Although I didn’t get a single note right, you can see how I perceive it. They are intense but not intrusive; it is very well made and elegant. Longevity is very high, expected in an extrait at 10€/ml (I recommend their sample sets for the price and exquisite service). Projection is moderate, creating a close and discreet aura. Ideal for cold climates or mild nights. Although it is unisex, I recommend women try it first; it might lean towards masculine. If you can handle Black Afgano or Laudano Nero, you can handle this. Scent: 9, Longevity: 9, Projection: 7, Value for money: 5, Versatility: 6, Originality: 8, Overall: 9
