Wait, wait, Black Opium changing its composition for the first time, but what is this? I can’t wait to smell it 😍❤
I love the fig note and am a fan of Black Opium and its derivatives, so I bought it at Sephora expecting a fig and coffee original. What a mistake! It’s a disappointment: it smells like Black Opium with a citrus top, much weaker. I don’t detect any fig whatsoever and can’t understand selling it this way. On me, it lasts two hours and has no projection. I was so angry I mixed it with Diptyque’s Philosykos, but it only smelled of the latter. I’ll use it by over-applying, but it will pass without making a mark. Very poor YSL.
I love the fig note and I really like Black Opium and its flankers, so I bought it at Sephora thinking it would be an original, coffee with fig… Mistake! What a letdown. It’s just a Black Opium with a citrus opening, nothing more, much weaker than the original. I can’t find the fig anywhere, I never detect it, I don’t understand how they sell it like this. The longevity is minimal; I notice it for about two hours and it doesn’t project. I was so angry that I mixed it with Diptyque’s Philosykos, but that was a bad idea; it only smelled like the latter. I’ll use it by over-applying, but it will pass without making much of an impression. Very bad YSL.
On my skin, the opening of Illicit Green highlights the green fig leaf note rather than the mandarin or pear citrus. In the original BO, after a few minutes, licorice, vanilla and coffee take over; here, in this flanker, it’s the green note and coffee. It’s less sweet than the original and, personally, I prefer the original; but both are good options and the notes are well combined.
Pff, smells fantastic. It’s sweet but with style. Personally, I just loved it.
Fruits with vanilla. It’s a triple play between jasmine, pear 🍐 and vanilla, very well balanced. It’s penetrating and intense yet luminous, nothing like the boring sweetness of Black Opium. It has pleasantly surprised me, offering a new perspective on the usual sweet scent. Those who love Alien will adore this; I’d almost say Black Opium copied the formula due to Mugler’s success. They both choose the trendy fruit and the trendy jasmine; Alien. They both belong to common families. Edit: Hours later, it reminds me of a mix between Alien and Olympea by Paco Rabanne, very striking.
I agree with Javier Ordaz: it’s a perfect unisex masculine scent. I wear it and it reminds me of Armani Stronger With You or One Million Lucky in terms of sweetness. I adore it; it’s one of the most delicious sweet scents I’ve tried. It looks incredible on men. What I notice most is the coffee and vanilla; to me, it smells like Bailey’s. It’s charming.
I own Black Opium Neón and the original; this fragrance reminds me a lot of Neón, but it swaps the tropical notes for fig and has a less dominant coffee, resulting in a fresher scent. The longevity is quite poor. It smells good, but it’s a flanker of the same thing with low performance, so don’t buy it.
I own both Neón and the regular version; this fragrance recalls Neón but swaps the tropical touch for fig and reduces the coffee, making it fresher. The longevity is terrible. It smells nice, but it’s a flanker that repeats too much with poor performance, so don’t buy it.
Smells very similar to the original Black Opium, but with a much more prominent vanilla note 🙂
It’s the most faithful flanker to the original, yet softer and more modern, akin to an MK2; honestly, they could have launched it from the start and saved us all the saga. The opening smells like the Intense’s absinthe, with sweet mandarin and perhaps pear, and that blend of bourbon vanilla with coffee is spectacular.
I think it’s the flanker that most resembles the original, but softened and modernised, like an MK2; basically, they could have made this from the start and saved all, all, all the others. The liquor in the opening reminds me of the absinthe in the Intense; I notice a sweet mandarin, probably the pear giving the sweetness, and the blend of bourbon vanilla and coffee is spectacular.
Total disappointment. The opening is gorgeous, but it vanishes in seconds and isn’t worth it.
As mentioned previously, it’s super similar to the original. It’s coffee wrapped in creamy, sweet vanilla. Very rich and long-lasting, however, if you have the original, it’s not worth buying this, as it’s the same thing but with different packaging.
Black Opium Illicit Green actually arrived as a gift. I like sweet and gourmand notes in perfumes, and I think this Black Opium hits the nail on the head. From its launch, I easily perceived a juicy pear with a vanilla touch that maintains itself in varying proportions throughout its development. Then its characteristic coffee scent appears immediately, but here the fig leaves give a sense of freshness, and if you’ve ever touched fig leaves, they can even feel rough. Perhaps there are better flankers than this, but I adore it, and in my case it has a decent duration, nothing extreme at 8 hours but around 5 or 6.
I love it. It was a blind purchase taking advantage of a promotion, trying to get used to YSL perfumes which I find super sweet and heavy. What a wonderful discovery! It’s no surprise that Olivier Cresp is the nose behind it; I adore everything that man creates. It feels sweet, vanilla-infused, with a coffee scent, and the pear gives it an extraordinary touch. It lasts a long time on my skin. It’s like a coffee version of Valentino Born in Roma (which I also love). That said, personally, these are perfumes I use at night. The sun and daytime feel too much for them. I’d think it could also be fantastic for a man.
I love it. It was a blind buy with a promotion, trying to get used to YSL perfumes which I find super sweet and heavy. What a gem I’ve found! No wonder Olivier Cresp is the nose, everything he creates I adore. It smells sweet, vanilla-infused, with coffee, and the pear gives it an extraordinary touch. It persists for a long time on my skin. It’s like a coffee version of Valentino Born in Roma, which I also adore. Yes, personally I wear them at night; the sun and day feel too strong to me. I think it could be fantastic for a man too.
