Descripción

Black Opium Intense by Yves Saint Laurent is an oriental vanilla fragrance for women. Launched in 2019, this composition was created by Nathalie Lorson, Olivier Cresp, Marie Salamagne and Honorine Blanc. The top notes reveal absinthe and boysenberry; the heart unfolds coffee, sambac jasmine and orange blossom; while the base notes complete the pyramid with vanilla, licorice and sandalwood.

  • I tried it on my skin today. It’s a Black Opium with incisive and nocturnal tints. The truth is, it smells linear and like a plug-in room freshener, those vanilla ones. It has a synthetic, powdery, and chemical character. Could this be the new trend? It’s more nocturnal, but not therefore more seductive. The vanilla is artificial and the coffee adds nothing new. For four prestigious perfumers to produce this is a joke. Undoubtedly a masterpiece of marketing, not quality.

I absolutely love it! It has a sparkling and elegant opening, and it lasts for over four hours. The projection is powerful and magnetic. Although I don’t own it yet, I’m sure it will be my next purchase.

I tried it on my skin today. At first, I didn’t notice much difference from the original EDP. After a few minutes, however, a super-sweet liquor note kicked in—I assume it’s the absinthe—and it dominated the entire development. In contrast, the original smells like a cosy milky coffee. They are two completely different things; impossible to confuse. What caught me by surprise was that an hour and a half later, it started to sound familiar until I remembered it smells like Armani’s Lei, although they only share the sandalwood. Perhaps it’s just my chemistry. In short, it’s an intense sweet liquor. It hasn’t disgusted me, but I won’t buy it because on my skin it turns into another perfume I already own.

My favourite women’s perfume is Black Opium EDP; my girlfriend and I love it, and we’ve just tried this masterpiece; we loved it. It’s like the EDP but with a sweeter touch and the coffee less present. In terms of aroma, we liked this new version more, but regarding performance, it falls a bit short; it doesn’t project much and doesn’t last as long as the EDP. Still, it’s my favourite, it’s not very synthetic, you can tell it’s a luxury perfume with quality.

  • Opens with very marked absinthe, well-liquorous and slightly fresh. Upon drying, it becomes very similar to the classic EDP with that very marked coffee but always with that touch of liquor. Irish coffee… At first it’s potent, but afterwards, thankfully, it relaxes quite a bit. The bottle is lovely and not as harsh as the original. For me, it’s a nocturnal scent. I also want to add that the coffee + absinthe combination marks a masculine air in this fragrance.

I tested it for just a second and then it flew away; the blotter stayed in the perfumery. Oh, well, I’ll be back for it, I swear. It’s much softer than Black Opium. I didn’t feel a fresh opening, more like coffee without the presence of the fruits and pepper, less sweet than Black Opium but from the same coffee family. The sensation of having eaten a chocolate without it being cloying… soft and feminine. I can’t say more because I don’t have it yet.

I tried it for just a second and then it flew away; the test strip stayed in the perfumery. Oh, but I’ll be back for it, I swear. It’s much softer than the Black Opium. I owned it and initially thought it would be one of my favourites. Over time, I started noticing a cigarette and coffee smell (note: it wasn’t expired or poorly stored). The truth is, a disappointment; I ended up swapping it for another one in a perfume lovers’ group.

  • Another blind buy that I quite liked. I tested it in summer, so for now I only sense the liquor, vanilla, and coffee; it feels like an evening scent. Smells very nice, I think it’s casual; it reminded me of Poison Girl EDP but softer and more wearable. I would buy it again, I quite liked it.

  • After the initial hit of absinthe on your nose, it’s shamelessly similar to Poison Girl… with coffee.

Well, let’s talk about the scent. It’s sweet coffee with vanilla and licorice, smelling very much like Irish coffee. The licorice and absinthe aren’t overpowering, but they are noticeable. Trail: very skin-scented, soft trail, very poor. Eau de Parfum Intense? Where is it?! Is it similar to the original? Well, perhaps they smell the same due to the coffee, but they differ in many aspects. Frankly, I’m disappointed because the notes sound rich and many are my favourites, but it’s not perfect. At least I love the bottle colour; it’s very pretty. Nothing spectacular, just another Black Opium flanker without a soul. I wonder when this invasion of flankers will end. L’Oréal is a hungry machine… Try it before buying.

The opening smells strongly of alcohol with red fruits, then the coffee appears, very soft in this version. Gradually, the vanilla, jasmine, and sandalwood emerge. Do I like it? Yes, but I expected a potent Black Opium Intense (nothing like the name suggests). This version is fresher and more wearable. If you can’t stand the original Black Opium, I recommend this. Moderate trail, lasts 8 hours like all Black Opiums, ideal for gifting or buying blind for yourself. I consider it versatile, ideal for any season. Scent 8/10, longevity 8/10, packaging 10/10, trail 6/10, versatility 10/10, value for money 9/10. Would I buy it again? No.

First impression: I detect a lot of alcohol with the red fruits, followed by the coffee, which is very soft in this version; gradually, vanilla, jasmine, and sandalwood emerge. Do I like it? Yes, but I expected a powerful Black Opium Intense (nowhere near what its name suggests). This version is fresher and more wearable. If you can’t stand the original Black Opium, I recommend this. Moderate trail, lasts 8 hours like all Black Opiums, ideal for gifting or blind-buying for yourself. I see it as versatile, suitable for any season. • Blind-bought a 90ml tester and it was a huge hit. It’s running low, so I’ve also picked up the regular version. At first, it didn’t seem intense, but I left it for a few months and it re-concentrated; now it has an incredible trail and projection. Smells like absinthe with dark coffee and a fresh touch of boysenberries that give it a youthful vibe. It’s sexy, not overly sweet, perfect for going out at night—it’s the best coffee scent I’ve ever smelled. It’s not overhyped, which is a big plus. No waste at all.

  • MissPennyLane

Intense version is disappointing. It comes out very white floral, and after a while, the coffee appears with a hint of vanilla. That’s it. I can’t find it particularly intense or long-lasting on the skin.

  • I bought a 90ml blind tester and what a triumph. It’s nearly finished, so I also grabbed the regular version. At first, it didn’t seem ‘intense’ to me; I left it for months and it re-concentrated. Now it has an impressive trail and projection. It’s not mass-market, a huge plus. There’s no waste here.
