Descripción

Black Opium Neon by Yves Saint Laurent is an oriental vanilla fragrance for women. Launched in 2019, this composition was created by Olivier Cresp. Upon release, the dragon fruit, mandarin and grapefruit provide a vibrant opening; the heart reveals a harmony between orange blossom, coffee and sambac jasmine; while the base settles on a warm combination of vanilla and musk.

  • My first impression was ‘wow, what a lovely scent’, but after ten minutes on my skin it smells VERY much of coffee, then develops that synthetic touch that gives me an immediate headache.

  • My first impression was ‘wow, I love it, it smells delicious’, but after 10 minutes on my skin it smells HUGE of coffee and then develops that synthetic touch that immediately gives me a headache.

It’s me, the first to give a low rating. I wanted to buy it blind, but thank goodness I didn’t. It smells like coffee with chewing gum, something very strange and synthetic. I hope others like it more than I do.

This morning I happened to try it with a friend, and frankly, I did like it. Its DNA is very similar to the original, though it’s not a complete rehash… but it’s fine. I detected more coffee than in its predecessors and a plasticky, vinyl-like touch. I think they’re running out of ideas with this Black Opium Neon. The next one might be yellow and called ‘Yellow Opium Simpson’. Come on, how long until they release more flankers of… *free*.

  • It’s the Black Opium version I like most. Of all I’ve heard, it’s the one where I detect the most coffee. On the opening, I perceive that fruity combination with coffee and the floral base. Over the hours, all the aromas diminish except the floral one, at least on my skin. The truth is I’m not a fan of overly sweet perfumes, but this one seems interesting and I use it to go out with my partner, as he is indeed attracted to sweet scents. I wouldn’t recommend it for daytime or hot days, as it can become an overwhelming scent.

  • Well, simply… this seems like a joke. I received samples at the chemist. Few perfumes I’ve heard are so insipid. It practically smells like nothing, not even fruity. It reminds me of a bit of sugared water with some impossible synthetic sweetener. I frankly think it’s a waste of time. It’s as if they think the young girls (the target of the advertising) are utterly foolish to spend the euros they’ve worked so hard to earn. It’s a lack of respect, that’s what it is. I love coffee and dragon fruit, but… who wants to smell the ‘supposed’ mixture of these two scents if they were to smell it? What to smell, what they call smelling, they don’t smell.

  • At first, it smells like a lightened Black Opium with a tropical opening. Then it dries down and the coffee note becomes more prominent. It’s a pleasant scent but nothing surprising within the line. Its sillage is very soft and longevity on me is 4 hours. I don’t see why this flanker is worth it. Scent 7/10, Longevity 5/10, Sillage 4/10, Value for money 3/10, Versatility 7/10, Packaging 8/10. Would I buy it again? No, I didn’t.

It’s sweet, reminiscent of the classic, and the aroma is rich, though similar to the gourmands currently in vogue. The pity is its poor longevity and sillage. Scent 6/10, Longevity 5/10, Sillage 4/10, Value for money 4/10, Versatility 7/10, Packaging 9/10.

  • I deleted my review for fear of being too harsh, but upon re-reading, I was right. The scent is rich, cheerful and youthful, very different from others. By day two it smelled only of coffee, and by day three the pink fruit returned, though scientifically it’s noticeable. The day I received it, I took two hours to get home and it projected nothing (I passed many perfumes and this seemed like a joke). Performance is poor, at least if it were more affordable.

  • I deleted my comment thinking I was being harsh, but reading others’ reviews, I’m right. The fragrance is rich, cheerful, and youthful. Unlike the others, smelling the sample on day 2 I only detected coffee, but by day 3 the pink fruit note returned. However, scientifically speaking, the day I received the sample I went home, waited two hours, and it projected nothing. It seemed like a joke after smelling many samples. Terrible performance, at least if it were more affordable.

  • It smells like some tropical fruit bathed in coffee and vanilla. In the bottle, it didn’t seem like much, but on my skin it creates an excellent chemistry and smells truly addictive. For me, it has good longevity, lasting 7 hours without any issues. I recommend testing on skin and letting it evolve; I was pleasantly surprised.

  • It’s very delicious and an aroma you don’t always find. It has a strong resemblance to the original, but is lighter and fresher. It’s not for wearing at 35 degrees as it evaporates quickly, leaving only the coffee, vanilla, and citrus. I haven’t tried it in autumn or winter yet. In short, it’s less heavy and dark, a younger twin. If you can, do try it, but it remains a gem.

  • It’s very rich… a scent you don’t always find. It has a lot of similarity with the original, but it’s lighter and fresher. That doesn’t mean it’s for use in 35-degree weather, because it evaporates quickly and only the coffee, vanilla and cassis remain. I haven’t tried it in autumn or winter yet. In short, it’s less heavy and dark. It’s a younger twin. If you can try it, do so. It remains a gem.