The bottle isn’t one of my favourites… I tested it in a perfumery and got completely tangled up until I bought it. Now that I own it, I’m slightly disappointed, as I remembered more coffee sensations when I tried it. Now it just smells of vanilla, which I do like, but I expected more from such an expensive fragrance. The intensity fades very quickly; it lasts for many hours but is extremely soft, you have to get close to smell it.
Sweet, syrupy, and vanilla-infused; it’s hard to distinguish which fruit it is, but a fig-and-vanilla syrup would be the perfect definition. I don’t sense the coffee or flowers throughout its development; rather, it’s a soft caramelised sweetness, nothing invasive, accompanied by vanilla all the way through. Ideal for cold days, for evening wear, and for any age—I’ve loved it.
Yes, the longevity is short, but it is exquisite, refined, and elegant. It opens fresh before turning sweet. The green touch and coffee give it great personality. I think it suits spring and summer perfectly. A beautiful fragrance.
This is my first Black Opium, so I can’t compare it with its siblings, but I can say that the base notes are very similar to Dior’s Poison Girl on my skin. It has the same sweet vanilla, though the Dior feels spicier on me. The sweet part lasts up to eight hours close to the skin, and I get no sillage; after two hours, I stop smelling it, and the green, citrus, and fruity notes disappear almost instantly upon application. If you search hard, you might catch a hint of pear. It’s just another sweet fragrance, which doesn’t mean it’s not delicious, only that it remains as generic as many other sweets.
I love it! I bought it because it was on offer and I’ve wanted the Black Opium for ages—it’s a fragrance that fascinates me. I really liked the flanker, then I bought the original, and I adore both. The only downside to Illicit Green is that it lasts approximately three to four hours. If you love the original, I recommend getting it.
I surrender to this fragrance. I was looking for a BO flanker and stumbled upon something absolutely gorgeous. It’s fresh yet dense, a blend of coffee, pear, fig, and mandarin—wow. On my skin, it lasts about eight hours with moderate but noticeable projection; it’s captivating because it ends up winning compliments. I’m already on my second bottle without a doubt, as it delights both my nose and my husband. This duality between density, character, and lightness is rarely achieved in perfumery, so it’s no surprise given the two master perfumers behind it.
The green opening focused on the fig helps distinguish it from the original Black Opium, which is delicious but ultra-famous and used even in air fresheners. However, aside from this extraordinary opening, the perfume is very similar to the BO once dry. It’s a huge gourmand but very well executed. Its longevity is average and I don’t feel the trail is very potent. I was pleasantly surprised but I wouldn’t buy it again.
This perfume deceived me a little: in the shop, I smelled an intense coffee aroma and bought it instantly because I loved it, but when I opened the new bottle, I didn’t smell that scent again. Don’t get me wrong, I still love it; I feel it’s a fresher and more versatile version of the original. It’s a good purchase, although don’t expect much projection; after about four hours, I can’t smell it, it’s only perceptible close to the skin. In terms of notes, the opening is dominated by pear, and over time it becomes more gourmand, although unfortunately I don’t smell the coffee, only vanilla and heart florals. In summary, a good purchase if you like the line; it’s my favourite of all.
I bought it blind on offer to see how it would go with the Opiums… It didn’t go crazy on me like other perfumes. I find it very muddled and I think the coffee note isn’t one of my favourites. Still, I’ll use it or soften it with layering. If you’re in Argentina, I find it very similar to Uma Doré, which is much cheaper. If I had known, I would have bought the latter.
Very delicious, much fresher and more versatile than the classic. HOWEVER, very poor longevity for a Black Opium. I only recommend it if you find it on discount. I don’t notice anything green, no figs, or nothing, but it does feel less intense, with a fresher opening (30 seconds). If you’re from Argentina, the Vitamina Night seems identical to me. On my skin, it lasts about 3/4 of an hour.
A tremendous perfume. I bought it because it was incredibly cheap. It should go viral; I remember nobody was talking about it. It resembles the classic, but I like this flanker better because it lacks the strong opening of the other; its opening is herbal and vanilla, fresh. Then it becomes the classic, with the coffee and vanilla coming through more. I love it and think the fig notes are original, making it unisex. It’s sexy, nocturnal, herbal, and sweet, ideal for a party or club on a cool night. The scent, trail, and longevity are spectacular, all an 11. I recommend trying it at least, though it’s not always in stock.
It’s identical to Black Opium, just softer and with less longevity. Super delicious, but it doesn’t last.
To me, it’s identical to the classic Black Opium, meaning about 90% the same. It only changes the trail slightly and the longevity.
I bought it blind and I’m fascinated by it. It’s one of the few that lingers on my clothes, skin, and hair. It has different facets: sometimes citrus, sometimes fig, sometimes vanilla. It’s surprising and I adore it. I also own the classic; this one seems more youthful to me. Highly recommended 💚
It’s my favourite for rainy days. I imagine drinking a vanilla milk coffee in the mountains. It perfectly balances the gourmand and herbal notes. It’s the most wearable of all the BOs; I even wear it in the heat without it being overpowering. It evolves into vanilla, coffee, and white flowers. It’s not linear, evolving all day, which makes it rich. I first bought the Zenz dupe and fell in love, then the original, but I prefer the fake. The original has that typical sharp opening, lasts about four hours, and then disappears; I can still smell the dupe after 12 hours.
It doesn’t smell green or weird at all; it’s the classic Black Opium with a fruity twist. I love wearing it to stretch out my original bottle. It has good longevity and is truly a treasure.