  • I received a 10ml miniature with the purchase of another YSL and absolutely loved it. It smells similar to the original but with a younger, sweeter twist. It’s ideal for cold weather, though I’ve also worn it on summer evenings and it works perfectly.

  • I was given a 10ml miniature when I bought another YSL, and I loved it. It’s similar to the original but more youthful and sweet. Ideal for cold climates, although I’ve also used it on summer evenings and it looks perfect.

DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING IT BLIND. Out of all the flankers, this has had the worst performance on me. At first, freshly sprayed, you can detect the DNA of the original with a very synthetic fruity scent that, after about five minutes, fades leaving the original scent very faint until, finally, after twenty minutes, it disappears completely, leaving only a faint sweet aroma like body cream you could buy at VS. It loses all the wonderful qualities of this fragrance. Without a doubt, I stick with my favourite Black Opium Green, which has the DNA with more potent coffee notes and YSL’s signature elegance.

DO NOT BUY BLINDLY. Of all the flankers, this has the worst performance on me. Freshly sprayed, it smells like the original Black Opium DNA with a very synthetic fruity scent that, in 5 minutes, leaves only a very faint version of the original smell until it disappears in 20 minutes, leaving just a sweet aroma like VS body cream. It loses everything wonderful about the perfume. I stick with my favourite BO Green, which has the DNA plus more potent coffee and YSL elegance.

  • To me, it smells like the original with a tiny hint of that Nenuco baby cologne in the base. For my taste, it’s the summer version of Black Opium.

  • I’ve seen many negative reviews, but honestly, I did like it. It’s a beautiful fragrance. I thought it would last less, but it stays on my skin for about five or six hours and much longer on clothes. The only thing that doesn’t convince me is the fruity note, which on me smells like chewing gum – something I don’t enjoy. However, I love the coffee. Anyway, try it before buying. I’d recommend it for fresh days, not hot ones, as it’s very strong and can give you headaches 😂

  • I see many negative reviews, but I actually liked it. It’s a beautiful perfume. I thought it would last less, but it lasts 5 or 6 hours on my skin and much longer on clothes. The only thing that doesn’t convince me is the fruity note which smells like bubblegum, something I dislike. But I love the coffee. Try before you buy. I recommend it for fresh days, not heat, because it’s very strong and can give headaches.

  • It’s the Black Opium of old with lots of neroli; it’s the cutest one for me, though it smells like baby cologne on my skin. It lasts for hours on me.

  • This perfume reminds me a lot of the original but with its own personality. On paper, it’s very citrusy, but on my skin, the pitaya stands out. As it dries down, jasmine appears, and above all, the coffee, maintaining a tropical tone. The scent is tropical with coffee; I don’t detect citrus or vanilla on my skin. It doesn’t smell like baby cologne; it gets stronger, so I recommend it for evening wear. It could be heavy in summer. It makes me think of travelling to the Caribbean, having coffee at a beach bar. It lasts 8 to 10 hours with moderate sillage.

  • It reminds me a lot of the original Black Opium but with its own personality. At first, it’s very citrusy on blotter, but on my skin the dragon fruit really stands out. As it dries down, the jasmine appears, and above all, the coffee, without losing that tropical touch. I’d classify it as tropical with coffee, because on my skin neither the citrus nor the vanilla are noticeable. It doesn’t smell like baby cologne on me; it becomes stronger, so I recommend it for evening wear. In summer, it could become heavy. It makes me think of the tropics, like having a coffee at a Caribbean beach bar looking out at the sea, which is very relaxing. It lasts quite a while, about eight to ten hours on my skin, with a moderate trail.

I’m not usually a fan of citrus and fruity notes, but with the sweetness, coffee, and vanilla, it creates a pleasant balance. It feels like the most youthful and daily version of the original. It’s quite long-lasting and leaves a more vanilla scent on clothes than citrus.

  • FloorPerfumeadicta

It smells like fruit dipped in caramel, vanilla, and coffee; it gives me a bubblegum vibe. I was disappointed. I expected something sweet that would highlight the coffee, vanilla, and fruit, but it wasn’t. It lasts 8 hours, which is fine for daily wear. I see it as very youthful. Try before you buy: it’s not easy to wear and could be a big surprise!

What a terrible flanker. To be honest, I don’t like any Black Opium, especially the coffee note, but pitaya with coffee? Why? The opening is super synthetic and the rest offers no novelty. The worst part is that among recent YSL releases, this is the only line with reasonable performance, yet ironically, it lasted well on my skin.

It’s like layering Nenuco with Black Opium. It lacks longevity, has poor sillage, and smells of citrus coffee, vanilla, and musk. It feels very youthful; the cashmere wood and cedar from the original are completely gone. Simple and unremarkable for such a spectacular name.

  • MissPennyLane

I didn’t detect the Black Opium DNA in this flanker. It smells like a familiar floral-vanilla blend, starting with dark, seductive white flowers before settling into a timid, gourmand vanilla. I sensed neither the opening notes nor the coffee. The longevity and projection are very weak, more like an EDT than an EDP. I won’t be repurchasing.
